Why did you provoke me?

Chapter 147 Xiao Hao Arrives at the Yu Family

Yu Meng found Niannian struggling with the koi in the yard. "Let's go, Niannian."

"Ah, Fourth Sister, have you finished discussing your business?"

"I was just asking about Aunt Qing. She took good care of me when I was away." Yu Meng took Niannian's hand and walked out of the place.

Niannian looked back at the ordinary door. "Fourth Sister, isn't this what you call having a hidden secret? Shall we go home?"

"We're going straight back to the old house. I left a message for my older sister, telling them to come find us at the old house if anything happens."

"Fourth Sister, the alien inside that old man's body seems to have quite a lot of energy. I wish there were more, my little gray thread is really enjoying it." Niannian's tone was full of joy.

"Niannian, the lines can absorb the energy from the aliens. You absolutely mustn't tell anyone about this, or I'm afraid someone will capture you and dissect you for research." Yu Meng stopped and solemnly warned her.

"Fourth Sister, I know. You said that Eldest Sister and Sister Xiu also came into contact with that kind of alien, but their lines didn't absorb that energy? How come I've never heard them mention it?" Niannian muttered to herself.

"No, if my older sister had something like that, she would definitely tell me. She wouldn't hide it from me," Yu Meng said confidently. As for whether her older sister Xiu would tell her, she really couldn't guess.

Zhou Jingyan returned to the house. "Third Uncle?"

Nangong Tianshou looked at him and said, "We both underestimated this girl. I only spoke a few words to her, and she deduced that our Zhou family had lost this game."

Zhou Jingyan frowned. "Is she willing to help us?"

"As long as it doesn't cause her trouble, I'll still secretly help her a little." Nangong Tianshou was also helpless. As Yu Meng said, his body was indeed too weak to stand up. If it weren't for the family's help in rescuing him from the alien battlefield, he would probably be buried there by now.

"So, tell me, is it true that Xiao Hao was sent to the Yu family to be raised?"

"You can't bear to part with him? Xiao Hao's health has always been poor. If Yu Meng can personally treat him, Xiao Hao's health should be able to return to that of a normal child."

"I believe what Uncle San said, but what price will our family have to pay to get Yu Meng to take action?" Zhou Jinyan asked the most practical question.

Nangong Tianshou frowned at him. "When you first met, what exactly did you do to get her to treat Xiao Hao? Do you remember?"

"I didn't do anything at the time. I just knelt down while holding the child," Zhou Jingyan recalled. "She was very resistant to our contact, but then she looked at Xiao Hao and, for some reason, revealed the illness and even gave him something to prolong his life."

"Did you give a return gift later?" Nangong Tianshou asked.

Zhou Jingyan shook his head. "No. I thought she would make some demands after hearing that we were from the Zhou family in Kyoto. But even now, we've met twice and she hasn't said anything. When I asked her to come and retrieve the alien for my third uncle, I didn't mention any conditions, and she just came along."

Nangong Tianshou sat there without saying a word, wanting nothing in return, which was the most difficult thing to do. This was a favor, and a life-saving one at that. He had no idea what Yu Meng was up to.

Suddenly he laughed. "You don't want to be associated with me, but I'm determined to be associated with you. Jingyan, go prepare the best gifts and send Xiaohao and the gifts to the Yu family's small building. Tell them to thank Yu Meng for saving the child's life and to ask them to raise the child for a while. We will cover all expenses doubled."

Zhou Jinyan stared at his third uncle in disbelief. "Will this work? What if Yu Meng finds out? Will she turn against you? If we force Xiao Hao there like this, do you think they'll treat him well?"

"She won't be going back to her little house in town for a while. Just have someone take care of things. When she finds out, she won't dare to argue with such a young child." He paused, then added, "Be very careful. We absolutely cannot let our enemies know that the Yu family is raising Xiao Hao."

A few days later, Mr. Yu looked at the car full of things and a thin, small child in front of him, his expression blank.

Following the lines given to him by Zhou Jingyan, Butler Xu carefully recounted the events.

Mr. Yu looked at Mrs. Yu, "What should we do? Xiao Si isn't home either. Can we make this decision?"

Butler Xu pushed Xiao Hao towards Aunt Yu, "Quickly call her Grandma Yu."

Xiao Hao called out softly, "Hello, Grandma Yu."

Looking at Xiao Hao, Aunt Yu asked Butler Xu, "Was this child really saved by Yu Meng? Why didn't she mention it to us?"

"Of course it was Yu Meng who saved him. This child still has medicine stones made by Yu Meng herself." As she spoke, she gestured for Xiao Hao to take out the beads hanging around his neck.

Aunt Yu hurriedly called Dali downstairs, "Look, is this something Xiao Si made?"

Dali looked at the little child, took the beads, and asked, "Where did she save you?"

Butler Xu hurriedly replied, "It's at the morning market in the city."

Dali gently scratched a spot on the bead with her hand, and the bead instantly changed its appearance. Dali glanced at it, nodded, and said, "It is indeed my little sister's technique." She then restored the bead to its original shape and handed it back to the child.

Dali looked at Yu Ma and said, "My younger sister only went to the morning market once. The child was so young. Maybe she just couldn't bear to see him like that."

Mr. Yu looked at Butler Xu and said, "We are just an ordinary family, with only simple meals. It's really not suitable for such a precious child to stay in our home. He needs his parents' company right now. We are just rough people and don't know how to raise children. If something happens to him, wouldn't that be a terrible mistake?"

"You don't need to be modest, sir. Your Yu Meng and Niannian are top-notch children. Xiao Hao's elders have met them and praised them highly. That's why they wanted their children to come here to be nurtured and absorb some of their talents."

Butler Xu's words were truly excellent. With a bright smile, Aunt Yu took Xiao Hao's hand and said, "Then let him stay here for a few days. If it's not suitable, you can take him back. A small child can't eat much, so you don't need to bring so much stuff."

Butler Xu readily agreed. "It's nothing much, just a small token of our appreciation. The child is young; if he makes a mistake, you can scold or punish him as you would your own child."

Sister Xiu had been standing by the stairs for a while. Hearing Butler Xu's words, she rolled her eyes inelegantly. Who would bear to scold or beat their own child? She was still a little worried.

However, he just mentioned Niannian and Yumeng. I wonder where these two met his elders and why they had such a good impression of them.

Xiao Hao watched as Butler Xu left, his eyes filled with reluctance, but he didn't cry or make a fuss; he simply followed silently beside Aunt Yu.

Dali and Sister Xiu exchanged a glance. This little child was so sensible it was almost heartbreaking.

After leading the child upstairs, Aunt Yu suddenly realized, "Can such a young child sleep in a room by himself?"

She glanced at Yu's father, "This child is so young, how about letting him share a room with Hai Zi?"

Mr. Yu glared at Mrs. Yu. "What were you thinking just now? Ask Xiao Hao if he's willing."

Aunt Yu asked Xiao Hao for his opinion seriously, and when she saw him nod, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

When Yu Hai returned home, he looked at the little one standing in front of him and asked, "Mom, do you think I should take care of him from now on?"

"Take care of him the same way you took care of your little sister back then, and he'll be a good boy too." Aunt Yu patted Xiao Hao's head. "I think he's just as smart as Xiao Si."

Yu Hai frowned. "Mom, this is not a reason for you to make me take care of this child."

"If you don't agree, I'll tell Xiao Si that you're making me angry," Yu Ma blatantly threatened.

Xiao Hao felt a little sad watching them argue over him. He lowered his head.

Looking at him, Yu Hai suddenly remembered that Yu Meng was also quiet like this when she was a child, never arguing or making a fuss.

Yu Hai took Xiao Hao's hand. "We're not arguing because of you; we're just expressing our thoughts. Do you have anything to say? Would you like to come with me?"

Xiao Hao raised his head, his eyes lit up, and nodded firmly. "I do." His voice was soft, but clear. This was the first time someone had asked him if he was willing, and he liked it very much.

After that, Yu Hai happily gained a little follower.
