Hogwarts' Golden Glory

Chapter 50 An Unexpected Incident in Defense Against the Dark Arts Class

Although Neville was ultimately penalized.

But by lunchtime, Neville had completely forgotten the unpleasantness from earlier.

Kane was also sitting in the Great Hall enjoying his meal, and he was almost finished eating.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw two figures waving vigorously at him from the entrance of the auditorium.

"Sizzle, sizzle~"

"George, do you think Kane can see us?"

Fred nudged George beside him and asked with a grin.

George pointed at Kane, who had already noticed them, and raised an eyebrow: "Look, you can see him now."

Seeing this, Kane stood up, strode over to the two men, and pulled out a bag: "This is the remaining Galon. It's been a pleasure doing business with you!"

After the two accepted the gifts, Kane extended his fist.

The two brothers exchanged a smile, and readily extended their fists to lightly bump against Kane's.

"Kane, we've got a really fun plan for tonight, wanna come?" George suggested enthusiastically.

Kane shook his head. He was joking; he was a good kid who had already received special attention from the principal.

How can you go out at night?

"Oh dear, that's such a pity!" Fred said with a look of regret, then his eyes lit up with excitement.

"We're planning to sneak into Filch's room at night. I heard it's full of magical artifacts from all the students he's confiscated over the years—it's going to be incredibly exciting!"

"That's right, trust me, it will definitely open your eyes!" George chimed in.

Kane's mind raced as he listened to their conversation.

"What time is it tonight?"

Kane was still tempted by the Marauder's Map that Filch had once confiscated.

He also wanted to see this alchemical artifact that allowed him to see the entire school.

"Great, Kane has joined!"

The two brothers cheered!

"Great! Kane's on the team!" The two brothers were so excited they almost jumped for joy.

"It's 11 PM tonight! Filch will be out on patrol then, we'll sneak in then. Kane, don't forget to be on time!"

After saying that, the two, who were in a hurry to buy magical items, turned to leave.

Kane reacted quickly and grabbed them.

"George, Fred, I heard you two made a fake wand? You think it can be used to cast some minor spells?"

The two looked at Kane with puzzled expressions: "We haven't done that! When did you hear about it? But I admit it's a good idea!"

"Do you need this little thing? It's very simple, and we both happen to have no classes this afternoon, so we can give it a try!"

"Sure, just come to me if you need anything! After all, I'm part of the team too!" Kane said to the two with a smile.

The two brothers were overjoyed to hear this. Where else could they find such a good thing as financial support? They nodded in agreement without hesitation.

At that moment, Filch, completely unaware that his "treasure trove" was about to be coveted, suddenly sneezed in his office.

"Oh dear, it must be because it's too cold today!"

He muttered to Mrs. Lorris, then got up and went to get a thick coat.

As I passed by, I saw the guy lying on the ground and kicked him again.

"Mr. Kane's spell really works! Almost a whole day has passed, and Peeves is still lying on the ground unable to move."

"Life without Peeves is wonderful. Mr. Kane is such a kind wizard. Once Peeves can move again, should I ask him for help?"

Slytherin and Gryffindor have two consecutive Defense Against the Dark Arts classes in the afternoon.

Kane, Hermione, Draco, and their group sat in the back row as usual.

Surprisingly, Harry also sat in the back today, right next to Draco.

At that moment, Draco was excitedly recounting to Harry how he had narrowly escaped a Muggle plane and managed to get away with it.

Kane sat quietly to the side, holding a copy of "An Introduction to Ancient Alchemy" in his hands, with three other similar books stacked beside him, reading with great interest.

"You're turning the page too fast, turn back." Hermione suddenly reached out and stopped Kane's hand, which was about to turn the page, and turned the book back.

Kane was somewhat surprised, as Hermione was usually very focused in class and was a model student.

Why am I reading "idle books" with him today?

Although he had doubts, he didn't stop her. Instead, he patiently explained the obscure and difficult knowledge in the book to Hermione.

"What does this sentence mean?" Hermione asked, pointing to a line of ancient magical text.

"This is ancient magical language, meaning 'life replacement,' which involves changing the very essence of life. It's quite profound..." Kane explained in detail.

Hermione became increasingly alarmed as she listened, realizing that Kane knew everything about the things she didn't understand.

Even this ancient and difficult-to-understand language of magic, Kane could easily decipher.

She couldn't help but think to herself that no matter how hard she tried, it would probably be difficult for her to catch up with Kane.

Professor Quirrell clearly saw their obvious movements.

He certainly wouldn't care if it were any other junior wizard.

After all, he had a Dark Lord inside him, and he was in the perilous Hogwarts!

In this school, it's always better to avoid trouble!

But yesterday, the Dark Lord specifically instructed him to contact Kane, which put him in a very difficult position.

He privately inquired about Kane's actions over the past few days.

Knowing that this kid had clashed with students and frequently communicated with teachers in just a few days, I felt quite uneasy.

I'm really afraid that if I'm not careful, I'll provoke this "little tyrant" and get a beating.

So, during the Defense Against Magic class, Professor Quirrell suppressed his anxiety, his gaze frequently glancing towards Kane's position.

His hands, hidden beneath his robe, trembled slightly.

It was both due to the oppressive presence of the Dark Lord behind them and the tension stemming from what they were about to do.

While the students were focused on practicing the Green Spark Spell they had just been taught.

Quirrell cleared his throat and walked toward Kane, forcing a smile.

"Kane, could you demonstrate this spell again so everyone can learn it? I'll give you extra points."

He tried his best to make his voice sound gentle and friendly, but it still couldn't help but tremble slightly.

Kane looked up abruptly, and the classroom was filled with the smell of garlic, so much so that he didn't even notice the source of the smell coming right next to him.

But why did the other party suddenly come to find him?

"Professor, which spell will you demonstrate?"

Kane stood up, completely bewildered, and asked blankly.

After all, he hadn't listened at all.

Professor Quirrell's heart skipped a beat, realizing he was in trouble. In his nervousness, he had forgotten to tell Kane which spell to demonstrate.

He glanced at Kane's wand beside him, fearing that the kid might get angry and make a move.

He had no choice but to bite the bullet and gently say, "Green Spark Spell."

Kane nodded and took out his wand, Dragon's Roar.

Then, clearly and accurately recite the incantation: "Green Spark!"

In an instant, a powerful surge of magical energy erupted from the tip of the wand, and a thick, green spark, as thick as a python, shot out.

Its colors were bright and dazzling, sweeping outwards like a tidal wave.

This spell has two effects: one is to interfere with the target, and the other is to illuminate and transmit signals.

Professor Quirrell, standing next to Kane, saw the dazzling green light.

Suddenly, a "buzz" went through my head, and a terrible, long-buried memory surged into my mind like a tidal wave.

His legs went weak, and he uncontrollably stumbled backward a few steps. Then, everything went black, and he fainted.

Harry, sitting next to Draco, suddenly felt a sharp pain in his scar.

The feeling was exactly the same as when I looked at Snape after I was sorted into the Houses—it was unforgettable.

The students in the classroom were stunned as they watched the professor inexplicably faint.

Just as everyone was about to crowd around to check on the situation, Professor Quirrell swayed and stood up again.

But now, his voice was no longer stuttering, and his eyes revealed a chilling coldness: "Alright, let's continue the lesson."
