Who moved her body?

Chapter 23 Escape from the Butterfly Club

The big man stopped, tilted his head, and seemed to be searching for the source of the sound. He suddenly let go, and the papaya fell from his head.

The big guy walked towards the place where Guan Jie had just made the sound, hissing as he did so.

Guan Jie rubbed the carpet as he walked towards the big guy. When he was two meters away from the big guy, he jumped up and stepped onto the coffee table. In mid-air, he did a side somersault, and the wine bottle in his hand landed squarely on the back of the big guy's head.

The big guy reached out his hand, made a weak grabbing motion in mid-air, and then collapsed to the ground with a mysterious smile.

Xu Haiyang stretched his neck and waited until the big guy stopped moving completely before he smiled.

Chen Kaipiao's mouth was slightly open, his eyes following the big guy as he fell to the ground onto the carpet.

"Let's go," Guan Jie said to Xu Haiyang.

Papaya stood up, holding onto the sofa, staring blankly at the large figure on the floor.

Xu Haiyang swayed as he walked up to Chen Kaipiao, grabbed a wine bottle, and said, "Chen Kaipiao, Chen Kaipiao, don't you think it's time to change your nickname?"

Just as Xu Haiyang raised his bottle, Guan Jie strode forward, grabbed Xu Haiyang's wrist, and said, "Keeping him alive is useful. We don't know how many thugs are lurking outside. If he dies, we won't be able to get out either."

Xu Haiyang glanced at Guan Jie and immediately let go.

"I'll listen to you, Zhao Ren."

Guan Jie waved to the two thugs, "Take him with you, don't let him get away."

The thugs immediately came over, took off their ties, and tied Chen Kaipiao's hands together. Then, one of them held Chen Kaipiao up while the other held a piece of glass across his neck.

"Walk!"

Chen Kaipiao didn't say anything, and silently followed the two thugs out of the private room.

"Go through the side door," Guan Jie said, pointing to a small door.

As he went upstairs, he noticed a small door, located to the right front of where the papaya parking area was, hidden among a row of greenery next to the main gate. The door in front of him was the same size and color as the one below, and Guan Jie guessed that this door should lead directly to the outside of the Butterfly Club.

Mugua opened the small gray door marked "fire door," and Chen Kaipiao, who had been calm, began to show signs of unease. One of the thugs pushed hard a few times before finally shoving the unwilling Chen Kaipiao into the dark stairwell. Another thug turned on the flashlight on his phone, Mugua helped Xu Haiyang along in the middle, and Guan Jie brought up the rear. After everyone went inside, Guan Jie locked the door from the inside.

Going up the stairs and then winding down again felt like walking through a tunnel.

As Mugua turned the corner, she saw Guan Jie suddenly stop. The green light from the "Safety Passage" sign illuminated Guan Jie's face. Guan Jie was pale and his forehead was covered in sweat.

"Are you alright?" Papaya asked softly.

Xu Haiyang turned around, quickly pushed Mugua away, and said, "Go help Zhao Ren! What the hell are you doing helping me?"

Guan Jie walked past Xu Haiyang and Mu Gua, looked at Chen Kaipiao and said, "I'm fine, I was just listening to see if anyone was catching up. Let's go."

Chen Kaipiao was a little disappointed, but continued walking despite being pushed and shoved by the thugs. Xu Haiyang breathed a sigh of relief, while Mugua secretly lagged behind a few steps and walked alongside Guan Jie.

Mugua knew Guan Jie was acting strangely. Just as she was about to reach out, Guan Jie gently shook his head. Mugua followed Guan Jie's gaze and saw that Chen Kaipiao had been observing Guan Jie the whole time. Mugua quickened her pace and left Guan Jie.

Unlock the fire door from the inside, pull it open, and a parking lot full of luxury cars appears before your eyes, like a theater curtain, surprising yet unreal.

Papaya was the first to peek out, observed for a moment, and then said to Guan Jie, "There are quite a few thugs at the main gate."

Chen Kaipiao gave a sinister smirk. There seemed to be a lot of noise coming from the other end of the escape staircase, and the sound of someone turning the handle of a fire door.

Guan Jie whispered a few words in Mu Gua's ear. Mu Gua nodded, opened a crack in the door, and slipped out through the gap.

"Him?" Xu Haiyang asked Guan Jie, pointing to the closed fire door.

Guan Jie pulled off another thug's tie, tied Chen Kaipiao's hands behind his back to the stair railing, turned around and pulled out a handkerchief that was sticking out of Xu Haiyang's pocket and stuffed it into Chen Kaipiao's mouth.

"Sorry, brother, see you later." Guan Jie smiled apologetically.

Chen Kaipiao did not resist, calmly letting Guan Jie do whatever he wanted.

"What, you're just going to let him go like this? No way, I'm going to kill this bastard!" Xu Haiyang rushed over and snatched the shard of glass from the thug's hand.

Guan Jie raised his left arm to block Chen Kaipiao's neck; the sound of glass cutting through skin was faint but carried the metallic smell.

"I, you..." Xu Haiyang threw down the glass in his hand in anger and frustration, stomped his foot in disappointment, and said to Chen Kaipiao, "You're lucky today, if it weren't for my brother, I would have torn you to pieces."

"Thank you for going easy on me," Guan Jie said to Xu Haiyang, who waved his hand dismissively.

The sound of a car starting could be heard. Guan Jie opened the fire door. "Let's go!"

Before the golf ball had even come to a complete stop, Xu Haiyang jumped into the passenger seat, while Guan Jie and two thugs sat in the back.

A dozen or so thugs in suits rushed up the fire escape stairs, all of them wielding iron bars. They rescued Chen Kaipiao and smashed the rear windshield of the Papaya car as they rushed out.

Upon receiving the news, the thugs at the gate swarmed towards Papaya Golf Club like wolves pouncing on their prey.

Behind them were pursuers, ahead lay a formidable enemy, to the left was a parking lot full of cars, and to the right was the Butterfly Club. The thugs from the club and the parking lot were also beginning to converge here, forming a dense, dark mass that could almost lift a golf ball and throw it into the sea.

"What do we do, boss? There are too many of them, there's no way out!" Papaya was almost in tears.

The iron rod landed on the car window, and another pane of glass shattered into a spiderweb pattern.

Xu Haiyang huddled in his seat, covering his head. A thug raised an iron bar and headed straight for the passenger seat. In less than three seconds, the iron bar would hit the glass.

"Get in the passenger seat!" Guan Jie pulled with his right hand and lifted Mugua out of the driver's seat.

Papaya leaned against Xu Haiyang's lap, and as soon as Xu Haiyang looked up, the car began to reverse like an arrow.

"Hold on tight!" Guan Jie shouted.

The thugs behind didn't expect the car to reverse, and they panicked and dodged to both sides. The thugs behind immediately pulled up the prepared iron chain to stop the car, and another thug scattered a handful of tire spikes on the ground.

The rear windshield of the car was gone, and the wind was howling into the car. The two thugs in the back were holding tightly to the handrails, not knowing how much longer they could live.

Guan Jie slammed on the brakes, pulled the handbrake sharply, and turned the steering wheel sharply to the left. The rear wheels stopped just before the first punctured nail, and with a screech of tires and two sparks, Papaya's Golf pulled off a perfect drift for the first time in its life.

And so, Guan Jie crossed the parking lot from where Mu Gua had originally parked, shaking off the thugs who were waiting for them.

"Damn, that's some serious driving skill!" Xu Haiyang perked up again, pointing disdainfully at the back seat and saying to Mugua, "Get in the back. You're not a beauty, do you expect me to carry you the whole way?"

"Sorry, boss, I'll go to the back now, hehe." Papaya scrambled to the back seat and squeezed in with two thugs who were gripping the handles tightly.

Chen Kaipiao's men arrived in a car, and the guardrail a dozen meters away had already been lowered by the security guards.

"Hurry up, hurry up!" Xu Haiyang looked back at the sports car behind him, stamping his feet anxiously.

"Smash my car! I'll smash yours too!" Papaya grabbed a fire extinguisher from beside her feet, stuck her head out, raised the extinguisher, and threw it at the sports car behind her.

With a loud crash, rings of marks appeared on the windshield of the car behind. Although it didn't break, the car swayed from side to side for a moment. In that brief moment, Papaya's Golf broke through the guardrail and drove onto the road.
