"Let's get down to business." Chen Jie adjusted to a more comfortable position in his arms, her voice clear and serious in the darkness, "You've comforted Qiqi and Yaoyao, but what about your godmother, me? I can't always be just Captain Chen who lends out the house, or a godmother who helps out, can I?"

"I understand." Liu Xiangyang rubbed his chin against the top of her head. "I told Bingbing about us. She was originally planning to come to Bingcheng to see you this time."

"How many women do you have? I know of at least four." Chen Jie pinched him.

Then she changed the subject, "Then I need to make some preparations to meet my good daughter-in-law and good sister."

"However, relying solely on her is still a bit of a barrier," she paused, then continued, "What I mean is, there needs to be a plan that doesn't put you in a difficult position on both sides, nor does it make them feel uncomfortable, as if they think you're having an affair and hiding it from them."

"What are your thoughts?" Liu Xiangyang knew she was meticulous and had a plan.

"Find an excuse, like when the weather warms up in the spring, or when things aren't so busy after the autumn harvest," Chen Jie said calmly and methodically. "You can formally invite me to visit Dongsheng Village."

"Officially, it was just that the godmother was going to visit her godson and get to know his fellow comrades who had been sent to the countryside together. When I went, I was very open and unpretentious, helping with chores when needed and chatting with them when appropriate."

"Let them meet me in person, to know my temperament and character, not just a name or identity relayed by Bingbing."

"Or bring them to Harbin for fun. The more they interact and the more they understand each other, the easier it will be to talk things out."

She slightly raised her head. Although it was dark and they couldn't see each other's expressions, her tone was exceptionally serious. "If we can't get along, then I can only be a waiting-for-husband stone, eagerly waiting every day for you, Uncle Liu, to take pity on me and come to Harbin to see me."

After Chen Jie finished speaking, she buried her face in the crook of his neck, her voice muffled, carrying a rare vulnerability and bitterness that she tried hard to hide but still revealed.

Liu Xiangyang's heart softened, and he hugged her tightly. He could tell that her words were not just a joke, but also contained a hint of genuine anxiety and grievance.

No matter how capable and mature she is, she is still a woman. She will feel uneasy because of the women who appear one after another in his life. She will secretly compare them and be jealous of Xue Bingbing, who is younger than her and has more of his trust and reliance.

"Nonsense." He lowered his head, found her lips, and kissed her gently, a kiss with force. "What 'waiting-for-husband stone'? You, Chen Jie, are my precious treasure that I wish I could carry with me every day."

He cupped her face in his hands, ran his fingertips along her cheek, and said earnestly, "My feelings for you... are heartache, I can't live without you, and no matter where I go or who I'm with, you'll always be the most special one."

These words, half sincere and half comforting, precisely touched the part of Chen Jie's heart that she cared about most. She didn't just want a title; she longed to be needed and loved.

Chen Jie felt a lump in her throat. The slight jealousy and self-pity she felt because of the arrival of the twins and her feelings towards Xue Bingbing were overshadowed by a greater mix of satisfaction and bitterness.

She kissed him hard: "You're always saying sweet things to coax me. I know, in your heart, I'm still a little different from the others, aren't I?"

"Of course it's different." Liu Xiangyang said without hesitation, his fingers tracing her hair as he leaned closer and said, "You are my Captain Chen, my darling, my godmother, and my woman!"

These words, spoken so bluntly, made Chen Jie's body stiffen. The jealousy and bitterness she had been trying to suppress seemed to be violently shattered by these words, then quickly gathered into an even more turbulent mass, blocking her throat and making her nose instantly sting.

"Don't give me that..." Her voice was muffled in the crook of his neck, tinged with a sob that she could no longer hide.

The stillness of the night and the warmth of skin against skin fostered a unique intimacy. Chen Jie chuckled softly, remembering something, her breath brushing against his neck. "What method did you use at the end last night? It felt quite good."

Liu Xiangyang understood the implication in her words and chuckled softly, "Trying to satisfy your cravings again?"

In the darkness, Chen Jie's face flushed slightly, but she didn't back down. Instead, she reached out and touched his cheek, her voice carrying a hint of seduction: "Mmm, I'm craving it."

"What you said makes me hungry too..."

The night passed in the midst of their detailed conversation.

The next morning, Leqi and Leyao woke up and saw that Chen Jie was sleeping soundly. They quietly got out of bed and got dressed.

"Sister, Sister Chen's skin is so good! I wonder how she takes care of it." Le Yao whispered as she leaned closer to Chen Jie to examine her.

Then, she saw something very familiar on Chen Jie. Out of curiosity, she leaned down and sniffed it. A familiar scent rushed into her mind from her nasal cavity.

She was extremely familiar with this smell. Before they returned to Haicheng, this was the delicious food that she, her sister, and Bingbing ate every morning when they woke up and every night before they went to bed.

Le Yao was shocked and was about to take a closer look when Le Qi stopped her from doing so, as she noticed that Sister Chen also had this smell.

"Yaoyao, you'll scare Captain Chen if you do that." Leqi pulled Leyao's hand to stop her from getting any closer.

The noise they made finally woke Chen Jie up.

She yawned softly in Le Yao's direction, rubbed her eyes, which were still misty.

"Qiqi and Yaoyao, you two are up so early! Why didn't you sleep in a little longer?"

Le Yao was now even more certain that the scent on Chen Jie was the same scent of the food she ate every day.

"Wait a minute, didn't Brother Xiangyang say that Sister Chen isn't married? And there's no man in her house either, so why does she smell so similar?" Le Yao thought to herself, full of doubt.

"Captain Chen, we..." Leqi was interrupted by Sister Chen before she could finish speaking.

"Why are you all being so formal? You're Xiangyang's friends, but you're also my friends. We'll treat each other as our own. He calls me godmother, and you call me sister. We'll make him call you aunt later, haha."

At her request, the two sisters, especially Le Yao with mixed feelings, called out, "Sister, let's go wash up first."

Watching the two leave the bedroom, Chen Jie breathed a sigh of relief. She had just woken up and saw Le Yao so close to her. She immediately remembered that she had been too intimate last night and rushed back to the master bedroom before dawn. She was so worried that she didn't have time to brush her teeth or wash her face and almost got caught.

After silently cursing himself a few times, he got up, dressed, and left the bedroom, just in time to run into Liu Xiangyang, who was also coming out of his room.

She glanced at the twins who were washing up, then pulled Liu Xiangyang into the living room and whispered in his ear, "It's all your fault. You didn't come out for so long, and I didn't get back until almost dawn. I didn't even have time to brush my teeth. Yao Yao probably found out something."

Liu Xiangyang stared blankly, pointing at himself, and said, "A person should have a conscience! You were the one who said you were craving something, and now you're blaming me? I'm more wronged than Dou E!"
