Zhang Wen's name

After seeing Li Dakang and Li Laifu off, Zhang Wen went directly to the governor's office.

When the governor saw Zhang Wen arrive, he was a little surprised. He smiled and said, "Comrade Zhang Wen, you are a very busy person. How come you have time to come here?"

"Governor, please don't belittle me. I'm here today to report to you on some work."

"Comrade Zhang Wen, is there some problem with your work?"

"Yes, Governor, I would like you to convene a Standing Committee meeting. Due to Secretary Sha's recent high-pressure anti-corruption campaign, many companies are afraid to invest in our Handong Province."

Governor Liu frowned and said, "What you're talking about is a big problem. Economic issues have always been a red line. I don't care about their internal strife. I'm about to retire and I also want some peace and quiet. But they don't care about the life or death of economic development. This is a red line."

"I will notify all the standing committee members to come to the meeting later."

Inside the round table conference room, Sha Ruijin sat at the head of the table, with Governor Liu Zhenghua to his left and Gao Yuliang and others to his right.

Sha Ruijin began his speech: "Comrades, I just received a notice from Governor Liu that a Standing Committee meeting will be held. Now, please let Comrade Zhenghua speak."

"Comrades, the purpose of my proposal to hold the Standing Committee meeting today is to discuss economic issues. I just reviewed the financial statements for the last quarter, and they are far from ideal. Not only has there been no progress, but there has been a 3 percentage point decline. I propose that we summarize the reasons for this problem. After all, the higher authorities have asked us to work hard to develop the economy, and we must live up to their trust in us."

"Governor Liu's words are insightful," Gao Yuliang suddenly remarked. "Some of our comrades came to Handong and immediately began their investigations, but they haven't solved a single problem."

Sha Ruijin's face darkened as he said, "Secretary Gao, you might as well make your point clearer."

Gao Yuliang said with a smile, "I'm telling the truth. We conduct investigations every day, but we haven't solved any problems. I support anti-corruption, but we need to be scientific in our approach. We can't just use a one-size-fits-all approach. Some officials will definitely have minor issues with economic development. We need to look at this objectively, focus on the major issues and let go of the minor ones, with the aim of curing the disease and saving people."

Governor Liu said, "I agree with what Comrade Yuliang said. Economic development is a red line. We can't ignore economic development just because of the anti-corruption campaign."

Sha Ruijin's face was as black as the bottom of a pot. He never expected that Liu Zhenghua, that old guy, would join forces with Gao Yuliang to attack him.

After calming himself down, Sha Ruijin said, "I can't agree with what you're saying. Corruption must be punished in order to eliminate the cancer within our cadre ranks. Some minor upheavals in this process are understandable."

Governor Liu immediately said, "Anti-corruption is acceptable, but economic development cannot be halted; this is the bottom line." Governor Liu set the tone for this issue: you can fight amongst yourselves, but if it affects the economic development of my province or my retirement, see if I don't deal with you.

Zhang Wen stated, "No form of anti-corruption should hinder economic development."

"I have a question I'd like to discuss at the Standing Committee meeting, which concerns the stalled Guangming Peak project, which was spearheaded by the Jingzhou Municipal Party Committee."

Li Dakang immediately spoke up, "I apologize for this problem. It was my lax management that allowed Ding Yizhen, this corrupt official, to cause such a huge loss."

Gao Yuliang immediately chimed in, "I've heard that Ding Yizhen claims to be your alter ego. Doesn't Secretary Li have anything to say?"

Li Dakang quickly said, "I didn't, I'm not, don't talk nonsense."
