The dream of becoming a Pokémon master

28. This is what a normal gym battle should be like!

"Next up is the Gym Challenge of the Fairy Forest Gym. The rules are three against three. The Gym Leader cannot change their Pokémon, but the challenger can change them freely. The challenge ends when all of one side's Pokémon are unable to battle or they concede. Do either side have any objections?" After chasing away the people gathered in the middle of the arena, Fan also came to the side to act as the referee.

It seems that being a butler for the young master is not easy; various certificates are required for the exam.

"No objection," Kyosuke replied.

Fan glanced at Muji, who was impatiently gesturing with his hands to indicate his name, and didn't want to ask for his opinion anymore. He still knew his young master very well.

"Gym Challenge Begins!" Fan raised his left hand and slid it down, announcing the official start of the duel.

Then, the situation became awkward.

"Ahem, then let the Gym Leader summon the Pokémon first." Fan hadn't expected that Muji would forget the entire Gym Challenge process, so he had to remind him.

Being a housekeeper is exhausting. I'm filled with bitterness.

"Okay, okay," Kiji replied impatiently. He patted his pocket, picked out a Poké Ball, and said, "Anyway, you can go first."

"Sayonara!" appeared Hitmonlee. Having just been summoned, it habitually unleashed a kick. Its two muscular thighs indicated that its level was not low.

"Of the three Pokémon evolved from Fearless Boy, Hitmonlee has the strongest attack," Kyosuke tried to analyze. "In that case, Crybaby, make your appearance!"

As soon as Nidoran was summoned, he roared "Nido!" and was about to charge forward, ready to start today's easy kill.

"Wait a minute, you crybaby. This is a gym battle. You need to follow orders." Kyosuke's words made Nidoran stop.

Nidoran, still haunted by the fear of being dominated by Mewtwo at the Viridian Gym, was filled with dread towards gyms. Upon hearing that this was another gym battle, he immediately became obedient, even trembling slightly.

"His name is Crybaby? Hahaha, he's even trembling with fear! I have to say, you two are quite a match." Kiji couldn't help but laugh out loud when he heard Kyosuke's words.

Hearing the "big boss's" mockery, Nidoran shrank back even further.

Seeing Nidoran's behavior, Kyosuke was speechless. Nidoran was quite the bully who preyed on the weak, but to be so afraid of an opponent he had never even met, especially one that was only a Fighting-type with half the attack power, was a different story. Who knew how he would cope when he encountered a truly powerful enemy in the future?

But for now, let's finish the gym battle first.

"First match: Nidoran vs. Hitmonlee, the battle begins!"

"Crybaby, attack with poison needles!" Kyosuke ordered, seizing the initiative.

Upon hearing the order, Nidoran, though still somewhat frightened, spat out a row of poison needles, but both the force and accuracy were less than usual.

Without even giving a command, Hitmonlee easily dodged with its long legs.

"Spinning kick." The distracted Kiji finally refocused on the battle and gave the order.

Flying Kick immediately charged towards Nidoran, his two legs suddenly extending, about to strike Nidoran's face.

"Quickly dodge!" This is the skill that Kyosuke practices the most with his three Pokémon. He knows that as long as he masters dodging, he can become the strongest.

However, Nidoran's current condition is not up to his usual training level; he simply twisted his body to make the impact point on his body instead of his face.

If Nidoran were conscious now, he would find that the damage was not as high as he had imagined, but his fear of the gym had made him lose his mind, and he was even forced into a cowering state by the roundhouse kick.

"Am I lucky?" Kyosuke wondered to himself.

It wasn't just good luck; it would have been bad luck if Kijiro hadn't flinched. If we're talking about good luck, it was more like Kijiro happened to give the right command and hadn't been poisoned.

"Crybaby, just keep hitting me." Since there's no way to communicate, might as well just keep hitting me randomly. That was Kyosuke's idea.

"Flying kick!" Kiji ordered.

Hitmonlee leaped high into the air, dodging Nidoran's flurry of attacks, then swiftly landed, stomping on Nidoran's head and causing immense damage. However, he himself was also poisoned in the process.

It is the stinging property of Nidoran.

"I underestimated Kiji." Kyosuke thought to himself as he looked at the scene. He had thought Kiji was just an ordinary young master, but Kiji had a unique sensitivity to Pokémon battles and always gave the right commands appropriately.

In the past two rounds, aside from passively causing Hitmonlee to be poisoned, Nidoran did not launch a single effective attack. In a serious battle, even if Nidoran was slightly off, he would have had a high chance of defeating Hitmonlee under Kyosuke's command. However, his mental breakdown led to the entire match being one-sided.

"I wonder when he'll be able to grow up," Kyosuke sighed.

However, if we still want to win, we can only wait for an opportunity.

This time, Kyosuke did not give the order first, but waited for the other side to make the first move.

Kiji, however, also preferred to counterattack later, waiting for Kyosuke's orders.

A silence fell over the room.

It was Flying Kick's poison attack that shattered the peace.

Kyosuke can hold out, but Kiji can't. Hit-Roh is currently poisoned and his stamina is decreasing over time, while Nidoran can slowly recover by resting.

"Double kick," Kiji ordered.

Hitmonlee charged toward Nidoran, controlling the distance to ensure he was in a safe position while still being able to attack his opponent.

"Charge!" Kyosuke yelled at Nidoran!

Although he felt he was about to give up, he had no choice but to trust Kyosuke. Nidoran thought to himself and began his sprint.

As Flying Kick saw Nidoran approaching, he was puzzled, but he still kicked at him without hesitation.

"Double the payback!" Kyosuke, having assessed the distance and timing, shouted out his ultimate move when he was certain that Flying Kick couldn't stop!

Although it was a clash between two fighting-type moves, the contact generated a large amount of dust, obscuring the vision of both sides.

When the dust settled, only the panting Flying Kick Bro remained standing in the arena. Nidoran, on the other hand, had lost his ability to fight.

"Nidoran is unable to battle. Challenger, please send out your next Pokémon immediately." Fan was quite professional in this regard, with standard gestures and wording.

"Come back, you crybaby." Kyosuke recalled Nidoran, put the Poké Ball to his lips and whispered, "I know you still have energy, but don't be lazy next time."

He put Nidoran's Poké Ball back on his waist, then took out the next one: "It's your turn, Little Fire!"

"Hey!" the little dragon roared as it made its appearance!

"This is a gym battle, so we need to take it seriously!"

"Nee! Nee!" Compared to the crybaby's cowardice upon hearing this, the little dragon was much more determined. He was a brave warrior who dared to challenge Kyosuke!

"The second match: Charmander versus Hitmonlee, let the battle begin!"
