My clone invades all realms
Chapter 40, First Assessment
The airship slowly descended and came to rest atop a towering, cloud-piercing tower.
The sunlight was blinding.
A staff member in a green suit stood in front of the crowd with his hands behind his back.
"Dear candidates, the location for the third assessment is the Trap Tower."
"The assessment shall now begin."
As soon as he finished speaking, the man turned and returned to the airship.
The airship's engines roared as it slowly ascended, quickly becoming a black dot before disappearing into the clouds.
Roya walked to the edge of the tower and looked down, where the bottom was invisible.
Even for him, falling from that height would be certain death.
The examinees scattered, searching for a way down from the top platform of the tower.
"I'm a rock climbing champion!"
A confident candidate began to attempt to climb down the tower wall with his bare hands.
They had only gone down less than ten meters when several pink flying monsters suddenly appeared around the tower wall.
They flapped their wings and flew by.
One of the larger, more ferocious red monsters swallowed the climber whole, before he could even scream.
The top of the tower was deathly silent.
Everyone then realized that trying to go down from the outside was tantamount to suicide.
Roya's gaze swept across the distant sky, where he could see even more kinds of flying monsters circling overhead.
The only way to survive is at the top of the tower.
The candidates had no choice but to abandon their fantasies and begin a careful search of the flat ground at the top of the tower.
Luo Ya knew this place well. He gently stepped and tapped on the ground, and quickly located an area where the sound was different from the other places.
"This is it."
Without hesitation, Luo Ya took a few steps back, then suddenly leaped up and landed heavily on the ground.
"boom!"
The ground collapsed, revealing a dark hole.
Luo Ya's figure vanished instantly at the cave entrance.
After the feeling of falling subsided, Luo Ya landed steadily.
This is a closed stone chamber, dimly lit.
The room was empty, the only object being a stone platform next to it with three metal bracelets on it.
"In groups of three?"
Luo Ya walked to the stone platform and his gaze fell on the words carved on it.
He fell silent.
"I can't understand a single word!"
He was completely unfamiliar with the world's written language; in a sense, Roya was now illiterate.
"What's going on? Couldn't they have included a written document along with the identity information?" Luo Ya sighed helplessly.
The identity provided by the system only contained fragments of memories, giving him a general idea of who he was, but it did not include the knowledge and skills that this identity should possess.
However, although he couldn't read the words, Luo Ya still understood the core logic of the rules.
The minority must submit to the majority.
"Three bracelets, that means we need to gather three people." Luo Ya looked at the number of bracelets.
Just then, a noise came from the hole above.
Two figures fell from above one after the other.
Luo Ya turned his head and his expression instantly became serious.
"Hisoka!"
"Yo." Hisoka landed, saw Roya, and smiled, waving in greeting. "Fate is truly a wondrous arrangement, isn't it?"
He walked with a distinctive gait to Roya's side, his gaze falling on the inscription on the stone platform, his right hand gently stroking his chin.
"The minority obeys the majority; an interesting rule."
As soon as Hisoka finished speaking, the second person who had fallen stepped forward, expressionlessly picked up a bracelet, and fastened it directly to his wrist.
"Click-clack".
The man was covered in nails, and his movements were as stiff as a marionette.
Illumi Zoldyck.
The two most dangerous people in this Hunter Exam both appeared at the same entrance.
Hisoka seemed unsurprised, and casually picked up a bracelet, fastening it with a click.
Roya picked up the last one.
The moment the three of them put on the bracelets, a heavy scraping sound came from the wall on one side of the stone chamber, and it slowly rose up, revealing three identical stone doors.
Hisoka's gaze swept between the three doors before settling on Roya and Illumi: "Together, or separately?"
Roya's voice was low: "Let's split up."
Illumi made a "clicking" sound as he rubbed his joints together, giving the same answer: "Separate."
Luo Ya said no more and directly chose the middle door.
"Roya, is that so?"
Hisoka's voice suddenly came from behind.
Luo Ya stopped and turned to look.
Hisoka's smile grew even wider: "You've successfully activated your Nen."
Luo Ya's eyes turned cold.
A thought filled with pure malice, like a tangible pressure, instantly crushed towards Hisoka.
"Oh?" Hisoka's expression turned extremely enjoyable: "What an astonishingly powerful aura! It's only just been developed, and it's already this strong?"
next second.
An even larger and more sinister malice erupted from Hisoka, pressing back against Roya without showing any weakness.
Two forces of malice, similar in nature yet completely different, collided and clashed in the air.
After a brief standoff, Hisoka voluntarily withdrew his Nen.
He stuck out his tongue, licked his lips, and said with excitement in his eyes, "But you're still very green. I'm starting to look forward to seeing how you grow."
After saying that, he turned and walked into the door on the left.
Illumi simply watched calmly from beginning to end.
He took stiff steps and walked into the rightmost door.
Luo Ya withdrew his gaze and stepped into the central passage.
Behind the door was a spiral staircase leading downwards, and at intervals along the wall was a dim candle.
"It was definitely arranged on purpose." Roya looked at the obviously abnormal layout.
At the bottom of the stairs, a figure stood quietly, draped in a large brown cloak that completely concealed his form.
As Roya's footsteps drew closer.
The man ripped off his cloak, revealing his well-built upper body; his bulging muscles made his tight vest bulge.
"Heh..." The man chuckled softly, cracking his knuckles. "If I kill you, I can get my sentence reduced."
Roya's hand gently rested on the hilt of the sword at his waist.
This is a targeted attack.
Or rather, it was a trap specifically set for Hisoka.
The rule of majority rule, which originally applied to the minority, has become invalid here.
No matter which path Hisoka chooses, it will eventually lead here.
Those in his group will face a direct life-or-death struggle.
"Are you a Nen user?" Roya asked.
"What the hell? Are you talking about those acrobatic tricks in the circus?" The man clenched his fists, making a cracking sound, and approached Roya step by step.
"I see, they're just cannon fodder used to deal with ordinary test takers." Luo Ya curled his lip.
I originally wanted to test my new power on a Nen user.
It seems that the only worthy opponent is that former examiner who targeted Hisoka.
Luo Ya's figure had appeared behind the man at some point.
The man's sinister smile froze. He was somewhat taken aback and tried to turn around, but only saw Roya slowly sheathing his sword.
Luo Ya didn't even glance at him again, and continued walking straight down the stairs.
"laugh."
A thin line of blood slowly appeared on the man's neck, then quickly expanded.
The next moment, his head slid off his neck and rolled to the ground.
"Miscellaneous fish."
Luo Ya remained expressionless, his steps unwavering, and his figure quickly disappeared around the corner of the stairs.
