The next day, Shi Ying arrived very early. As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she heard a furious voice coming from the president's office.

"Uncle, are you kidding me? You're transferring me to Africa?"

The office door was open, and it wasn't yet time for work. It was quiet outside, so the furious voice was all the more clear.

Shang Chenyan leaned back in his chair, looking at the documents in his hand, without even looking up: "You have a problem with that?"

Shang Yu's eyes widened: "Don't I have any objections?"

What was he talking about for so long? Was he going crazy?

"Uncle." Seeing that his forceful approach wasn't working, Shang Yu tried a softer one, slamming his hands on the table. "What did I do wrong that you want to kick me out?"

"I've been behaving myself lately, doing my job diligently. I even went to that godforsaken place to do marketing, so what did I do to offend you?"

Shang Chenyan then looked up at him.

Shang Yu is a senior at Jiangcheng University. In his early twenties, he is youthful and energetic, which is indeed the type of girl that girls like.

"You're in my way."

Shang Yu angrily ruffled his short hair into a mess and snorted, "I'm not going! I haven't graduated yet, I still have to go back to school."

"I'm going back to tell Grandpa, if you dare, put me on that plane!"

He turned around in anger and slammed the door shut. He took quick and large steps, and bumped into someone while passing the tea room.

Shi Ying prepared to return to her workstation after getting water, but unexpectedly bumped into someone passing by as she came out of the tea room.

Warm water was immediately splashed onto the two of them.

Shi Ying instinctively tried to dodge, but due to her unstable center of gravity, she fell straight backward.

"careful."

Shang Yu reached out and wrapped his long arm around her waist.

Still shaken, Shi Ying grabbed the man's collar and their eyes met unexpectedly.

Shang Yusheng had a pair of captivating eyes, and a few soft, short hairs fell across his forehead. With a slight effort, he helped Shi Ying up.

"Th...thank you..." Shi Ying swallowed, her heart beating a little fast because of the accident.

Shang Yu raised an eyebrow: "Are you new here?"

Shi Ying nodded.

She glanced at the person in front of her, thinking about the voice that had just come from the office, and then looked at his face more closely.

So he was Shang Yu? And her million?

Thinking of this, Shi Ying's eyes lit up.

She flashed a perfect smile: "Excuse me, I bumped into you. Your clothes are wet. Shall I help you dry them?"

As she spoke, she reached for a few tissues on the table, but before she could even touch them, a loud "bang" startled her so much that she dropped the tissues on the floor.

The two of them looked in the direction from which the sound came.

Shang Chenyan emerged from his office at some point. He stood in the corridor, tall and imposing, his expression obscured by the light streaming through the window.

"Did I disturb you?"

Shi Ying quickly withdrew her hand.

If the boss sees her slacking off at work, will she be fired?

But it's not time to start work yet, there are still ten minutes left.

Shi Ying racked her brains trying to come up with a way to argue her point.

Shang Yu, oblivious to the man's displeasure, casually wiped himself with two sheets of paper, saying, "Uncle..."

"roll."

Before he could finish speaking, Shang Chenyan's cold gaze swept over him.

Shang Yu immediately fell silent.

He was fearless from a young age, except for his uncle.

Especially since five years ago, Shang Chenyan has become incredibly...crazy!

"I'm leaving right now!" Shang Yu hurriedly slipped away.

"Mr. Shang, I..."

Shi Ying had already prepared her rebuttal in her mind and was about to start making excuses when she saw Shang Chenyan turn around and enter the office again: "Come in."

Shi Ying shuffled into the office with small, quick steps.

Her expression, as if she were facing certain death, filled Shang Chenyan with mixed feelings.

"President Shang, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have abandoned my post during work hours. I know I was wrong." Shi Ying gritted her teeth and said loudly with her eyes closed.

Shang Chenyan stared at her expressionlessly, but the girl's wet, doe-like eyes caused a dull ache in his left chest.

How could he bear to blame her?

It's all Shang Yu's fault.

"Hmm." After a while, instead of hearing any reproach, Shi Ying heard a deep, hoarse voice say, "Go and bring your computer in. Work here."

He tapped the black desk.

"Here?" Shi Ying asked in surprise.

Working alongside your boss—what kind of new-age torture is this?!

It would be better to scold her.

Shi Ying walked in listlessly, carrying her small computer. Shang Chenyan pointed to a seat next to her, and she sat down with a pout.

All morning, Shi Ying felt like she was sitting on pins and needles, staring intently at the computer screen, even replying to messages with extreme caution.

The girl's obedient figure was reflected in the glass. Shang Chenyan felt the air around him mixed with her scent, and with each breath, his soul seemed to tremble.

Shi Ying couldn't sit still any longer. She picked up her cup, took a sip, and then stood up. "President Shang, are you thirsty? Shall I make you a cup of coffee?"

Shang Chenyan stared intently at the computer screen and gave a cool, indifferent "hmm."

Shi Ying quickly picked up his cup and ran out with cheerful steps.

The air outside the office is so fresh!

She wanted to linger in the break room a little longer.

After Shi Ying left, Shang Chenyan looked up and his gaze fell on the place where she had just been.

He gently stroked the chair she had been sitting on with his fingertips, picked up her coat hanging on the back of the chair, and smelled it with fascination.

His Adam's apple bobbed rapidly up and down, and his heart pounded wildly in his chest.

She is really back!

Shang Chenyan's hands were trembling. He picked up the cup that Shi Ying had drunk from, and kissed the rim of the cup with his thin lips, obsessively.

With a "snap," Shang Chenyan was pulled from his immersive emotions.

He glanced to the side and saw Shi Ying standing blankly by the door, staring at him, with a brown coffee stain at her feet.

"Mr....Mr. Shang..." Shi Ying couldn't believe what she was seeing. He was drinking water from his own cup?

Shang Chenyan remained calm, raising an eyebrow at the cup in his hand: "Is this yours?"

"Sorry." Shang Chenyan casually put down his water glass. "I put it on my desk and forgot it was yours."

Shi Ying seemed to be thinking about something, and even her earlobes turned bright red.

She hurried over and quickly grabbed her cup.

Seeing the girl's bewildered expression, Shang Chenyan said in a hoarse voice, "I'll make you one."

"No...no need." Shi Ying lowered her head. "I'll just go wash up."

Shang Chenyan hummed in response, showing no embarrassment whatsoever, making Shi Ying feel as if she was making a mountain out of a molehill.

"I have to go to a meeting, you stay here and work."

"Mr. Shang, can I go outside..."

Shang Chenyan interrupted her: "Jiang Wen is away these two days, so you will be in charge of his work. Stay by my side and don't leave me for a moment."

Shi Ying clicked his tongue in amazement. Did Secretary Jiang usually have to follow him around every step of the way?

No wonder people at the company say they're a couple.

An hour later.

When Shang Chenyan returned from the meeting, he opened the door and saw only his computer on the black desk.

The office was empty, just like every day for the past five years, when he had been sitting there all alone.

Shang Chenyan's face turned deathly pale in an instant.

He suddenly turned around and was about to run outside.

However, they almost bumped into someone who came in.

Shi Ying reacted quickly and grabbed the door frame, thus avoiding being knocked down twice in one day.

"Mr. Shang, is there something urgent?"

Shang Chenyan stared blankly at her, his eyes bloodshot.

His lips trembled, and it took him a long time to find his voice:

"where have you been?"

Shi Ying found his expression strange, but she didn't think much of it and raised her hand to show him the computer she was holding: "Director Cheng said he would help me install the files, so I went out for a bit."

Shang Chenyan remained silent.

He stood there, listening to his own rapid, erratic heartbeat, unable to stop for a long time.
