Hogwarts' Golden Glory
Chapter 52 Intimidation?
Kane stepped forward at the other party's request.
The young wizards below weren't in good spirits; some of them had already recognized it—it was the Unforgivable Curse!
So, what spells will Kane help Professor Quirrell complete when he goes up there?
They dared not think any further!
Hermione was also a little worried, after all, the professor on the podium was really acting strangely today!
Ron stared at Kane as he slowly walked toward the podium, a hint of resentment in his eyes.
The professor must have been talking about dark magic! Kane must have come into contact with dark magic to have this kind of power!
What if you come into contact with it yourself?
He believed that if he could access dark magic, he would surpass Kane and become the center of attention.
Professor Quirrell's lips curled into a smug smile as he watched Kane take the stage.
He truly deserves to be a promising talent in our camp; his talent is unparalleled.
Unfortunately, they haven't yet realized who truly reigns supreme.
In an instant, the smile on his face turned into a chilling sneer.
He slowly raised his wand, pointed it again at the poor mouse in the cage, and said, word by word, "Crucible!"
In an instant, a blinding red light shot out from the tip of the wand, striking the rat precisely.
The mouse instantly let out a piercing scream, a sharp and desperate sound that echoed through the classroom, sending chills down everyone's spine.
Its body was twisting wildly, its tiny claws were flailing wildly in the air, and every muscle was twitching in pain.
The power of this Cruciatus Curse is far more terrifying than the previous Soul-Stealing Curse.
It brings real, deep-seated, excruciating pain.
The students in the audience had never seen such a cruel and bloody scene.
Many people were so frightened that their faces turned ashen, their legs went weak, and they collapsed to the ground.
Some of the more timid girls even screamed, tears welling up in their eyes.
The boys were mostly trembling, their eyes filled with fear and despair.
It was as if the excruciating pain was being inflicted upon them.
Neville, on the other hand, is in particularly bad shape right now.
When the light of the Crucifixion struck the rat, and its screams reached his ears, his eyes instantly became empty and lost.
A memory buried deep in my heart, long sealed away, surged forth like a flood bursting its banks.
He seemed to see Bella Trix's twisted and ferocious face as a child, brutally abusing his parents.
The image of the parents struggling in agony under the Heart-Rending Curse gradually overlapped with the miserable state of the rats before them.
His body began to tremble violently and uncontrollably, his lips quivering, but he couldn't utter a sound.
Neville's grandmother later erased this terrible memory to protect him.
But now, all of this has returned like a nightmare.
He clutched his head, slowly crouched down, and kept muttering to himself, "No... no..."
However, Kane stood aside, his expression unusually calm.
He crossed his arms over his chest, his eyes fixed on the tormented mouse.
There was no trace of fear on his face; instead, it revealed a calm scrutiny.
Amidst the chaos and panic in the audience, Kane's composure stood in stark contrast.
Upon seeing this, Professor Quirrell felt a strange emotion welling up inside him.
He had thought that the Crucifixion curse, imbued with his own emotions, would be enough to intimidate Kane and show this arrogant young man his true terror.
But Kane, standing before him, remained unmoved, which greatly challenged his pride.
"Kane, aren't you afraid?"
"Professor Quirrell" asked through gritted teeth, enunciating each word clearly, his voice tinged with barely concealed anger.
Kane raised an eyebrow slightly, shifting his gaze from the rat to Professor Quirrell, and said calmly, "Fear solves nothing."
His voice wasn't loud, but it was exceptionally clear in the chaotic classroom.
Every word was like a heavy hammer blow to Professor Quirrell's heart.
A flicker of surprise crossed Professor Quirrell's eyes, which quickly turned into even more intense rage.
He waved his wand again, increasing the magical output of the Crucifixion Curse.
The rats' screams grew increasingly shrill, and a nauseating stench of blood filled the classroom.
But Kane remained unmoved, and even a hint of disdain flashed in his eyes.
He knew all too well that the "Professor Quirrell" before him was nothing special.
He couldn't possibly risk being kicked out by Dumbledore by harming a student!
After all, Voldemort needs the Philosopher's Stone now.
At this moment, Voldemort realized that the frequent use of powerful dark magic was rapidly depleting his strength.
He had to make a choice: to temporarily go into hibernation in order to preserve his strength.
Voldemort's consciousness then gradually faded, and he fell into a deep sleep.
Quirrell slowly opened his eyes, his gaze still filled with confusion and bewilderment.
He subconsciously rubbed his head, as if he had just woken up from a long and chaotic dream.
His eyes widened instantly when his gaze fell upon the scene in the classroom.
The classroom was a mess. Students were either slumped on the floor or huddled in corners, trembling, their faces filled with fear and shock.
The rat, its flesh mangled from painful self-mutilation, lay motionless in its cage.
Quirrell opened his mouth, as if to say something, but found his throat terribly dry.
His gaze swept over the students below the stage, and he keenly noticed that their attitude towards him had undergone a dramatic change.
The looks that used to carry a hint of disdain or curiosity have disappeared, replaced by deep fear.
His gaze fell on Kane, and his heart skipped a beat.
Kane was looking at him calmly, his eyes showing no fear, only a knowing understanding of everything.
"What... what's going on?" Quirrell stammered, his voice trembling violently.
He tried to pretend he knew nothing, hoping to get away with it.
No student answered his question, and the classroom was deathly silent.
Quirrell swallowed hard, forcing himself to remain calm, and said, "That's all for today's lesson. Everyone, please go home."
His voice was weak and feeble, clearly indicating that Voldemort's attack had taken a heavy toll on him.
The students, as if granted a pardon, stood up and stumbled out of the classroom.
Quirrell stood on the podium, watching the students' departing figures, his heart filled with mixed emotions.
The classroom gradually emptied out, leaving only Neville still sitting in the same spot.
His gaze was fixed blankly ahead, and his body was still trembling slightly uncontrollably.
Kane didn't leave immediately. His gaze fell on Neville, and he knew that what had just happened must have had a significant impact on Neville.
Kane walked to Neville's side and said softly, "Neville, I'll take you to the infirmary."
Neville, however, showed no reaction, as if he hadn't heard Kane's words and remained immersed in his own world.
Kane frowned slightly, leaned down, gently patted Neville's shoulder, and repeated himself in a higher voice.
This time, Neville slowly raised his head, his eyes bloodshot, filled with pain and confusion.
"Kane... I... I think I've remembered something terrible." Neville's voice trembled, on the verge of tears.
Kane didn't ask any questions, but silently helped Neville to his feet, letting him put his arm on his shoulder to support his weak body.
The two slowly walked towards the classroom door. As they passed the podium, Kane's gaze swept over Professor Quirrell.
Quirrell instinctively avoided Kane's gaze, his heart filled with worry.
Throughout the journey, Neville's condition was very unstable.
Kane could only try his best to steady himself and quicken his pace toward the infirmary.
Meanwhile, Dumbledore was also present at the school hospital.
