Late Ming Dynasty: The Counterattack Begins with Sea Pirates
明末:从海寇开始反攻
Summary
In 1637, seven years before the fall of the Ming Dynasty, beset by internal and external troubles, the imperial court had become deeply corrupt. Officials and merchants colluded, enriching themselves at the expense of the people, neglecting the fate of the nation. The protagonist, Chi Honghai, was originally a merchant from the southeastern coast. He colluded with officials, smuggling goods and splitting the profits 30/70. But 70% wasn't enough; the officials wanted both fame and fortune. Betrayed, he lost everything. With all other avenues blocked, the desperate Chi Honghai chose to become a pirate. He established himself in Hong Kong, first robbing government officials. He planned to seize Taiwan and then plunder the communists. But no matter how vast his fortune, there were always those who coveted it. In a time of great strife, retreating even half a step meant losing a great deal. Therefore, he resolved to establish a new Ming Dynasty, preserve his wealth for generations, save the nation from peril, and bring prosperity to the people. [This work draws upon as much historical data as possible related to the Western Age of Exploration during the same period.] This includes, but is not limited to, ship classification, personnel and artillery configuration, naval combat methods, warship construction status, and warship characteristics.
