Hogwarts' Golden Glory
Chapter 113 Quidditch After Christmas
Breakfast time had just passed, and most of the people in the auditorium had already left.
Harry saw Kane Malfoy standing alone at the Slytherin table, packing his books.
"Wait for me," Harry whispered to the three people beside him, and hurried across the Great Hall.
Kane looked up at the sound of footsteps, and raised an eyebrow slightly when he saw it was Harry: "Potter?"
His voice was so calm it was devoid of emotion. "If it's about the points deducted last night, I think you should go and plead with Professor McGonagall."
"Not that one."
Harry took a deep breath. "It's about Norbert. Hagrid agreed—if you really have a way to get the dragon to safety."
Kane tapped his fingers lightly on the spine of "Advanced Potion Making," as if he were pondering something.
Just then, Draco Malfoy suddenly appeared from the side, his platinum blonde hair shimmering in the sunlight.
"Nober?"
Draco's eyes lit up instantly. "You mean that Norwegian Ridgeback? Merlin, Father just expanded the dragon farm in the south wing last year!"
He turned excitedly to Kane, "We can keep it in the Fireball Zone, there's a full set there—"
"Draco".
Kane interrupted softly, his voice carrying the warning tone characteristic of an older brother, "This matter needs to be kept secret."
Draco immediately shut his mouth, but his eyes still gleamed with excitement.
He made a gagging motion, then leaned closer to Harry and whispered, "Our dragon farm has the most advanced Constant-Warm Charm in the world..."
Harry was surprised to find that Draco looked like an ordinary eleven-year-old boy who was fascinated by dragons.
Instead of the Slytherin who boasted about himself all day long.
"I'll contact the dragon farm," Kane told Harry. "They'll send professionals to arrange the transport. Have Hagrid get ready in the next few days."
After receiving confirmation from Kane, Harry returned to Ron and Hermione's side.
"Harry, what were you doing just now?"
"Hagrid agreed to send Norber away," Harry said in a low voice. "Kane said he'll arrange for professionals to take Norber to a professional dragon farm."
Ron's eyes suddenly lit up: "Wait—my second brother Charlie works at a dragon farm in Romania!"
He slammed his hand on the table excitedly, drawing the attention of several Ravenclaw students. "We can ask him for help!"
Hermione looked up from her book, her brow furrowing slightly. "But Kane already agreed—"
"It's never a bad idea to be prepared," Ron said, pulling out a crumpled parchment and a quill. "Who knows if the Malfoys might suddenly change their minds? Charlie is absolutely trustworthy!"
Harry watched as Ron hastily scribbled down "Urgent! About a Norwegian Spinosaurus" but didn't stop him.
After all, this matter concerns the safety of Hagrid and Norbert, and having more options will make them feel more at ease.
"How are you going to explain Norbert's origins?" Hermione asked worriedly. "You can't exactly say Hagrid illegally hatched the dragon eggs, can you?"
Ron chewed on the end of his quill pen, thinking for a moment, when suddenly a brilliant idea struck him: "Let's say it's the wild baby dragon we found on the edge of the Forbidden Forest! Charlie loves that kind of thing; he used to go into the Forbidden Forest all the time when he was in school."
Amidst the splashes of ink, Ron described Norber's appearance in detail.
Harry noticed that he had even drawn a crooked diagram, marking the distinctive diamond-shaped scale on Norbert's hind paw.
"...Please reply as soon as possible."
Ron finished writing the last line, blew on the ink to dry it, and said, "Perfect! I'll mail it out this afternoon."
A few days later, the competition was approaching, and the young wizards had already forgotten about Gryffindor's point deduction, after all, they still needed Harry to win this competition.
The Quidditch pitch trembled from the cheers.
Almost the entire student body came, and even Dumbledore made it to the scene.
The crimson of Gryffindor clashed fiercely with the bright yellow of Hufflepuff in the stands.
Harry's fingers trembled involuntarily as he stepped onto Nimbus 2000.
Professor Snape, dressed in a black robe, stood in the center of the court, looking like a giant bat, with an unsettling smirk on his lips.
Harry couldn't quite understand the other person's attitude. Last time in Potions class, he used a method from the other person's notes and was scolded for it.
Fortunately, Kane came to his rescue; otherwise, Gryffindor would have lost points for disrespecting his teacher.
"I decide the rules."
Snape's voice, like cold, slimy mucus, slid across the court: "Any foul—"
He glanced meaningfully at the Gryffindor team, "They will all be severely punished."
As soon as the starting whistle blew, Angelina sprinted towards the Hufflepuff goal with her Quaffle, but was violently knocked away by the opposing chaser just as she was about to score.
"Collision foul!"
Wood roared from the sidelines.
Snape's lips twitched slightly: "Reasonable collision, play on."
Hufflepuff's supporters erupted in cheers.
Harry saw Professor McGonagall stand up angrily in the stands, but in the end she sat back down.
"Ignore the referee, focus on finding the thief!"
Wood yelled in Harry's ear, and was then given a free kick by Snape for "interfering with the game".
Ten minutes into the game, the score had become a wide gap of 60-10.
Hufflepuff's Seeker suddenly accelerated toward Harry's right.
"He's pretending to see a thief!"
George yelled, but the next second he was hit in the back by a ball that had been moving around – which Snape ignored.
Harry suddenly felt a sharp pain in his forehead scar. He instinctively lowered his broom, and a golden flash almost grazed past his ear—the Golden Snitch!
"Porter is making a dangerous dive!"
Snape suddenly announced loudly, "Hufflepuff, penalty!"
The entire audience erupted in uproar.
Harry looked toward the referee's table in disbelief.
But they didn't notice a small movement Snape made as his black robes fluttered—his left hand was quietly casting a stabilizing charm on Harry's broom handle.
Just as Hufflepuff's penalty taker was about to shoot, the ball suddenly went out of control and hurtled straight toward Harry's face.
At the critical moment, the ball mysteriously paused in mid-air for half a second—enough time for Harry to dodge to the side.
"The game is paused!"
Snape suddenly shouted, "Inspect the ball!"
Amidst the chaos, Harry caught a glimpse of Kane Malfoy sitting in the front row of the Slytherin stands, his silver pocket watch flashing towards the pitch.
Dumbledore seemed to be discussing something with Kane.
When the game resumed, Harry found his broom more nimble than usual.
He made a sharp turn to dodge another round of roaming ball attacks, and suddenly saw the Golden Snitch hovering next to the Hufflepuff goalpost!
The opposing seeker also spotted the target, and the two swooped down almost simultaneously.
Just as Harry was about to touch the Snitch, a bouncing ball whistled towards the back of his head—
"Bang!"
George appeared out of nowhere and used his bat to knock the stray ball away.
Harry's fingers were already tightly gripping the struggling Golden Snitch.
"Match over!"
Lady Hooch appeared in the center of the arena at some point. "Gryffindor wins! 150:60!"
The recorder excitedly announced, "Harry Potter has set a new record for the fastest catching of a thief in Hogwarts history—6 minutes and 32 seconds!"
Amidst the uproar, Snape descended from the referee's bench with a grim face.
As he passed Harry, he whispered almost without moving his lips, "You won't be so lucky next time, Potter."
