Hogwarts' Golden Glory
Chapter 187 Departure
Nighttime, on the terrace of the Delacour estate.
The four sat around a small table, on which sat a blueberry pie and hot tea that the house-elf had just baked.
Gabrielle yawned and rubbed her eyes.
But he still stubbornly refused to go to sleep: "Draco, tell me another story..."
Draco glanced at her, intending to refuse.
But seeing how sleepy she was, he finally sighed and said, "...the last one."
He picked up the fairy tale book at random, turned to a page, and began to read it aloud softly.
The magic in the book transforms the story into a three-dimensional illusion.
The little knight and the fire-breathing dragon reappear, enacting an adventure legend under the starlight.
Gabrielle leaned back in the chair next to him.
My eyelids gradually grew heavy, and eventually my eyes slowly closed.
Draco paused his story, hesitating for a moment.
He reached out and gently pulled the blanket that had slipped off her back onto her.
At this moment, even time itself seems to soften.
In the following days, Fleur, along with Kane, Draco, and Gabrielle, secretly slipped into a Muggle town near Nice.
Sunlight shines on the cobblestone streets.
On both sides are brightly colored cafes and bakeries filled with the aroma of fresh bread.
The Muggles hurried past, completely unaware of the wizard mingling among them.
Kane stood in front of an antique clock shop.
Looking through the shop window at the intricate gear structure inside, a rare hint of interest flashed in his eyes.
Fleur gently took his arm and pointed to an open-air ice cream shop in the distance: "Try that, the Muggle vanilla ice cream is richer than our magical ice cream."
Draco frowned, staring at the "cola" the Muggle clerk had handed him.
Hesitantly took a sip, then coughed from the irritation of the bubbles.
Gabrielle giggled beside her, handing over her strawberry ice cream: "Try this! It's much sweeter than the soothing agent!"
Draco's brow finally relaxed a little under the sunlight.
He took the ice cream and took a bite under Gabrielle's expectant gaze.
The sweet cream melts on the tip of your tongue.
He gave a light hum: "...Not bad."
Dusk on the fifth day.
When the four returned to Delacour estate from the seaside.
A familiar figure was pacing anxiously back and forth in the garden.
Dobby's ears perked up with tension.
He was wearing a tea towel that was clearly something he had found at the last minute.
The family crest of the Delacour family was embroidered crookedly on it.
"Dobby?"
Kane's voice made the house-elf turn around abruptly, its large, bulbous eyes instantly filling with tears.
"Your Highness, Lord Kane!" Dobby screamed and rushed over.
I almost tripped over my own tea towel.
"Dobby, I've finally seen you again! Dobby, every single day—"
He choked back tears, his slender fingers gripping the hem of Kane's robe tightly.
"Everyone's counting down the days until the young master returns!"
Kane looked down at the little elf who was trembling with excitement.
She reached out and gently patted his wrinkled head: "Did Father send you?"
Dobby nodded vigorously, his ears slapping against the ground. "Master said we have to go back tomorrow! It's important! Dobby brought the young masters clean robes, and also Draco's favorite mints."
During dinner, Gabrielle kept her head down.
He mechanically poked at the blueberry pie on the plate with his fork.
When Madame de la Cour announced that the Malfoy brothers would be sent away first thing the next morning, her fork clattered to the ground.
"Are you leaving so soon?" Her voice was much softer than usual.
Draco was about to give a casual, perfunctory reply.
Looking up, I saw Gabrielle's eyes were red and she was stubbornly biting her lower lip.
He paused, then put down his napkin: "...I'm just going back to take care of some things."
Gabrielle suddenly stood up.
The chair scraped against the floor with a harsh sound: "I...I'm going to get something!"
After saying that, he ran out.
Fleur sighed and explained softly to Kane, "She's been preparing gifts for you these past few days."
In the rose garden under the moonlight.
Gabrielle was holding a small box tied with a silver ribbon.
They stopped Draco, who was about to return to his room.
"Here you go." She shoved the box into Draco's hand, her voice muffled. "Don't open it now."
Draco hefted the light box and raised an eyebrow: "Another teapot that bites?"
Gabrielle shook her head, her golden hair shimmering softly in the moonlight: "Yes...it's something that reminds you of France."
She suddenly stepped forward and quickly hugged Draco.
Then, like a startled bird, it backed away, saying, "Remember to write to me!"
Draco froze on the spot, the box in his hand suddenly feeling heavy.
He opened his mouth, but in the end he only gave a soft "hmm".
At dawn, the Delacour estate was shrouded in a silvery-blue mist.
Furong stood on the steps and said goodbye to the group.
"She stayed up very late last night."
"Furong said softly, her gaze sweeping over the tightly closed curtains on the second floor—Gabrielle's bedroom."
"I had my house-elf add some sleeping pills to her hot cocoa."
A bitter smile appeared on her lips. "This child is too emotional; she's not suited for this kind of... situation."
Kane stood beside the carriage, the morning mist condensing into tiny droplets on his black robe.
He reached out and took the luggage from the house-elf.
He tapped lightly on the hidden compartment of the box with his fingertips—it contained several handwritten copies of forbidden books that Furong had secretly slipped to him the night before.
"Are you sure you don't want to wake her?" Draco walked over, yawning, his tie hanging loosely around his neck.
"That little monster will definitely make a fuss for weeks because he missed his farewell."
"Don't call her that." Her voice was soft, but it made Draco unconsciously take a half step back.
Kane noticed that Fleur's eyes were slightly red, as if she hadn't slept all night.
Dobby suddenly emerged from under the carriage, a small, glowing blue flower pinned to his pointed ears.
It was clearly Gabrielle's doing. "My esteemed young masters, the luggage is all packed! Dobby has even prepared energy drinks and motion sickness candy!"
Suddenly, Hibiscus stepped forward and hung a dark blue amulet embroidered with silver thread around Kane's neck.
"May the Veela's blessing protect you."
Dobby suddenly let out a sob: "Dobby will miss the little cakes at Delacour Estate!"
It blew non-existent snot with a tea towel, then snapped its fingers.
The carriage door opened silently, revealing an interior space that had been enchanted with a stretching spell, making it much more spacious than it appeared from the outside.
Draco stepped into the carriage first, deliberately complaining loudly about his early morning drowsiness.
Kane glanced back as he stepped onto the carriage.
A figure flashed past through the gap in the curtains on the second floor.
It was unclear whether it was the morning light or the shadow of Gabrielle peeking out.
Dobby sat in the driver's seat, pretending to drive while secretly wiping away tears: "Dobby will always remember Miss Fleur's lemon pie..."
As the carriage passed through the manor gates, a hidden magical barrier rippled.
Kane's amulet suddenly became hot, and when he looked down, he saw the gold threads on it twisting into an unfamiliar rune.
It's not the Beauxbatons logo, but a sophisticated "M".
Draco leaned back in the opposite seat and suddenly chuckled, "That thing on your neck isn't very attractive."
But his gaze, which he turned away from, lacked its usual harshness; instead, it carried a complex emotion.
The carriage gradually moved further and further away, disappearing into the depths of the morning mist.
Hibiscus remained standing by the fountain until she could no longer hear the sound of wheels.
She sighed softly, and when she turned around, she saw Gabrielle standing on the steps in her pajamas.
Holding the snow-white cat in her arms, she showed no signs of sleepiness.
"I added a double dose of the sobering agent," Gabrielle said smugly, her eyes red. "I don't want to miss saying goodbye."
