Time Travel: My Comfortable Life After Going to the Countryside
Chapter 240 The New Teacher
It was 5:30 a.m. on Monday morning, just as dawn was breaking.
Liu Xiangyang opened his eyes. Zhao Xiaoman was still curled up in his arms, fast asleep. Her hair was spread out on the pillow, her face was turned to the side, her eyelashes were long, and the corners of her mouth were slightly upturned. He wondered what she was dreaming about.
He didn't move, he just watched for a while.
Then gently pull your arm out.
Zhao Xiaoman stirred, mumbled something, turned over, and fell asleep again.
Liu Xiangyang put on his clothes, walked to the window, and glanced outside. The sky was just beginning to lighten, and there weren't many people on the street yet.
He turned around, sat down on the edge of the bed, and reached out to brush the messy hair off Zhao Xiaoman's face.
"Xiaoman".
Zhao Xiaoman opened her eyes groggily.
"Hmm... what time is it?"
"It's almost six o'clock, time to get up."
Zhao Xiaoman was stunned for a moment, then came to her senses and sat up abruptly. The blanket slipped down, revealing her ample upper body: "It's almost six o'clock? Hurry, hurry, we should go back! Otherwise we'll be late."
She hurriedly put on her clothes, not even having time to tie her hair up, leaving it loose.
Seeing her flustered state, not even noticing the blanket slipping down, Liu Xiangyang laughed and said, "There's still time. It's only a ten-minute drive from here to the hospital, no rush." After saying that, he helped her pull the blanket up and took the opportunity to hold her hand.
Zhao Xiaoman glared at him and slapped his hand: "Stop fooling around, I'm getting up."
Liu Xiangyang ignored her slapping his hands, pulled her into his arms, and leaned in towards her.
……
After tidying up, the two quietly left the guesthouse.
It was just dawn, and the streets were mostly deserted, with only a few sanitation workers busy at work. Liu Xiangyang rode his bicycle, with Zhao Xiaoman sitting on the back, her arms wrapped around his waist and her face pressed against his back.
The morning breeze was cool and refreshing, and it felt wonderful on my face.
When I arrived at the hospital entrance, the sun had just risen, and its golden light shone on the glass of the outpatient building.
Liu Xiangyang parked the car, and the two went to the cafeteria.
There weren't many people in the cafeteria, just a few early risers sitting here. Liu Xiangyang got a few steamed buns and two bowls of porridge, and Zhao Xiaoman sat opposite him, eating with her head down, replenishing the energy she had used up the night before.
After breakfast, the two walked towards the classroom. The corridor was quiet and deserted. Sunlight streamed in through the windows, casting a bright yellow glow on the floor.
Pushing open the classroom door, it was empty inside, with more than twenty desks neatly arranged. Sunlight slanted in through the windows, falling on the row of seats by the window.
Zhao Xiaoman walked to her usual spot, sat down, and opened her notebook.
Liu Xiangyang sat down next to her.
There were only the two of them in the classroom. It was so quiet that they could hear the birds chirping outside the window. The sunlight fell on them, making them feel warm.
Then everyone gradually came in, and the classroom became lively.
When Wang Dazhu walked in, his eyes lit up when he saw Liu Xiangyang. He raised his hand, ready to shout, but Liu Xiangyang glared at him and made him lower his hand and walk over quickly, his gaze sweeping back and forth between the two of them.
Zhao Xiaoman blushed under his gaze and lowered her head, not daring to look at him.
"What are you looking at if you don't sit down? If you keep looking, I'll gouge your eyes out." Liu Xiangyang pulled him down to sit and waved his hand.
Wang Dazhu shrank back and said in a low voice, "I was just worried about you. I saw you didn't come back last night, so I was just asking. Why are you being so fierce?"
"Don't worry about it." Liu Xiangyang raised his chin. "Teacher Sun is here, so you should focus on the lesson."
Sun Famiao placed his teacup on the podium and glanced around.
"I need to tell you something."
The room fell silent.
Sun Famiao took a sip of water and smacked his lips.
"Your new teacher has been decided. He'll be teaching this afternoon. You all need to listen carefully, understand?"
Everyone replied, "Okay."
Someone whispered, "I wonder if the new teacher is a man or a woman?"
Sun Famiao glanced at the man and said, "It's none of your business. You should mind your own business and focus on your studies."
A murmur of discussion arose from below.
Sun Famiao waved his hand: "Alright, let's start class."
In the afternoon, the classroom was filled with people early, all of whom arrived earlier than usual.
Wang Dazhu sat next to Liu Xiangyang, his head constantly peering towards the door.
"Why aren't they here yet...?"
Zhao Xiaoman glanced at him: "What's your hurry?"
Wang Dazhu chuckled: "I just wanted to see if the new teacher was male or female, and what she looked like."
"What, you're going to date any woman you meet?"
At that moment, the door was pushed open.
A woman walked in, and the classroom fell silent.
She was wearing a white lab coat, the buttons were fastened neatly, and a section of light blue round collar was visible at the neckline.
The white coat was the kind issued by the hospital, nothing special, but it looked different on her—it was fitted where it should be fitted, and had curves in the right places, with a subtle curve visible around her waist.
A small section of the skirt peeked out from below; it was also light blue, and the fabric looked softer than regular polyester, swaying gently as she walked.
Her hair was tied up in a bun at the back of her head, revealing a section of her fair neck. She had a faint smile on her face and looked to be in her early twenties.
Wang Dazhu's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Wow...this teacher is so beautiful!"
The woman walked to the podium, put down her lecture notes, and glanced around.
Her voice was soft but gentle, like a spring breeze: "Hello students, my surname is Shen, Shen Jing. Starting today, I will be teaching you Western medicine."
Everyone below was looking at her, and no one said a word.
Shen Jing smiled.
"I know you might be thinking, how come this teacher is so young?"
She paused, a slight smile playing on her lips.
"I'm thirty-five this year, and my child isn't much younger than some of yours."
A buzz of excitement erupted from below: "Thirty-five? Are you kidding me?"
"Looks like he's in his early twenties..."
"Your child is already seventeen?"
Wang Dazhu's mouth was wide open, and he couldn't close it for a long time.
Liu Xiangyang also looked at the woman on the podium, a strange look flashing in his eyes.
"Is it pretty?" Zhao Xiaoman pouted and asked him.
"You're pretty, but not as pretty as you," he whispered as he leaned closer to her, then blew into her ear.
"Hmph, you're smart to know what's good for you."
The murmurs subsided, and Shen Jing picked up the chalk and wrote two words on the blackboard: Shen Jing.
The handwriting is beautiful.
"Just call me Teacher Shen. Let's begin the lesson now."
Everyone listened attentively during the lesson.
It wasn't because she was good-looking—although she is indeed good-looking—but because she explained things in detail.
For each point of knowledge, she would first explain it, then give examples, and then ask everyone if they understood. If someone didn't understand, she would explain it again. She was neither impatient nor in a hurry.
Her voice is also pleasant, neither too high nor too low, gentle and soothing to listen to.
Wang Dazhu filled three pages with notes after just one class.
After class, he leaned close to Liu Xiangyang and whispered:
"Xiangyang, don't you think Teacher Shen...?"
Liu Xiangyang glanced at him.
"What do you think?"
Wang Dazhu scratched his head.
"So...she's really thirty-five?"
"Teacher Shen herself said it, and you still don't believe her?"
Zhao Xiaoman was tidying up her lecture notes, her ears perked up.
Wang Dazhu continued:
"It's not that I don't believe it, it's just that you've seen it yourself, it doesn't look like it at all..."
