After the group was dismissed, the soldiers wanted to try and get closer to Li Kaixin.

It was clear that he had been staying by the side of Regiment Commander Zhao and Battalion Commander Sun, so they all gave up their ideas and went their separate ways.

Only Commander Zhao, Battalion Commander Sun, Li Kaixin, Chen Yongtai and a few other soldiers remained at the scene, along with the soldiers who had been specifically called away by Battalion Commander Sun.

Seeing that he had already spent enough time there, Battalion Commander Zhao spoke first: "Battalion Commander Sun, I'll be leaving now and will come back tonight."

After saying that, he smiled happily at Li Kaixin and then led the two soldiers down the mountain.

Even after he had walked away, Li Kaixin still had a look of confusion on her face.

Battalion Commander Sun, who was standing nearby, saw this and explained with a smile:

"Comrade Kaixin, the regimental commander went to two other battalions nearby. Didn't you notice we only have one battalion left?"

Li Kaixin suddenly realized why there were so few people in the group.

Seeing that no one else was going to say anything more, Battalion Commander Sun turned around and looked at the few soldiers who had been deliberately left behind.

"Brothers, we need to go up the mountain again this afternoon. Tonight we're officially welcoming Comrade Li Kaixin, so the food can't be shabby."

"Don't worry, Battalion Commander! With our hunting skills, we're sure to bring back a few decent kills!" one of the soldiers, who looked mature, said, patting his chest.

The others were not to be outdone and echoed the sentiment, their tone full of confidence.

At that moment, Chen Yongtai immediately came over: "Battalion Commander, since we're free this afternoon, why don't you take me with you!"

"Battalion Commander, we want to go too!" Chen Yong'an and Jiang Dahe and the others chimed in, looking eager to try.

Battalion Commander Sun glared at them irritably: "Why aren't you staying in the camp with Comrade Kaixin? What are you doing following him around like that?"

"Commander, you didn't know that Kaixin also hunts."

Chen Yongtai chuckled, then turned to Li Kaixin and invited, "Kaixin, let's go together. I've been wanting to see what you're capable of in this area."

"Comrade Kaixin, you can hunt too?" Battalion Commander Sun looked at Li Kaixin with some surprise.

"I learned marksmanship from my elders in the family before, and that's how I learned it."

Li Kaixin chuckled lightly, his tone casual, "Battalion Commander Sun, if you don't mind, I'd like to join in the fun?"

"Great! Why not?" Battalion Commander Sun immediately made the decision. "Let's go, everyone get ready."

Fifteen minutes later, the group arrived at the foot of the mountain, where the cars were parked.

Battalion Commander Sun walked to the vehicle, opened the driver's side door, and turned to call out to Li Kaixin, "Comrade Kaixin, you sit in the passenger seat!"

Li Kaixin responded, took a few steps over, opened the car door, and sat in the passenger seat.

Chen Yongtai and the other soldiers climbed onto the back of the truck.

Soon the car started and slowly drove away from the campsite along the winding mountain road, heading further away from Beijing.

On the bus, Li Kaixin looked out at the mountains and casually asked:

"Battalion Commander, the mountains around here seem quite dense, why don't we fight here?"

"Kaixin, you don't know this, but we've hunted almost all the prey in the mountains around here."

Battalion Commander Sun drove the car, a little embarrassed on his face. "Now there are only some pheasants and rabbits left, it's not worth putting in so much effort."

"Yes, I'm happy!"

Chen Yongtai, sitting in the truck bed, chimed in, "You wouldn't believe it, but once our entire regiment went out and conducted a thorough search of this area."

"The battalion commander is being conservative; you probably can't even find pheasants or rabbits these days."

Upon hearing this, Li Kaixin's lips twitched slightly, and he thought to himself: This isn't hunting, it's practically scavenging!

The car drove along the mountain road for about half an hour and then stopped in front of a mountain hollow.

Everyone got off the bus and began checking their weapons.

After checking his gun, Battalion Commander Sun looked up and surveyed his surroundings.

He pointed to the woods ahead:

"This morning we found a large patch of wild boar droppings in this direction. It's getting late, let's try our luck and head in this direction!"

Upon hearing this, Li Kaixin immediately understood the situation.

He wondered why those soldiers had been so confident; now he knew the reason.

I was thinking that with so little time, if I really couldn't catch one, I could just get one from the secret realm to make up the numbers. But now it seems that I might not even need it.

Chen Yongtai and the other soldiers had no objections to this.

Subsequently, Battalion Commander Sun divided the team into five squads.

Li Kaixin and Chen Yongtai were placed in the very center, while everyone else was scattered on both sides.

Before setting off, Battalion Commander Sun gave him another instruction:

"Everyone be careful, wild boars are tough to deal with. If you hear heavy gunfire from one side, go and provide support immediately."

Everyone nodded, then dispersed into their respective groups and headed deeper into the dense forest.

Soon after entering the dense forest, the light gradually dimmed.

Li Kaixin slowed her pace, her eyes constantly scanning her surroundings.

Chen Yong'an was now focused and dared not relax for a moment, completely unlike his carefree self in the morning.

Suddenly, a gunshot rang out from their left.

Chen Yongtai and his brother, along with Li Kaixin, immediately stopped and turned to look in that direction.

However, after waiting for a while, no second sound was heard.

Li Kaixin relaxed and lowered his voice, saying, "Let's keep going! What they encountered probably wasn't a wild boar."

"Kaixin, how did you know?" Chen Yong'an asked in a low voice.

"If it were a wild boar, one shot wouldn't usually be enough to kill it; you'd definitely need to finish it off. The fact that we haven't heard anything for so long means it's probably encountered a pheasant or rabbit."

After explaining, Li Kaixin lifted her foot and continued walking forward.

The three searched for a while longer, but they didn't encounter any wild boars, let alone pheasants or rabbits.

Just as Li Kaixin was about to use his experience to search in another direction, gunshots suddenly rang out from his left.

But before they could even stop, a second and a third sound followed, one after another.

Li Kaixin and Chen Yongtai exchanged a glance and immediately ran in that direction.

On the other side of the gunshot, there was a huge pool of water, where dozens of wild boars were staring ahead with blood-red eyes.

Jiang Dahe and Wang Feng, along with a few others, were shooting as they retreated.

"Damn it, my luck is terrible. I didn't expect there to be another one hiding behind that tree."

Despite bleeding from his arms and legs, Jiang Dahe kept pulling the trigger.

He was momentarily careless and a wild boar got close to him.

Wang Feng and two other soldiers provided cover for him. Wang Feng asked with concern, "Dahe, are you alright?"

"It's alright, let's go to that high point behind and hold it until Battalion Commander Sun and the others arrive," Jiang Dahe said through gritted teeth.

When Li Kaixin and Chen Yongtai arrived at the pool, more than a dozen wild boars with red eyes were charging towards Jiang Dahe and his group.

"Dahe!" Chen Yongtai shouted, raising his gun and firing.

Without hesitation, Li Kaixin raised his gun and aimed at the wild boar that was charging towards Jiang Dahe and the others.
