Hogwarts' Golden Glory
Chapter 94 Christmas Gifts
After a few fulfilling days at the manor, Christmas arrived.
The morning sun had not yet appeared.
Kane Malfoy was awakened by a series of urgent knocks on the window.
He rubbed his eyes, walked to the window, and pulled back the curtains.
I was stunned by the sight before me—several owls were flapping their wings and hovering outside the window.
Even Fox is standing outside now.
Their claws held all sorts of packages and letters.
"Merlin's beard..." Kane murmured to himself, quickly opening the window.
The owls filed in, piling gifts and letters all over his desk and the foot of his bed.
Some of the owls even playfully pecked at his fingers, seemingly urging him to hurry up and open the gift.
The first thing he saw was the gift his parents had given him; after all, their owl was quite extravagant.
This made Fox a little annoyed, and he hooted at the owl a few times!
Upon opening the package, one finds a snake-shaped brooch inlaid with emeralds and engraved with ancient runes.
The other item was a scarf made of unicorn hair, which felt very warm to the touch.
Kane took a solid gold watch out of the drawer; it was a gift for Lucius.
There was also a silver hair clip inlaid with moonstone, engraved with Narcissa's favorite lily pattern.
Kane handed the items to the owl and prepared to open the other gifts.
Then my gaze shifted to a small owl. It delivered a limited-edition Quidditch set.
This was sent by Draco.
Kane smiled and shook his head, then took a Quidditch strategy manual from the bookshelf and handed it to the owl to take back.
Seeing that the two owls ahead had already left, Fox rushed over and gestured for Kane to go look at his first.
Headmaster Dumbledore delivered a beautifully package and a letter written in deep purple ink.
Kane took the package and found a box of Honeydukes candies inside.
A note was also attached to the candy box: "May your Christmas be filled with sweetness and magic."
He opened the letter, and Dumbledore's familiar italicized handwriting came into view:
Dear Kane:
Thank you for the packets of Da Hong Pao tea you sent; they tasted wonderful. I must say, your taste is exceptional. The aroma and aftertaste of this tea reminded me of my youthful travels in the East. However, if you don't mind, I'd like a little more—of course, this is just a small request.
Furthermore, I must thank you again for your kindness, but please allow me to stand by my opinion: sweets are the most delicious things in the world. I hope this box of Honeydukes candies brings you some holiday joy.
Merry Christmas! May your holiday be filled with warmth and surprises.
Albus Dumbledore
Kane finished reading the letter, a slight smile playing on his lips. He gently stroked the candy box and murmured to himself, "Of course it's delicious, considering the price."
He took several packets of new Da Hong Pao tea from his desk drawer and handed them to Fox.
"Tell the principal that this is the last pack for the year, and tell him to drink it sparingly."
Fox blinked, seemingly understanding Kane's words, then flapped his wings and flew out the window.
Kane opened Professor McGonagall's gift; it was a thick book.
The title on the cover, embossed in gold, reads "Advanced Guide to Transfiguration".
Turning the pages, one is greeted by densely packed notes along the edges—a gift from Professor McGonagall, the handwriting neat and meticulous, clearly her own annotations.
"They really put their heart into it," Kane muttered to himself, a slight smile playing on his lips.
He remembered the gift he had given Professor McGonagall—a silver owl-shaped statue that could transform.
The statue is not only exquisite, but it can also transform into Professor McGonagall's cat form; she would surely love it.
Professor Flitwick sent over an exquisite model of Hogwarts.
Every detail in the model is incredibly lifelike; the castle towers, the Quidditch pitch, and even the trees of the Forbidden Forest are clearly visible.
Kane gave Professor Flitwick a music magic box containing some of the professor's favorite magical pieces.
Professor Sprout's gift was a thick plant care guide, with a note tucked between the pages.
Thanks to Kane for the plant protective case.
Kane smiled, thinking to himself that this professor was indeed particularly fond of his plants.
To Kane's surprise, Professor Snape's gift was a whole bottle of homemade Felix Felicis, complete with a detailed recipe.
Kane picked up the bottle and shook it gently. The golden liquid flowed inside, shimmering with an alluring light.
He couldn't help but chuckle softly: "Poor Draco, he still thinks he's drunk the real Felix Felicis. Looks like it's time to let him taste the real thing."
Kane wrote a letter to Snape, expressing his gratitude.
They also included a Malfoy shampoo family pack as a return gift.
He imagined Snape's expression when he received the shampoo and couldn't help but laugh again.
Kane's gaze fell on a hard, rocky flatbread.
This was a gift from Hagrid, with a note attached to the cookies: "Thank you for helping me with the Christmas decorations."
Kane shook his head helplessly, but still planned to give her a copy of "The Complete Guide to Raising Dragons" in return.
However, he suddenly thought of a problem—in the original story, Voldemort seemed to have sent the Norwegian Ridgeback Dragon after Christmas, but now it seems that the time has been brought forward.
"But there's nothing to worry about," Kane muttered to himself. "We still have two legendary wizards in the school, Dumbledore and Professor Ald. Even if Voldemort wanted to cause trouble, it wouldn't be so easy for him. Besides, Dumbledore wouldn't mess things up so badly, would he?"
Lady Hodge also sent Kane a pair of maintenance tools for flying brooms, along with Lady Hodge's instructions for use.
Kane reciprocated with a model of a flying magic broom, which could simulate various flying techniques.
Kane's gaze swept across the pile of gifts, and he suddenly noticed a simply wrapped package with no signature and only a small purple ribbon.
He frowned, his fingers lightly touching the package, sensing a faint magical fluctuation.
"Who sent this?" Kane muttered to himself, a sense of unease rising within him.
He carefully unpacked the package and found an old black magic notebook inside.
The notebook's cover bore the words, written in hasty handwriting: "To Kane Malfoy—may you go far on the path of magic."
Opening the notebook, Kane discovered that it contained many profound dark magic spells and theories, and even some rare methods for making dark magic items.
The last page of the notebook contained a letter, the handwriting trembling and messy:
Dear Kane:
I believe you, like me, have a deep yearning for the true meaning of magic. These notes are the culmination of my years of research, and I hope they will be helpful to you. If you are interested, we can discuss this further—after all, true power often lies hidden in forbidden knowledge.
Looking forward to your reply.
