Milton's companions didn't give him a friendly look either; without exception, they all thought he was a bit of a coward.
Milton had no choice but to sit back in his previous spot and continue idly observing his surroundings.
His gaze couldn't help but fall on the gun beside him, and then on the gun in his companion's hand.
They were all carrying guns? Why didn't they take them out earlier?
The question lingered in his mind for a moment before being resolved. He knew that even someone as unintelligent as his companion understood what he should and shouldn't do.
Milton turned his head and looked at the surrounding woods swaying in the wind, lost in thought.
"Hey, everyone's here."
Regaining her composure, Andrea turned around and saw Carol, managing a weak smile.
"What's wrong? Are you nervous?" Carol asked, noticing Andrea's pale face.
"Yes, a little," Andrea nodded. "I'm worried that doing this might really get them out of Woodbury, this fairytale town."
"sure."
Carol offered Andrea comfort at the right moment, reaching out to pat Andrea's shoulder, her eyes crinkling into a smile, "You are Andrea, after all."
"The only woman in Yellowstone who dared to stand up to Caesar."
Andrea rolled her eyes at Carol, but couldn't help but chuckle. "Yeah, going head-to-head with Caesar, it makes me so angry just thinking about it. I was so exhausted from being punished for a while."
"You seem pretty happy, huh? You were so tired, didn't you say you wanted to find a man to relax with?"
"Hey! Carol—"
Carol easily diverted Andrea's attention and greatly relieved her tension and anxiety.
The two women's somewhat private conversation, like best friends, drifted through the room. They slowly left the room and headed to a secluded spot in Woodbury.
With a creak, the old wooden door was pushed open.
Andrea could see the surroundings clearly: several candles were lit, creating a circular space of light in the otherwise dark room.
"Hello, Andrea."
Andrea responded with a smile to each of them.
There were four people inside, each sitting or standing in one corner of the room. They all looked tense, with a hint of anxiety in their eyes.
They were among the best of the new recruits at Woodbury and were chosen by the governor to be squad leaders to help manage the other recruits.
Thanks to solving the murder case, Andrea's prestige was much higher than the governor's, which is why the group was willing to listen to what Andrea had to say.
Andrea and Carol went inside, closed the door, and Andrea walked straight toward the center of the room with a determined expression.
As for Carol, she walked backwards, her figure seemingly swallowed by darkness, making it impossible to see where she was.
The other four people's eyes were focused on Andrea.
"Hello everyone, I'm here to reveal something to you."
The four exchanged glances, a vague guess forming in their minds. One of them spoke first: "You go first."
"Woodbury is a cannibalistic community. The reason why so many people can enjoy such abundant resources and not go hungry without producing anything is because the governor is a predator."
"You lead your men to kill and plunder their resources to feed yourselves. Every food you eat is stained with the blood of other humans."
Upon hearing this, everyone else felt nauseous and uncomfortable to varying degrees.
Not for any other reason than the empathy that has not disappeared from my heart.
Without knowing it, or rather, deliberately refusing to believe it, they continued to eat their own kind.
"Ha, so what? Everyone ate it, we're all executioners. We've already eaten it, do you want to kill us to pay off those people's debts?" In the dim light, a man stood up with a ferocious expression, staring directly at Andrea.
Andrea shook her head and said calmly, "I'm just telling you the truth, not condemning you. You have profited, but killing you would not help and would be meaningless."
"Let me be frank, I come from Yellowstone, a large community of over a thousand people, and my purpose in coming to Woodbury is to recruit you."
"What?" The four of them stared in disbelief, looking at Andrea with surprise and suspicion. She was a traitor.
"That's right, I came to Woodbury on a mission, but are you really from Woodbury?" Andrea asked with a smirk.
"The real Woodbury people are the governor and his gunmen, who wantonly slaughter humans, and every other community wants to kill the governor."
"As for you, you are just the governor's pets. Now that resources are scarce, the governor is about to abandon you. Haven't you noticed? Food is becoming scarce, and there is forced conscription. These are all things."
The four of them racked their brains, and the suspicion in their eyes gradually disappeared.
It wasn't for any other reason than that Andrea was telling the truth: every resident had been feeling intensely insecure lately, fearing they would be thrown out of Woodbury the next day.
To make someone firmly believe in something, you need to awaken the seeds of belief that they already have, and then connect the two.
The governor's exploitation of the residents was all too obvious.
The four hesitated for a moment, then one of them asked, "What kind of community is Yellowstone? Why would they want me—someone like us who has no ability?"
After they began military training, they came into contact with and fought the walkers, and realized that the walkers were not the weak creatures they had imagined; they were monsters that knew no fatigue and no retreat.
Moreover, they carry viruses, and scratches or bites will turn you into one of their kind.
Their skills from peacetime are useless now, and even their most basic survival abilities are pitifully weak. They can't imagine why they would be recruited.
Andrea's smile revealed sincerity. "Humanity is the most precious resource in the apocalypse. Every person has their use. These are Caesar's words. He was the one who built Yellowstone."
,
After Andrea's series of persuasive words, the four people accepted.
"So, when will we join Yellowstone?"
"And shouldn't we kill the governor? What if he comes after us?" one of the ruthless men asked.
"What about our families and other people? Can we take them with us?"
'
"1
The four of them were like a million questions, constantly asking themselves.
Andrea answered all the questions she could and told them to go back and inform someone they could trust, and to keep it highly confidential.
After hearing this, the four of them could hardly hide their smiles.
Being able to move into a community like Yellowstone must be much better than life in Woodbury.
"Alright, now that we've reached a consensus, let's go outside."
After blowing out the candles, they opened the door and the four of them were about to go out.
Andrea suddenly called out to them, "Wait a minute."
"What's wrong?" they asked, turning around.
Andrea's eyes were icy cold, but a smirk played on her lips. "Just a reminder, those who can't keep secrets will die."
