Hogwarts' Golden Glory
Chapter 18 Gang Fight
With a gentle wave of Professor Snape's wand, a strange surge of magical energy instantly spread out.
The furniture that was originally located in the center of the Slytherin common room seemed to be drawn by some mysterious force, disappearing one by one, and in the blink of an eye, it was replaced by a uniquely shaped circular arena.
The edge of the arena was adorned with intricate serpentine stripes, which, illuminated by the eerie green light, seemed to come alive at any moment, exuding a cold and majestic aura.
The arena was quite large, easily accommodating all the eager young wizards around it.
"If you want to run for office, step onto this stage! Let me warn you beforehand: once you stand here, it means you'll be facing a life-or-death crisis! I won't be treating you like delicate flowers."
Professor Snape extended his long wand, pointing it directly at the central arena. His cold gaze swept over the group of young wizards who had been standing to his left, his voice deep and authoritative, conveying an unquestionable resolve.
Upon hearing this, many of the young wizards turned deathly pale, their previously excited expressions instantly crumbling.
They initially believed that the election was nothing more than casting a few simple spells and demonstrating their abilities to convince everyone and thus easily win the top position.
But now it seems that things are far from as easy as they imagined, and the danger involved is far greater than expected.
However, some young wizards, full of confidence in their abilities, strode onto the arena without hesitation, their posture upright and their eyes gleaming with fierce fighting spirit.
Even so, about half of the people in the audience still hesitated, their feet seemingly nailed to the ground.
Professor Snape looked at the hesitant little snakes, a hint of disdain flashing in his deep eyes.
"Why aren't you coming up yet? I don't have time to wait here idly. If you keep dawdling, I'll consider it an automatic surrender." Under the intimidation of his cold words, a few more young wizards gritted their teeth and slowly walked onto the arena with slightly heavy steps.
However, when their gaze fell upon their opponents on the stage, who were already fully prepared, their confidence instantly vanished, and their eyes were filled with tension and unease.
Those young wizards who were still standing below the stage, lacking the courage to go up, were now blushing and bowing their heads in shame.
Draco stood aside, watching these cowardly fellows, and couldn't help but laugh along with his henchmen Crabbe and Goyle.
"Alright, now that everything is ready, let's begin! Remember, there can only be one champion. Only the person who stands on this stage at the end is worthy of this honor!"
Professor Snape stood quietly to the side, arms crossed, observing with indifference.
But to everyone's surprise, as soon as the professor finished speaking, the arena fell into a deathly silence, with no one making a move.
The young wizards exchanged glances, their eyes filled with hesitation and apprehension. After all, they would be classmates soon, constantly running into each other. If they acted too harshly now, things might get difficult in the future.
"If you don't even dare to cast a spell, then I'll now assume you're out of the game." Professor Snape's voice rang out again, like a heavy hammer striking everyone's hearts.
In an instant, as if a fuse had been lit, half of the crowd suddenly raised their wands and launched a fierce attack on Kane with one unified goal.
He collapsed to the ground, completely unconscious!
"Disarm you!"
"Immediately imprison them!"
A series of malevolent curses, accompanied by multicolored light, shot towards Kane with the speed of arrows released from a bow.
In their minds, Kane, who stole the show at the Sorting Ceremony, was undoubtedly the most formidable rival at present. As long as they could deal with him first, the position of First Master would be within their grasp.
Seeing this, Kane remained calm and composed, quickly drawing his wand from his robes.
He couldn't help but sigh inwardly. Most of these children came from pure-blood families and must have received some magical enlightenment before entering school. Although the power of the spells they cast was still immature, they were not to be underestimated because they could use them skillfully at such a young age.
"Protect me!" Kane murmured the incantation, and a dazzling blue light instantly emanated from the tip of his wand. The blue light quickly spread out, forming an indestructible magical barrier around him.
The evil curses that surged forth like a tide, once they touched this barrier, were as if they had hit an invisible wall, changing direction and bouncing back directly onto the caster.
Caught completely off guard, the spellcasters fell victim to the curse.
The person who had fainted fell straight down, instantly losing consciousness.
Those who were supposed to be restrained and unable to move felt as if their limbs were tightly bound by countless ropes, and they stood frozen in place.
Several unlucky guys were sent flying by the powerful rebound force, crashing awkwardly to the edge of the ring.
At this moment, they were all staggering and in a sorry state, having lost the ability to fight any longer, which was equivalent to being eliminated directly.
The remaining little snakes, witnessing this scene, looked at each other in bewilderment, a hint of panic flashing in their eyes.
After a brief exchange of glances, they quickly reached an understanding and swarmed around Kane, trapping him tightly in the middle.
Everyone looked solemn, gripping their wands tightly, staring intently at Kane as if he were a ferocious beast about to devour them.
"You guys should just admit defeat, so you don't get hurt and suffer later."
Kane stood tall and composed in the encirclement, a confident smile playing on his lips, as he spoke calmly.
"Hmph, we outnumber you! If anyone's going to admit defeat, it'll be you who surrenders! Brothers, charge! He must have been hit by our spell and injured, which is why he's trying to persuade us to give up. Don't listen to him!" From the crowd, a tall, muscular girl with a full head of black hair suddenly raised her thick chin, her face flushed red, and shouted at the top of her lungs.
After hearing her analysis, everyone felt it made a lot of sense, and their confidence instantly returned. They all nodded in agreement.
"That's right! You should admit defeat and get off the stage. We don't want to bully others and gain a reputation for bullying!" one of the boys chimed in.
Draco, watching from below the stage, stomped his feet in anger, filled with resentment and indignation.
He was secretly annoyed. If he had known the election rules were like this, he should have rushed onto the stage without hesitation to help Kane, so that Kane wouldn't have to face so many opponents alone.
"This is an unfair victory! So many of you ganging up on Kane, what kind of skill is that!"
Draco was yelling and cursing from the audience, while also urging Crabbe and Goyle next to him to join in, trying to speak up for Kane.
