Hogwarts' Golden Glory
Chapter 75 Dealing with Potions
The excitement of the night left the Hogwarts students feeling a bit sleepy.
Harry yawned and came over to Kane's side.
"Kane, I think I know, it's Voldemort, he wants that little bag that Hagrid and I took out!"
Harry said to Kane with certainty.
Thinking Kane didn't understand what he meant, Harry explained in detail.
Hagrid and I took a small bag from vault 713 in Gringotts.
Then I saw the news in the Daily Prophet that someone had broken into the vault!
The three-headed dog they encountered a few days ago was guarding that thing.
Kane listened to Harry's analysis and nodded; indeed, there was nothing wrong with any of it.
"Don't worry, Harry. With Dumbledore and the others at Hogwarts, Voldemort will never succeed."
Hermione shared her opinion.
But Harry shook his head.
"No, I saw it last night, Voldemort was at Hogwarts!"
Then he lowered his voice.
"Did you know? Professor Quirrell is an imposter!"
Hearing this, Kane's heart skipped a beat. He didn't seem to have done anything wrong, did he?
Why isn't Harry suspecting Snape anymore?
He saw that both of their thoughts were focused on him.
Harry continued, "Professor Quirrell's cowardice is all an act! I saw him destroy Voldemort's things last night!"
"It's that fire from last night!"
Seeing their expressions, Harry assumed they didn't believe him, so he emphasized the incident from the previous night.
"Last night, before the fire even exploded, my scars started to ache. And I dreamt that Professor Quirrell threw something shiny into the fire, looking incredibly arrogant! Completely different from usual!"
Kane didn't answer because he knew the other person was talking about him. At that moment, he was still wondering if he was really that arrogant.
Hermione's brow furrowed. "Harry, since Professor Quirrell is pretending, we shouldn't expose him, or it might ruin the professors' plans."
Harry nodded; he felt the same way.
But he was still a little curious.
What did Professor Quirrell destroy?
Why does Voldemort look so uncomfortable?
Why do my scars hurt after something is destroyed?
And what is that three-headed dog guarding?
......
So many questions filled his mind!
Fortunately, Quidditch training helped Harry forget these troubles.
Kane then kept his promise and went to Snape's office to deal with the potion.
Kane initially thought the other party was going to give him special treatment.
But to my surprise, I found myself only going there to do manual labor.
Kane pushed open the other person's door, and a musty smell mixed with sulfur hit him.
"Three minutes late, Malfoy."
Snape's voice came from the shadows, his black robes billowing out like a bat.
He was dissecting a glowing slug with a silver dagger, the slime leaving scorch marks on the stone table.
"Professor, your watch is wrong." Kane pointed to the pocket watch on his hand, which showed the agreed time.
Snape didn't say much.
"Pick out the horned slugs," a voice drifted from beneath the black robes. "With silver tweezers—if the Malfoy trolls' claws can still distinguish silver from tin."
Kane nearly vomited when he got close to the wicker basket.
More than three hundred viscous, soft-bodied creatures were devouring each other, their translucent bodies filled with undigested beetle shells.
He trembled as he picked up an individual with sulfur-colored sharp horns.
The thing suddenly burst open, and the purple pus that sprayed out left scorch marks on the parchment.
"Clean it up." Without turning his head, Snape dripped moonflower juice into the salamander's blood.
The second basket was even worse—the kappa's brain matter, soaking in the fermented dragon dung liquid, was bubbling away.
The moment Kane's dragon-skin gloves touched the surface, five gray-pink brain tissues suddenly opened their bloodshot eyes.
When he used the coral knife to cut open the kappa's brain grooves, foul-smelling green brain matter flowed down the dissection table onto his boots.
Kane could hear the sound of his back teeth grinding together.
"Accurate to a quarter ounce." Snape appeared behind his shoulder at some point, holding a crystal measuring cup. "If you mix up the prefrontal and temporal lobes, the medical wing will have fifty more idiots with nosebleeds tomorrow."
As Kane was cutting through the thirteenth brain, he finally couldn't help but ask, "Professor, actually the Levitation Charm can..."
"Shut your mouth," Snape's voice remained icy. "When brain matter is treated with a spell, half the potency is wasted."
Kane nodded, indicating that he understood.
"Why aren't you doing it now?"
......
And while Kane was dealing with the potion.
Filch then suddenly came to visit.
"Professor, the potion you mentioned last time..." The administrator pushed open the door, his greasy hair covered in cobwebs.
Snape was a little confused.
"What kind of magic potion?"
Kane then remembered what he had looked like when he dressed up as Snape last time.
I promised to give Filch some magic potion to control the rats.
"Professor, the magic potion I mentioned last time that can cure those rats."
Filch was a little confused at this point. The professor's memory wasn't that bad, was it?
Snape frowned at Filch: "When did I ever promise anything like that?"
"It's just rat poison, don't be stingy, professor."
Kane suddenly used his silver knife to pry open a piece of the bleeding kappa's brain.
Snape's eyebrows almost flew into his hairline as he watched the boy stride quickly toward the storage shelf.
Kane ran his fingers over the twenty-odd jars labeled "highly poisonous" until he touched the "failure disposal area" that he had previously organized for Snape.
"Exudate of *Phaeodactylum indicum* with added moonstone powder."
Kane turned around, holding the bubbling emerald-colored potion.
"After spraying, it will cause rodents to hallucinate seeing owls, and they will not dare to leave their burrows for three days."
Filch's cloudy eyes lit up instantly, and as he reached out, he revealed a patch on his sleeve that had been chewed by a rat.
Snape suddenly used the tip of his snake-headed staff to stop the medicine bottle: "Wait, Mr. Kane seems to have forgotten to mention... the side effects?"
Kane felt a Levitation Charm crawling through his brain: "Uh, it turns the nails of anyone who gets it green. But a house-elf's Cleanse Charm can—"
"It also has a mild hallucinogenic effect," Snape suddenly added.
Filch had already uncorked the bottle and was sniffing it intensely: "Fantastic! This pungent sulfur smell will absolutely drive those beasts mad!"
As he walked backward, he was completely unaware that his hands had gotten a little liquid on them.
Snape looked very grim; he had a feeling that Kane was involved in this matter.
However, he couldn't see anything through the mind-controlling technique.
By the time the game ended, Kane's dragon-skin gloves were covered in colorful slime.
Kane promised that he would never eat animal brains again!
