All Heavens: Starting with the Predator, I'm No Longer Human
Chapter 49 Aliens and Predators
"Rina, how about we set off for Pandora tomorrow? Don't you like the scenery there? This is a good opportunity to go and see it."
He still couldn't forget it, and scenes from the movie Avatar kept flashing through his mind.
"Haha... Chu! Even if you want to go, you'll have to wait a few days." Reina couldn't help but laugh, as this was the first time she had seen him so impatient.
Why?
Centaurus isn't far away; at the Predator's ship speed, it would only take a week to get there. If things go smoothly, he felt a month would be enough time for him to play around.
It wouldn't delay finding teammates later, or getting to know each other better for the Centennial Hunting Competition. He didn't understand why Reina was waiting a few days.
"Hahaha..." She laughed so hard she could hardly breathe, clutching her stomach and bending over.
"Hey! That's going too far!"
Chu Cige was speechless. What was so funny about this?
"Chu! You don't think interstellar travel doesn't require reporting or preparation, do you? You just fly off in your spaceship without doing anything?"
"..."
After she finished laughing, she stood up and explained, "Besides, the air on Pandora is not suitable for our survival, so we need to prepare a special set of equipment."
"You don't need it. Your nanoarmor is equipped with an automatic isolation conversion device, but I can't."
"Oh, I see," he said, scratching the back of his hand slightly embarrassed, having not noticed these details. He'd just been recalling in his mind that humans were unsuitable for survival, but he'd forgotten it in the blink of an eye.
Seeing that he didn't speak, Reina didn't continue to mock him, otherwise she would be the one suffering tonight. She said, "Didn't you promise Instructor Lone Wolf that you would spar with him? You're not going to stand him up, are you?"
She said with a sneer, "If you don't want to get a good beating when you come back, I suggest you find some time to go there tomorrow."
"But I'm making this clear to you, you're not allowed to work that hard this time..."
Reina's serious yet concerned tone echoed in his ear, leaving him somewhat speechless. Fortunately, the laboratory ahead appeared, attracting her attention.
This relieved Chu Cige. He knew that Reina cared about him, but her nagging was too torturous. He would definitely teach her a lesson that night.
Following Reina's gaze.
"Forehead……?"
He thought the avatars he saw in front of him were already surprising enough, but he didn't expect there to be "experts" in the laboratory behind him.
In the laboratory ahead, a deformed lizard-man lay on the dissection table, its heart and lungs being removed. A large hole was cut open in its chest, and its organs had been perfectly removed and placed on a table next to it, being soaked in an unknown liquid.
The reason he called them deformed lizard people was simply because he didn't know how else to describe them.
It still has a body structure similar to that of a human, but it has a large head on its shoulders, like a lizard, but its eyes seem to have degenerated, with only the whites of its eyes and small pupils. There is a depression below its eyelids and between its nose, covered with dense bumps, the purpose of which is unknown.
Although it appears to be able to walk upright like a human, all four of its limbs are the same length, with no obvious differences. Moreover, its tail is long and thin. From Chu Ci Ge's perspective, it looks like an incompletely evolved lizard.
"Rina, does this thing have intelligence?" He wasn't particularly interested in other aspects of the deformed lizardman, but he was quite curious about whether this thing was intelligent.
Reina's eyes never left the various organs that had been removed. Seeing her like this, Chu Cige was afraid that she would be unable to resist going in and picking them up to admire them.
"Um... what did you just say?"
Seeing that she was still engrossed in it, he had no choice but to ask again.
Reina then said with interest, "Oh! You mean this? The intelligence of the lizard people inside has long since degenerated."
"Degeneration?"
"Why use this word?" he asked, puzzled.
"Yes! After discovering the Lizard People, we conducted various studies on them. Judging from the various ancient relics found on their planet, this species' civilization was technologically advanced for a period of time and had the ability to leave the surface..."
"Then, for some unknown reason, their civilization suddenly experienced a break in continuity; all their advanced technologies were destroyed, and even basic knowledge was not passed down..."
Reina's tone was full of sighs, as if lamenting the destruction of an intelligent civilization.
"Through our research on their brain regions, we discovered that their brains are slowly degenerating, and their limb muscles and skin are also re-evolving..."
Chu Cige never expected that this deformed lizardman was not an under-evolved species, but rather a degenerate from intelligent beings.
Judging from Reina's explanation, these lizardmen are very similar to the technological civilization on Earth. Both were civilizations that had just left the surface of the earth, but many years ago, they suffered a devastating blow and never recovered...
Chu Cige remained indifferent. It seemed that this iron-blooded world was not as simple as he had thought. Not only were there aliens and Avatars, but now degenerate lizardmen had also appeared.
The variety of species is so vast; who knows what strange creatures might appear next?
In the laboratory after that, there were no more species that surprised him; most of them were wild beasts he had never seen before. He might have been more interested in these unfamiliar species before.
It's clear that after seeing the Avatars and the Reptilians, he wasn't particularly impressed by these mindless beasts. The only thing that caught his eye was an animal that bore a striking resemblance to a dinosaur, which Rena called a "Spinosaurus" hound...
Even after Reina had shown him around all the Hive Labs, what impressed Chu Cige the most were still Avatar and the Lizardmen.
Following behind her, he thought about how to quickly complete his duel with Lone Wolf after returning, and urged Rena to make all the necessary preparations so that they could go to Pandora as soon as possible and witness the wonders of the Na'vi species.
But gradually, he realized something was wrong. Reina didn't take him out immediately. Instead, she led him through a hidden passage and they appeared in front of a large alloy door.
besides?
The research lab outside wasn't the whole picture; was there something else inside? Chu Cige's interest was piqued. He now wanted to know what was so special about this hidden laboratory...
"Let's go!" Reina said, turning around as she swiped open the door.
The door opened, and the pristine white space was no longer revealed.
Before him was a long corridor, and he couldn't see how far ahead it was. The corridor was lined with glass walls, inside which was a lush green forest. When he looked up, he could see the blue sky and the sun high in the sky.
This place is like a primeval forest, full of vitality. Unfortunately, after observing for a long time, he did not find any creatures in the forest. Perhaps the creatures inside were consciously avoiding this place because they were too close to the glass wall.
The further Chu Cige went, the deeper his doubts became. He wondered what kind of experiment was being conducted by building such a large primitive ecological park.
However, seeing Reina hurrying ahead with his head down, he didn't ask. He figured he'd find out what this place was for soon enough.
