Hogwarts' Golden Glory
Chapter 100 Kane's Guidance
"I thought you'd at most send me a farting cushion," he finally said, his voice lower than usual.
The twins looked at each other, then suddenly pounced on him at the same time, giving him a double hug.
"Merry Christmas, partner." George's voice softened unusually.
Fred slipped a color-changing candy into Kane's pocket: "Try the new recipe—Nosebleed Nougat. Eating it will make you spray Gryffindor-colored fireworks."
After Fred and George released Kane, the smiles on their faces faded slightly.
Fred lowered his voice and said, "By the way, Harry hasn't been acting quite right lately."
George nodded, a rare look of worry on his face: "He was quite happy on Christmas Day, but he's been looking downcast these past few days, his eyes are so empty, it's like he got a hundred points deducted by Snape."
Kane's eyes flickered slightly—he certainly knew why Harry was acting this way.
The illusions of the Mirror of Erised can be addictive, and what Harry saw were his parents, whom he could never reach.
"Has the headmaster noticed Harry's behavior?"
Kane asked, "In the original story, it was Dumbledore who came to comfort this little wizard who was lost in his fantasies."
"The headmaster seems to be very busy lately," Fred shrugged. "We've seen him rushing down the hallway several times, muttering strange things like 'Don't touch my Lemon Olaf.'"
Kane raised an eyebrow; it seemed that Professor Alder's identity was indeed very suspicious.
He sighed, "Alright, I'll go take a look."
Of course, Kane was also curious about what he would see in the Mirror of Erised.
"He would sneak out every night and not return until dawn."
Fred said.
George leaned closer and added, "We followed him once and found that he always ran to the seventh floor—but each time he would suddenly disappear, just vanish right before our eyes!"
Kane raised an eyebrow: "So?"
"So," Fred said with a sly smile, "we'll take you to the Gryffindor Tower after curfew tonight. Harry trusts you completely; maybe you can find out something."
Kane had just walked out of the Slytherin common room late at night.
Two shadows appeared beside him.
"As punctual as a pocket watch."
Fred's voice suddenly came from behind the stone wall.
He and George had slipped in sometime earlier, dressed in extravagant night clothes—if you ignored the glowing star patterns.
Fred and George carried Kane up the spiral staircase, one on each side, like escorting a prisoner.
"Your hospitality in Gryffindor is truly exceptional."
Kane glanced at George's hand on his shoulder, who grinned. "Afraid you'll run away, Malfoy. Harry hasn't even spoken to us these past few days."
Mischievous Ghost was humming an off-key tune on the third floor.
George threw a farting poop at it, successfully distracting the troublemaker.
The Fat Lady was dozing off in front of the portrait in the Gryffindor common room.
"Password?"
She asked, still a little dazed.
Fred cleared his throat: "Phoenix Tears."
The fat lady opened the door to the Gryffindor common room without even looking at it, her eyes closed.
The fireplace in the common room was dying down, and Harry was curled up alone in an armchair, sparks dancing on his glasses.
All he wants now is to wait until no one is around, then sneak into that room and check on his family.
"Harry!"
Hearing footsteps, he looked up abruptly, a flicker of surprise crossing his green eyes, which then brightened with an unusual gleam: "Kane?"
Kane walked over naturally, his long golden hair shimmering warmly in the firelight: "It seems our savior still remembers me after Christmas."
Harry stood up instinctively, his fingers unconsciously smoothing out the wrinkled hem of his sweater.
"Thank you, Kane, thank you for the gift, I love it."
Harry still remembered the photograph Kane had given him; his mother looked so young and beautiful in it.
"Harry, Fred and the others said you haven't been feeling well these days?"
"I..." Harry hesitated for a moment, glancing around at his surroundings. "Shall we find somewhere else to talk?"
Kane nodded slightly.
Fred clutched his chest dramatically: "I've been rejected again, George."
"Heartbroken."
George cooperated by mimicking being shot with an arrow, but secretly winked at Harry.
"Remember to come back before curfew. Ron said your bedside table is piled high with Chocolate Frogs."
After leaving the common room, Harry led the way.
Kane successfully managed to get his hands on the invisibility cloak.
The two walked through a maze of corridors and arrived at a hidden stone door—a secret room that Kane had never seen before.
In the dimly lit room, the Mirror of Eris stood silently, the runes on its frame gleaming faintly in the moonlight.
Harry walked up to the mirror, his voice hoarse: "I come here every night... They're right there in the mirror, so close to me..."
In the mirror, James and Lily Potter are smiling and waving at Harry, Lily's lips parting slightly as if to say, "We love you."
Kane watched this scene in silence until Harry suddenly asked, "Kane, I saw my parents. What did you see?"
While Kane and Harry were talking in the room.
No one noticed that on the spiral staircase to the principal's office, Albus Dumbledore was being pestered by a professor.
"Albus, how about a game of Wizards Chess?"
Gellert Grindelwald placed a hand on the old man's shoulder, his eyes fixed on him. "I promise I won't use Fiendfyre this time to burn your king."
Dumbledore pinched his brow, his quill drawing long lines of ink on the "Hogwarts Staff Assessment": "Gellert, it's eleven o'clock at night."
"Perfect timing!" Grindelwald exclaimed excitedly, picking up a chess piece. "You used to study dark magic with me at this spot when you were young—"
"That's exactly the problem."
Dumbledore sighed, and suddenly the light screen beside him caught his attention.
Through the light screen, he saw Harry Potter staring blankly at the Mirror of Erised, with Kane Malfoy standing right beside him.
"Merlin's beard..."
The old headmaster suddenly stood up, knocking over the Honey Duke candy box, and sizzling honey candies rolled all over the floor.
Grindelwald leaned closer, watching the spectacle unfold. "Oh? Your savior's in a daze? Want me to teach him a couple of Cruciatus Curses to relieve his stress?"
"You dare touch Harry?" Dumbledore suddenly turned around, his half-moon spectacles flashing coldly, "I'll make Fawkes poop on your favorite Chocolate Frog picture."
The other person exaggeratedly clutched their chest and backed away: "Threatening me for a bespectacled kid? Back in Godric's Hollow—"
"I was eighteen back then, and now I have an entire school of students to manage."
Dumbledore waved his wand, canceling the light screen. "Go play by yourself. I have important business to attend to."
Grindelwald suddenly grabbed him: "Wait a minute, I feel like what you can do, he can do too."
He pointed at Kane, who was walking towards the Mirror of Eris, and asked, "What do you think Kane will see?"
Dumbledore's eyes lit up: "Ah! Kane Malfoy!"
He slapped the other man on the shoulder. "Gellert, you're right, he's definitely good at talking to Harry. People his age should have more to talk about!"
"This is what I meant—"
"Thank you so much for your suggestion." Dumbledore had already appeared at the doorway, turned back and winked. "In return, you can use the Mirror of Erised now."
