Dragon Raja: Lu Mingfei's War Journey

Chapter 17 Forming an Expedition

Just as everyone was sinking into despair again, Nono spoke up.

"We can use the seat cushions of chairs to tie to our feet to make simple snowshoes, which increases the contact area between our feet and the snow. This way, the pressure is reduced, and we are less likely to sink completely into the snow."

Although she lay on the ground recovering from her injuries, her mind was constantly thinking about how to escape. She was not one to sit idly by and wait for death. If her body hadn't prevented her from doing so, she would have already taken Lu Mingfei to climb the snow-capped mountains and find a way out.

Upon hearing Nono's words, Perez's eyes lit up, and he immediately took action. He deftly removed the foam cushions from the two relatively intact seats, tied them to the soles of his shoes with the strips of cloth he found, and then walked out onto the snow outside the cabin.

He tentatively placed one foot on the snow. The sensation under his foot was no longer the instantaneous sinking feeling he had experienced before; it only sank a little, and his ankle wasn't completely submerged.

He took another step and began to try walking. Although his steps were still clumsy and heavy, far less easy than on flat ground, at least he was no longer unable to move an inch and was able to support him to move relatively long distances across the snowfield.

"It worked! It really works! I can walk! I can really walk on the snow!" Perez was as excited as a child, walking back and forth in the snow for a few steps, then waving his arms towards the cabin and shouting loudly.

Those around him saw Perez walking in the snow and were immediately filled with hope again.

"Now that we have the tools to get out, we can't hesitate any longer. We must take the initiative. We need to select five people to form an expedition team and set off tomorrow to find the broken tail section, the battery, and any other possible supplies! Anyone want to volunteer?" Marcelo said, looking around at the people around him.

"Count me in!" Perez, who was walking in the snow outside, was the first to raise his hand and say.

"I'm going too, and I'll bring the food back!" Cancesa, who was sitting on the other side of the cabin, stood up and shouted, not only because he wanted to prove himself, but also because his act of opening the wine yesterday had indeed affected the team.

"Count me in! Count me in too!" Canesa and Roy raised their hands together. They were best friends and among the few able-bodied people here, so they naturally had to be included in this mission.

"Anyone else planning to participate?" Marcelo asked, seeing that only four people had raised their hands.

After hesitating for a moment, Lu Mingfei raised his hand: "Count me in too."

"Are you crazy? Put your hand down right now." Nono looked at Lu Mingfei, who had raised his hand, in disbelief. In her mind, this loser was not the kind of person who liked to show off at this time.

"Nono, you know... I'm actually someone who occasionally goes crazy." Lu Mingfei smiled shyly at Nono, but still didn't let go of her hand.

"Then Perez, Cancesa, Canessa, Roy, and Lu will form an expedition team tomorrow morning to search for the tail section. Let's pay tribute to the heroes!" Marcelo led the applause, followed by thunderous applause in the cabin.

These five men will venture into uncharted territory to find a way to survive for everyone in the cabin; they are all heroes.

Heroes deserve hero treatment, so Marcelo took out the little food he had and shared it with Lu Mingfei and the others.

Lu Mingfei received a piece of nougat, a cap of jam, and some mussels that provided protein and salt; this amount clearly exceeded his usual ration.

Because of the food shortage, everyone else's food had to be further reduced, and Nono only received a small amount of jam and a dried plum.

"I'll share some with you." Lu Mingfei sat down next to Nuonuo, looking at the meager amount of food in her hand, and wanted to share his mussels with Nuonuo.

"No need, you're going out tomorrow and need this food to replenish your energy." Nono pushed the food that Lu Mingfei offered back.

Lu Mingfei didn't insist any further. He did need the food. In the past few days, his already thin body had become even thinner. Without enough food to provide calories, he couldn't walk very far.

Nono looked at Lu Mingfei's profile, wanting to ask him something several times, but in the end she didn't say anything.

Night fell again, but this time Lu Mingfei didn't have to sleep in the damaged part of the plane. He slept in the cargo hold, the warmest place on the entire plane, so that he could get a good night's sleep and prepare for tomorrow's adventure.

Lu Mingfei brought Nuonuo back as well, and then, as usual, he hugged Nuonuo in his arms. Hugging was an unspoken understanding between the two of them at this point, and after hugging for a while, it even felt like an old married couple.

Nuonuo leaned against Lu Mingfei's chest, unable to fall asleep. She was worried that Lu Mingfei might encounter some accident when he went out tomorrow. She couldn't put her mind at ease letting such a good-for-nothing go out to do such a dangerous thing.

Just then, Nono felt a sudden urge to urinate in her abdomen; this was the first time she had felt the urge to go to the toilet since waking up.

"Lu Mingfei...are you asleep...?" Nuonuo nudged Lu Mingfei's chest, her voice barely audible. Given her current injuries, it would be difficult for her to walk to the toilet by herself.

"What's wrong with Nuonuo?" Lu Mingfei was woken up by Nuonuo just as he entered his dream.

"I need to...go to the toilet..." Nono said shyly, her face flushed. Although it was a little embarrassing to say, the thought of wetting her pants was even more unacceptable to her.

"Oh, oh, oh..." Lu Mingfei nodded quickly upon hearing this, and then helped Nuonuo walk towards the cockpit.

By this time, the two bodies in the cockpit had been removed. They dug a hole in the damaged area of the cockpit and used it as a toilet. During the day, someone would cover up the excrement or move it to another place.

Fortunately, the surrounding frigid conditions meant that the excrement didn't smell bad. If this were in the desert, Lu Mingfei couldn't believe what the cabin would smell like now.

Soon, Nuonuo arrived at the cockpit with Lu Mingfei's help.

"Don't peek!" Nono warned, blushing.

"Don't worry." Lu Mingfei immediately turned his back to Nuonuo and leaned against the aisle.

Soon, he heard the rustling sound of clothes behind him, followed by the sound of running water. The atmosphere between the two immediately became strange, and Nuonuo's face turned even redder.

"Hey, Lu Mingfei, why did you raise your hand to join the expedition team today?" To ease the tension, Nuonuo asked, something she had wanted to ask before.

"Because I gave them unrealistic hope with the aluminum sheet, which led to this situation, I am also responsible for it. Moreover, if we find the battery and fix the radio, then we can both be saved. I also want to bring you back alive, so I am willing to take a risk," Lu Mingfei said.

Nono was stunned. She looked at the young man's face and realized that the boy's childishness had faded and he had even grown some black stubble. He was no longer the loser she had first seen. He seemed to have really grown up and become reliable.
