Hogwarts' Golden Glory

Chapter 79 Harry's Eavesdropping

"You should be glad Lou Williams didn't crush your bones."

A pungent aroma of styrax wafted from the crack in the door, mixed with the stench of rotting flesh and blood.

Harry's eyes darted along the crack in the door.

Snape's black robe was ripped open, and blood was seeping from the wound on his right leg, almost dripping down.

Harry nearly vomited when Kane used the snake-bone dagger to pry open the rotting flesh—it was clearly rotten beyond repair.

"A potions professor who doesn't even know how to treat his own injuries."

Kane's voice continued to come from under the door.

"Does Dumbledore know you're doing this?"

Kane poured the dark green liquid onto the other person's wound, and white smoke instantly rose up.

"What did you say?"

Snape was somewhat surprised; he always felt that Kane knew far too much.

"Weren't you watching Quirrell? And you still got bitten?"

Kane said calmly.

I don't understand Snape. He was just trying to stop Quirrell from sneaking in during the chaos, but he ended up getting hurt by his own allies.

"That dog is impossible to keep an eye on; it has three heads. You try it if you dare."

When Snape saw that Kane knew all this, he didn't hold back and started complaining about Lou Williams.

"To be honest, I'd really like to get one; it would be great for guarding the house."

Kane smiled, then sprinkled some powder onto the other man's wound.

"Moonstone powder. That dog had something on its teeth that inhibited healing, which is why your injuries are getting worse."

At this moment, Harry, standing outside the door, was filled with a tremendous surge of emotions!

Kane and Snape seemed to be discussing the three-headed dog they had seen on the fourth floor, as well as Professor Quirrell.

But why was Snape staring at Professor Quirrell?

"Then why don't you just ask Rubeus Hagrid? He's the one who gave that dog to Dumbledore."

Snape suddenly spoke to Kane.

"Forget it, if he tells me that, then the sun has risen in the west."

Kane shook his head; by then, he had already bandaged the other person.

Harry was quite surprised to hear Hagrid's name!

He never imagined that the three-headed dog was actually Hagrid's pet!

At this moment, he already had a bold idea!

Those were Snape and Kane, both Voldemort's henchmen, who wanted to steal that thing and give it to Voldemort.

Quirrell, meanwhile, has been quietly trying to stop the two of them!

But he still hesitated, because he simply couldn't believe it. The kind and gentle Kane of the past few days could actually do such a thing!

At this point, he no longer cared about his own book; he wanted to go back and ask Hermione for her opinion.

Just as he turned to leave, the sound of footsteps caught the attention of Kane and Snape.

Snape quickly covered his wound.

"Who's outside?"

Harry, realizing he had been discovered, knocked on the door.

"It's me, Professor."

Snape scoffed, "The Potter brat!"

"Come in. What can I do for you?"

Harry pushed open the door and walked in, trying to pretend he knew nothing.

"Professor, I'm... I'm here to pick up my book."

Harry spoke haltingly, trying to maintain the same tone as the other person had used before.

"What gives you the audacity to come here and take my things?"

At this moment, Snape is targeting Harry again.

Kane spotted the book on the table immediately.

I knew it! How could Snape possibly read books about Quidditch?

"Harry, here you go."

Ignoring Snape, Kane handed the book directly to Harry.

"Th...thank you."

Harry took the book and turned to leave.

On the way, I kept thinking, how could Kane be a bad person?

Yes, it must have been Snape who threatened him!

Harry hurriedly left with "The Amazing Quidditch" in his hand.

The scene he had just witnessed kept replaying in his mind: Snape's injury and Kane's actions.

And those incomprehensible conversations were driving him crazy.

As soon as he returned to the Gryffindor Tower, he searched everywhere for Hermione, eager to pour out his doubts.

Finally, in a corner of the common room, Harry found Hermione engrossed in reading a thick book.

You absolutely cannot imagine what that scene was like!

Harry slammed "The Wonderful Quidditch" onto the coffee table. "Snape's wound is throbbing. Kane cut it off with his snake-tooth dagger—just like Kane's story of Guan Yu scraping the bone to heal his wound!"

Hermione thought for a moment: "Moonstone powder can indeed act as a moderating agent, suppressing some magical effects."

She turned to page 394 of her textbook. "And the textbook says that treating black magic bites also requires..."

"The key points are the things they mentioned!"

Harry snatched the book and voiced his guess!

Hermione frowned after hearing this, a doubtful look on her face. "Harry, I think you might have misheard."

"Professor Snape may be strict, but he is, after all, a teacher at Hogwarts, and Headmaster Dumbledore trusts him so much."

"And Kane, although he knows a lot, he's definitely not a bad person!"

At this point, Hermione trusted Dumbledore and Kane, and since both of them trusted Professor Snape, she naturally trusted him as well.

"I really didn't hear wrong, Hermione!" Harry stood up abruptly, gesturing with his hands.

"Their conversation sounds too suspicious, and Snape's injury is definitely related to that Cerberus on the fourth floor, I'm sure of it!"

Harry shuddered as he recalled the bloody, mangled wound.

Hermione bit her lip, thought for a moment, and said, "Okay, maybe we should ask someone. Didn't you just say that the three-headed dog belongs to Hagrid? Hagrid must know something."

The flames in the fireplace suddenly leaped up from under the armchair that Ron had kicked away.

"I want to go too!" He clutched half a crumpled chocolate frog card in his hand.

Hermione slammed her book shut, startling the owl dozing on the windowsill. "Ron Weasley! How long have you been eavesdropping behind the door?"

"Let's start with 'Snape's wounds move'."

Harry and Hermione looked at Ron in surprise, their faces full of displeasure.

"We won't take you there!"

Hermione spoke first, her tone resolute and unwavering.

Ron, however, stubbornly insisted, "I don't care. I think Kane is definitely not a good person, and I'm going to prove it to everyone."

"If you don't take me, I'll tell Professor McGonagall that you plan to investigate the secrets of the fourth floor on your own and may even violate school rules by approaching that dangerous three-headed dog."

Ron crossed his arms, clearly confident that he had Harry and Hermione under his thumb.

Harry's face flushed with anger. He clenched his fists and took a step forward. "Ron, how could you do this! This is no joke. We've discovered something very serious and need Hagrid's help."
