Hogwarts' Golden Glory

Chapter 184 Fudge's Downfall

"This...this is all a frame-up!" Fudge screamed hysterically.

"The Malfoys bribed the French!"

Montclair's expression instantly darkened: "Minister, this accusation is extremely serious. I must demand that you provide evidence immediately, otherwise it will be considered an insult to our Ministry of Magic."

Fudge's lips moved, but he couldn't utter a single word.

His gaze swept across the room—Dumbledore's disappointed shake of the head, Lucius's mocking sneer, Kane's icy stare... finally settling on his own trembling hands.

"I...I need to explain..." His voice suddenly became extremely weak.

"Then I'll let you die knowing why."

Just then, the bushes in the rose garden suddenly rustled.

Everyone's wands instantly pointed towards the source of the sound.

Then another "Kane Malfoy" was pushed out, staggering.

His hands were bound with silver ropes, and his mouth was gagged with a wad of cloth.

The marks of the beating were still visible on his face.

Now, an unfamiliar face is gradually emerging: a round nose, sparse eyebrows, and a scar on the left cheek.

"Mundungus Fletcher!" an Auror exclaimed.

"Minister, could you please explain your relationship with this person?"

Then Kane took a crystal bottle out of his pocket.

Inside was the "Starry Sky Sapphire," which was now emitting an eerie black mist.

Fudge's face turned deathly pale: "You...how could you..."

"How did you manage to catch your 'actor'?" Kane raised an eyebrow elegantly.

"Perhaps it's because of the tracking magic that Minister Fudge left on the base."

Lucius Malfoy stepped forward at the opportune moment.

The snake-headed cane slammed heavily on the ground: "I demand an explanation, Minister. Hiring someone to impersonate my son and steal in the dead of night—this is more than just defamation."

The crowd erupted in uproar.

Officials from the French Ministry of Magic were also gossiping and whispering among themselves.

Dumbledore waved his wand gently: "Perhaps we should hear what Mr. Fletcher has to say?"

A magic spell removed the cloth from the thief's mouth.

Fletcher's mouth gaped open instantly: "Minister Fudge made me do it! He gave me five hundred Galleons and a piece of Kane Malfoy's hair! He said that if I pretended to steal the jewels, I could ruin the Malfoy family's reputation!"

Furong gasped.

She noticed that Kane's expression remained completely unchanged.

It was as if all of this was within his expectations.

Fudge, like a cornered beast, frantically waved his hands: "Nonsense! This is a frame-up! The Malfoys bribed this liar!"

"Interesting." Kane slowly took a roll of parchment from his sleeve.

"Then what about this magical contract? It has your signature and the Ministry of Magic's special anti-counterfeiting ink."

Dumbledore took the parchment, a sharp glint in his eyes behind his half-moon spectacles: "It is indeed the minister's signature. The binding spell on the magical contract also indicates that this is a genuine employment agreement."

Fudge's legs began to tremble, and he looked around for help.

But everyone in the crowd was pretending to adjust their clothes.

He did not look Fudge in the eye.

"I...I can explain..." Fudge's voice was already trembling with sobs.

"This is all in order to investigate the Malfoy family's connection to dark magic..."

"You can say those things during the trial."

The situation was completely out of control.

The Aurors looked at each other, unsure how to deal with their superior.

Representatives from the French Ministry of Magic have quietly Apparated away, fearing they might be drawn into the scandal.

They took the money and did the job; this matter is no longer their concern.

"I think," Dumbledore's voice was calm yet powerful, "we need to contact the Department of Magical Law Enforcement immediately. Cornelius, you'd better resign..."

"No!" Fudge suddenly sprang to his feet, his wand pointed directly at Kane. "It's all your fault, you cunning little..."

"Disarm you!"

A beam of red light shot out faster than Fudge.

It hit Fudge's wand precisely.

This dramatic scene silenced the entire audience.

No one really understood why a minister would target a child like this.

But now we see the level of skill in casting this spell.

The underestimation of Kane has also disappeared.

Dumbledore clapped softly: "A brilliant disarming spell, Mr. Malfoy."

He turned to Fudge, who was slumped on the ground, and said, "I think Wizengamo would be very interested in you."

Lucius has summoned his house-elves: "Inform the Daily Prophet and all members of Wizengamor, we have big news."

Furong watched as this farce came to an end.

Suddenly, I noticed that Kane had quietly retreated to the edge of the crowd.

She followed him: "You knew all along? Then why did they let me out?"

Kane turned his head: "Fudge initially wanted someone to testify that I stole the so-called gem. But then Lockhart showed up."

"But how did you find Fletcher? Really just with a tracking spell?"

Kane's lips curled into a barely perceptible smile: "Mundungus has never been a good keeper of secrets."

Furong suddenly realized everything that had happened tonight.

From the refusal at the banquet to the trap in the rose garden, and now to the public exposure—it was all part of Kane's plan.

"Wait a minute," she lowered her voice, "So Director Montclair is also..."

Kane did not answer, but instead cast his gaze into the distance.

Dumbledore was walking slowly towards him.

Behind the crescent-shaped glasses, blue eyes gleamed with an all-knowing light.

"A fantastic performance, Kane. I thought you'd need this old man's help."

The old principal's voice was gentle yet powerful.

"But I'd like to ask, after Fudge's downfall, who would you like to see take over as Minister of Magic?"

Furong held her breath.

This question is too direct; it's almost equivalent to asking about the Malfoy family's political leanings.

Kane's grey-blue eyes narrowed slightly. "I thought the headmaster was already chosen. Rufus Scrimgeour, wasn't he?"

Dumbledore raised an eyebrow almost imperceptibly: "I originally thought the Malfoys would object to this choice. After all, Scrimgeour's attitude toward...certain forces...is well-known."

The night wind suddenly turned fierce.

Kane gently stroked his wand with his fingertips: "The Malfoy family has no connection with any 'power'."

His voice was as calm as if he were discussing the weather.

"We are loyal only to the laws and order of the magical world."

Dumbledore nodded and said with a smile.

"Does your father know what you're thinking?"

"My father," Kane said, a graceful smile curving his lips, "always knew exactly what was best for the family."

A commotion arose in the distance.

Fudge and his loyal assistant Umbridge are being escorted away by the Aurors.

His cries sounded particularly piercing in the night air: "I've been framed! The Malfoys colluded with the French..."

Dumbledore sighed softly: "Cornelly can never learn; there are some games he can't play."
