The invigilation in the afternoon started promptly at 1:30 p.m. and did not end until 4 p.m.

Half an hour passed after Li Kaixin, Master Wu, and Master Cai finished issuing driver's licenses to the apprentices who had passed.

"Master Wu, thank you both for your hard work today."

Li Kaixin said politely, "You guys go ahead, I'll just hand the list to Master Niu myself."

"Thank you for your help, Mr. Li."

Without any hesitation, Mr. Wu and Mr. Cai packed up their things and left the examination room.

Li Kaixin took the list and materials and headed towards the lounge.

The steel mill workers hadn't finished their shifts yet, and most of the apprentices who came for the assessment had left, leaving the entire factory area deserted.

Li Kaixin walked to the door of the lounge and pushed it open to go inside.

Master Niu was sitting at the table organizing another set of materials when he saw him come in and asked with a smile:

"Kaixin, how many people from your group passed today?"

"That's a bit few, only five!" Li Kaixin sighed and handed over the list.

Master Niu took it and flipped through the records.

"That's definitely low. I got seven, and Lao Bai's group got eleven. Your group has the fewest."

"Master Niu, there's nothing I can do about it. Everyone who comes up for the assessment is just too nervous."

"That's true. There were a lot of people in your group who were assigned to the first assessment this time, so it's normal that fewer passed."

Master Niu put the list away and patted him on the shoulder: "But don't worry about it having any impact on you. We're not proctoring exams to see who passes the most."

Li Kaixin nodded, chatted with Master Niu for a few more minutes, and then left the lounge.

Just as I arrived at the bicycle parking area, the announcement for the end of the workday came on.

Before long, a large group of workers leaving get off work poured out of the steel rolling mill gate.

Li Kaixin parked her car on the side of the road and secretly rejoiced at what she saw. Luckily, she had acted quickly enough, otherwise she would have been stuck inside again.

He still vividly remembers the feeling of being squeezed when he and Captain Wang rode their bikes into the factory that morning.

About five minutes later, the father, Li Mingde, finally managed to squeeze out by pushing his bicycle.

"Dad, I'm here!" Li Kaixin waved to her father.

Hearing the shouts, Li Mingde pushed his cart over and said, "Come on, Kaixin, let's go pick up your mother."

"Alright!" Li Kaixin didn't delay and got on his bicycle.

The father and son rode along the street toward the textile factory.

The textile factory was right next to the steel rolling mill, only about two or three hundred meters apart.

When Li Kaixin and his father Li Mingde arrived, his mother Qin Xiuli and four female workers of similar age came out from the gate.

"Xiuli, your husband is here to pick you up again!" One of the tall, thin women gestured towards Li Mingde.

"That's not all!"

A round-faced middle-aged woman nearby chimed in, "Chunlan, didn't you see there's a young man over there?"

"Oh dear, Xiao Yan, I hadn't even noticed until you told me!"

Wu Chunlan looked closely and asked with a smile, "Xiuli, who is that young man? He looks very handsome."

"Sister Wu, that's my eldest son, Li Kaixin."

Wu Chunlan was visibly taken aback and asked in confusion, "Doesn't your eldest son work at the transportation station? It's so far away from here, why did he come all the way here?"

Chen Xiaoyan and the other two middle-aged women also looked over, their eyes filled with curiosity.

"He was an examiner at the steel rolling mill today, and my wife must have called him to come along."

Qin Xiuli explained with a smile, a hint of smugness on her face.

"Evaluator? What kind of evaluator?"

Wu Chunlan was even more puzzled. "Xiuli, isn't your son a driver at the transport station?"

"Sister Wu, she's the examiner who tests drivers!"

Because Qin Xiuli rarely mentioned her family at the textile factory, these coworkers were not very clear about her eldest son's situation.

"Your Kaixin family is so amazing!"

Chen Xiaoyan was somewhat surprised, "I heard that only experienced masters are qualified to be examiners. How old is your Kaixin?"

Wu Chunlan, standing to the side, rolled her eyes and tentatively asked, "The salary must be quite high, right?"

The other two middle-aged women also chimed in, wanting to know how much Li Kaixin earned in a month.

Qin Xiuli was a little embarrassed by the question and subconsciously replied, "It's not much, just over a hundred yuan a month."

"My God, over a hundred yuan!" Wu Chunlan gasped. "Xiuli, your son's monthly salary is equivalent to mine in three or four months!"

"That's right!" Chen Xiaoyan chimed in. "My husband has been working at the steel rolling mill for almost ten years, and he only makes a little over sixty yuan a month."

The other two middle-aged women also started chattering amongst themselves, their eyes full of envy.

Qin Xiuli blushed slightly at the praise and quickly replied:

"Don't say that. My eldest son works very hard driving. Sometimes he's gone for ten days or half a month at a time."

"By the way, Xiuli, does your Kaixin have a boyfriend yet?" Chen Xiaoyan suddenly asked.

Upon hearing this, the middle-aged women perked up and all looked at Qin Xiuli.

"Not yet!"

Qin Xiuli shook her head helplessly, "This child is busy with work all day long, how can she have time to think about these things?"

"What a coincidence!" Chen Xiaoyan's eyes lit up. "I have a niece on my family's side who is very pretty."

"Xiuli, my niece is still working at the supply and marketing cooperative. Would you like to consider it?"

"Me too, me too..."

"Stop, stop!" Qin Xiuli interrupted them with a smile. "I can't make that decision; it's up to the child to decide."

"Why don't you let your happy family meet our niece first? What if they hit it off?" Chen Xiaoyan was still unwilling to give up.

The thought of earning just over a hundred yuan a month makes her wish she had a daughter.

Li Kaixin, standing not far away, heard everything clearly, and the corner of his mouth twitched involuntarily.

After an unknown amount of time, Qin Xiuli finally finished dealing with the barrage of questions from several coworkers and jogged towards Li Kaixin.

"Xiuli, tell Kaixin that my niece is really great!" Chen Xiaoyan couldn't help but exclaim again.

This time, Qin Xiuli didn't even turn her head; she simply waved her hand behind her.

Father Li Mingde couldn't help but laugh as he watched his daughter-in-law jog over.

"Honey, haven't you been urging Kaixin to find a boyfriend? Why is it not working out now?"

"What do you know!"

Qin Xiuli, the mother, glanced at her husband and said, "What is Kaixin's status now? If you're going to find someone, she should at least be a college graduate."

"Honey, it's so wonderful that you're only just turned 18. College students are already over 20."

"Why are you so stubborn? I was just giving an example; it's not like I'm actually telling our son to find a college student."

The mother, Qin Xiuli, didn't want to talk to him anymore and plopped down on the back of her son's bicycle.

"Come on, Kaixin, let's go home."

Father Li Mingde was dumbfounded, and quickly pushed the cart over, saying, "Wife, why don't you sit here with me!"

The mother, Qin Xiuli, turned her head away and put her arm around her eldest son's waist.

Li Kaixin gave his father a helpless look, then leaped away.
