Chapter 198 Playing Tricks

The quiet prison was like a monster that devoured people, with the governor and his men moving quickly through it.

The sound of hurried footsteps echoed in the corridor as the governor, suppressing his anger, scanned each room one by one.

What annoyed him even more was that there was no sign of anyone in any of the rooms.

The emptiness made him feel like he was exploring a no-man's-land.

Two key personnel following behind the governor were busy running around, their bodies sweating from the effort.

Not only the governor, but also his scattered subordinates could not find anyone.

They were all like headless flies running around in the prison.

A gunshot rang out, like a sharp sword piercing the night, instantly drawing everyone's attention.

The governor turned around abruptly, his eyes gleaming with a greedy light as he locked onto his prey. "Found you."

"Let's go!" The governor started running, excitedly heading in the direction of the voice.

The two subordinates who were following them also became excited and quickened their pace.

By the time the governor arrived, several people had already gathered there.

The governor frowned and stepped forward, asking, "What's going on?"

The group dispersed, revealing the tightly locked cafeteria door.

The canteen door in the prison is different from the room doors; it's made of steel. Shooting might not open the door, but ricochets would definitely injure someone.

The governor pointed at the two men and said, "You two, take your axes and machetes and start chopping."

Under the governor's intimidating gaze, the two had no choice but to grab their axes and start fighting.

With a few more blows, the axe broke the hinges of the cafeteria door.

The canteen door collapsed again, and when the governor saw what was inside, his face fell.

Like the other rooms, it was almost completely emptied, with only some old tables and chairs and nothing else.

The governor stood there, panting heavily.

Just then, another gunshot rang out.

The governor seemed to realize something and turned to look in the direction of the gunshot.

The sound of that gunshot had a strange sense of déjà vu.

Yes, that's right. That's the gunshot that led them to the cafeteria.

But the governor had no other choice and said sullenly, "Let's go."

A group of people rushed over; it was a sealed-off prison area.

The prison area is connected to the outside by an iron gate, which is locked and even harder to open than the canteen gate.

But what excited the governor was that he could see what the prison area looked like through the iron bars of the gate.

The prison area has two floors of cells, with more than ten cells on each floor.

When the governor looked over, he could see a shadowy figure moving inside one of the cells.

That's a person.

"Quickly, open the door for me!"

The governor gave the order with excitement.

After struggling to open the door, the governor quickly led his men to the cell.

The individual cells in the prison are very small, with two bunk beds and small iron bars on the door, allowing a clear view of everything inside the cell.

There was no sign of anyone in the cell except for a mannequin. The reason it was shaking was because there were seven small devices next to the mannequin that could tap it repeatedly.

The governor's mood was beyond terrible; Michonne and the others were treating him like a dog, leading him by the nose.

But what hurt the most was that he couldn't even find the other person, and gloom raged in his chest.

Before the governor could hesitate for long, the gunshot rang out again.

The governor didn't even bother to turn his head this time.

The men didn't even bother to look over; after being tricked twice, they all knew that the enemy was leading them by the nose.

At that moment, a person peeked out from the iron gate of the prison area.

Michonne coldly shouted, "Hey!"

Upon hearing that familiar voice, the governor turned around instantly.

Michonne raised her automatic rifle and fired a series of shots.

Bullets thudded against the walls, the ground, and human bodies.

"ah"

Screams rose and fell, and the governor dodged and immediately fired.

The governor's subordinates also retaliated swiftly.

But by the time they retaliated, Michonne had already disappeared through the doorway.

The governor hurriedly gave chase. Having finally found Michonne, he was determined not to let this opportunity slip by.

Following Michonne's footsteps, the governor chased after her for a distance.

However, after turning a corner, the governor stopped.

The sound of Michonne's footsteps faded away, and she could no longer be seen ahead, as if she had suddenly vanished.

The governor's cheek twitched twice. He angrily raised his hand and fired, "Michonne, you fucking come out here."

After shouting, the governor fell silent.

The echoing gunfire in the passageway jolted his ears, causing a slight ringing. He leaned against the wall to catch his breath.

His subordinates then caught up.

It took the governor a while to calm down his turbulent emotions.

"Keep looking ahead; they must have a secret passage that allows them to move around in and out of the prison."

After thinking it over, the governor understood the reason and said with a softened expression.

The subordinates nodded in agreement.

As if he had discovered something, the governor paused and turned to look at his subordinates.

His expression was somewhat frightened as he scanned the crowd, once, twice.

This puzzled his subordinates.

The governor's hoarse voice rang out: "How come we only have eighteen people left?"

When they first entered the prison, the core members and their subordinates numbered close to thirty.

Aside from the two who were killed by Michonne in the previous encounter, there couldn't possibly be only these few people.

Moreover, those who had been scattered to search for people would undoubtedly come over after hearing the gunshots.

Surprisingly, upon closer inspection, several people were missing.

The governor frowned and asked again, "Hasn't Andrea and the others arrived yet?"

Logically speaking, after searching in the prison for so long, even if Andrea and the others crawled, they shouldn't still be missing by now.

A thought suddenly struck the governor; he didn't know why, but he suddenly remembered the mole from Woodbury.

He initially thought the mole would be impossible to catch, but to his surprise, not only was the mole caught, but he was also executed.

This is very unusual. Michonne, as one of them, was captured for so long, yet the other side still came knocking on their door looking for their companion. It makes no sense that this companion was captured, and the other side even knew her exact location, yet they didn't rescue her.

Then there's only one possibility: the person who was executed wasn't the mole.

In this short period of time, the governor has figured out many things.

Without a doubt, the mole, the mole who killed indiscriminately at Woodbury, is now in the recruit training camp, with Andrea and the others.

Those who went missing were clearly also the work of the other party.

What the governor didn't expect was how the other side could kill so many people so easily, and do it while avoiding the recruits' line of sight.

"There's a mole among those new recruits. When you see them later, be on your guard; they're suspicious."
