Twenty minutes later, Li Kaixin and his family of three appeared at the entrance of No. 93 Courtyard, one after the other, riding their bicycles.

Just as the three of them stopped, Ye Xiong, the manager who was returning home from get off work, happened to see this scene.

"Hey, Mingde, what's that your wife doing sitting in the back of the car today?"

"Hey! This is the first time he's picked his mother up from get off work, so I thought I'd let him do his best," the father, Li Mingde, replied with a smile.

"Is that really so?" Ye Xiong raised an eyebrow with a smile, his gaze shifting between the couple. "Brother Mingde, did you upset your wife?"

"How could that be!" The father, Li Mingde, was provoked by these words and raised his head. "I'm the one who has the final say at home! How dare she give me attitude!"

Upon hearing this, Li Kaixin's lips twitched, and she silently prayed for her father.

Qin Xiuli, the mother in the back seat, got out of the car and stood silently listening without saying a word.

After chatting with Ye Xiong for a few more minutes, Ye Xiong went into the courtyard first.

After everyone had walked away, Qin Xiuli, the mother, spoke with a half-smile: "Well done, Li Mingde. You were quite arrogant just now, weren't you?"

Father Li Mingde stiffened, then immediately put on a fawning smile: "Wife, I was just trying to save face in front of outsiders."

"Trying to save face, huh?" Mother Qin Xiuli's expression suddenly changed. "Fine, then you can sleep alone tonight and keep up your act."

"No!" Father Li Mingde rushed to his wife's side. "Wife, I was wrong. Please forgive me this time."

Li Kaixin watched from the side and couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"What are you laughing at? What's so funny?" Father Li Mingde glared at his eldest son. "Isn't this all because of you?"

Li Kaixin looked completely innocent and said, "Dad, why are you blaming me again? I didn't say a word."

In contrast, Qin Xiuli, the mother, completely ignored her husband and walked into the yard on her own.

"Wait for me, honey!" Li Mingde quickly pushed the cart and chased after her.

The three returned home, and their mother, Qin Xiuli, went straight to the kitchen to cook.

Just as Li Kaixin was about to go over to help, his father, Li Mingde, stopped him.

"Go away, go away, we don't need you here." He waved his hand, as if shooing away a fly.

Li Kaixin knew that her father was trying to curry favor with her mother, so she tactfully retreated to the main room.

Time passed by, and then younger brother Li Kai and younger sister Li Xiaoxiao returned with their schoolbags on their backs.

Li Kai, the younger brother, put down his schoolbag and looked around. "Hey! Big brother, where's Dad?"

Usually, when my father came home, he would sit in his recliner and read the newspaper, but this time there was no one in sight.

"They're starting a fire in the kitchen," Li Kaixin gestured towards the kitchen.

Li Kai perked up and winked at Li Kaixin: "Big brother, did Dad make Mom angry again?"

"What, you seem pretty gloating? Be careful, Dad will beat you up if he finds out."

"Big brother, I didn't!" Li Kai denied it outright, but he had already slipped to the side of the kitchen and was peering inside.

Li Kaixin shook his head helplessly, knowing that another heartwarming scene of filial piety and parental love would surely unfold.

In the kitchen, the father, Li Mingde, was squatting in front of the stove, tending the fire, a smile plastered on his face: "Wife, is the fire alright? Should we add some more firewood?"

"You're the head of the household, why are you asking me what I'm doing?" Mother Qin Xiuli said without looking up, stirring the food in the pot with a spatula.

"I'm just humbly asking for your advice," Father Li Mingde persisted, continuing to flatter.

"Honey, you've had a long day. How about I give you a shoulder massage to relax while you soak your feet tonight?"

"No need, I can't accept that."

Li Kai, who was peering through the kitchen side door, couldn't hold back any longer and burst out laughing.

When the father, Li Mingde, heard the noise, he turned around and saw his second son's gloating face.

"Hey kid, what are you looking at? Go do your homework!"

"Dad, I finished my homework at school!" Li Kai didn't budge an inch, and even added with a grin, "I haven't had enough yet, please continue!"

The father, Li Mingde, turned pale and then flushed, and he stood up and rushed towards his second son.

Li Kai reacted quickly, turning and running: "Big brother, help! Dad's killing me!"

Mother Qin Xiuli then looked up, smiled, and shook her head.

"You little brat, you dare to laugh at your old man? Don't hide from me!" Father Li Mingde chased after him out of the kitchen.

Li Kai had already hidden behind his older brother.

He poked half his head out, looking wise: "Dad, are you stupid? If I didn't dodge, wouldn't you have hit me directly?"

"Fine, fine! You just wait, I'll deal with you tonight." Father Li Mingde pointed at his second son, panting with anger.

Li Kai wasn't afraid at all this time, and made a face at his father: "Dad, you should appease Mom first."

Li Mingde stumbled and nearly fell, then returned to the kitchen with a dark expression.

"Xiao Kai, can't you stop making Dad angry?" Li Kaixin sighed and patted his younger brother's head.

"Brother, you've wronged me."

Li Kai looked aggrieved and explained:

"I'm just helping Dad divert Mom's attention. Think about it, every time I got beaten up, Dad and Mom made up afterwards, didn't they?"

"So you've gained experience from getting beaten up?" Li Kaixin was both amused and exasperated by her younger brother's absurd reasoning.

"Of course!"

Li Kai puffed out his chest smugly, then shrank back:

"But brother, if Dad really starts fighting later, you can't just stand by and watch him die."

"Big brother, don't mind him. He's just making Dad angry all the time." Li Xiaoxiao, who was sitting at the table reading a book, couldn't stand it anymore.

Upon hearing this, Li Kai immediately became displeased: "Xiaoxiao, I was just helping Dad, okay? Are you really that jealous of me?"

"Come on, you're clearly just looking for trouble." Li Xiaoxiao pouted and turned another page of her book.

Seeing her younger siblings bickering again, Li Kaixin helplessly tried to smooth things over: "Alright, alright, stop talking so much!"

Li Xiaoxiao and Li Kai both snorted at the same time before stopping.

Just as Li Kai had predicted, his parents reconciled at dinner time.

The two sat side by side in the main seats, exchanging glances from time to time, both with smiles on their faces.

Father Li Mingde put a piece of food on his wife's plate, and Mother Qin Xiuli did not refuse, returning the favor by putting a piece of egg on her plate.

Watching all this, Li Kai quietly leaned close to his older brother's ear and said, "Big brother, have Mom and Dad made up? Was my method effective?"

"My foot!" Li Kaixin replied in a low voice. "You're just lucky. Dad's busy coaxing Mom right now, he doesn't have time to deal with you."

Li Kai ignored his older brother's words and puffed out his chest: "That's also thanks to me."

"Alright, that's enough." Li Kaixin picked up a piece of egg and put it into her younger brother's bowl.

Li Kai chuckled, said nothing more, and buried his head in his food.
