The Walking Dead: Starting as a Cowboy
Chapter 188 Negotiation
Chapter 188 Negotiation (1)
The two of them, singing in unison, immediately whetted the appetites of the people hiding in the bushes.
Saliva was flowing rapidly, and my stomach started to cramp slightly; I was craving food terribly.
Daryl glanced at the two of them, shook his head, and buried himself in his food, stuffing large mouthfuls of meat into his mouth, eating with great relish.
After eating for a while, Caesar checked the time and said softly, "Everyone be careful, the governor is coming."
""
Sure enough, not long after, an arrow was shot out and struck a tree trunk not far away in an instant, the tail of the arrow trembling slightly.
This shows how much force was used.
The moment they heard the sound of arrows being shot, Mor, Daryl, and the others stood up at the same time. They grabbed the various weapons that were already at hand and immediately opened fire.
Bullets and arrows flew over, and the bushes and trees in that area suffered, being cleared away in an instant.
A whiff of gunpowder wafted over, and Caesar dusted himself off and stood up.
With a huge axe slung over his shoulder, Caesar strode toward the tree trunk that had just been struck by the arrow.
"Go and take a look over there."
Without a word, Daryl nocked an arrow and, together with Mor, charged forward.
Caesar didn't pay much attention to the situation there.
The governor wasn't stupid; he knew that shooting arrows first would attract attention and artillery fire. His men were already running away the moment the arrows were fired; they certainly wouldn't stand there waiting to be attacked.
Pull out the arrow; there's a letter at the end of it.
It had the time, place, and the words "Governor" and "Woodbury" written on it, along with the word "negotiation".
Caesar gave a mocking laugh. "Trying to put on an act with me, huh?"
Daryl and Moore returned after their search. Daryl said, "We found some traces there, but no one."
"We only searched that area; we didn't search any other places," Moore added.
Caesar casually handed them the letter, "It doesn't matter if we can't find it."
Under the gaze of the crowd, Caesar walked forward, stepped outside the canopy, closed his eyes, and twitched his ears slightly.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
When Caesar focused all his attention on hearing, his hearing was instantly amplified several times, allowing him to clearly hear all sorts of tiny sounds within a radius of tens of meters.
Including some footsteps.
The governor leaned against a large tree, holding a gun in one hand, looking at Caesar in the clearing with a puzzled expression.
"What is he doing?"
I could hear my subordinates' voices in my ear.
The governor frowned, his gaze fixed on Caesar, his head and eyes.
Unexpectedly, Caesar suddenly opened his eyes and stared straight at him.
He even had a smile on his face, as if to say, "I've got you."
The governor was startled and tightened his grip on his pistol, but Caesar turned his head away as if the eye contact he had just made was his imagination.
Caesar stood in the open space with his arms outstretched.
"Governor, I'm not in the mood for playing house with you. You suddenly shot an arrow and told me the time and place."
"What's so special about that? Heh."
"If you want to make a deal, then show some sincerity. Tell me, what do you want to do?"
"You dared to shoot arrows at us just now, so we have every reason to attack Woodbury directly."
"Do you think Woodbury's limited firepower can stop us?"
"I'm sure your Woodbury community is big enough to satisfy our appetites."
Moore grinned wickedly and said hoarsely, "We can still snatch two women to take back and play with."
"The governor's woman, that should be quite fun."
Moore's words were tantamount to a direct slap in the governor's face. Although the governor did not turn around, he could feel several gazes on his back, gazes as scorching as the blazing sun.
After waiting a moment, Caesar was about to walk back to the sky when he heard a rustling sound coming from the woods.
The governor, Milton, and others came into view.
The governor's expression was not good, and he said coldly, "I've arrived."
Caesar's lips curled into a smile. "Governor, my friend, what do you need?"
The governor did not answer, but looked around anxiously, avoiding Caesar's question, "We need a negotiation."
"Oh~" Caesar's smile deepened. "What negotiations?"
"For you, there are only benefits, no drawbacks."
The governor took a deep breath and spoke slowly.
"it is good."
Since the governor had said so, Caesar had no reason to refuse and accepted without hesitation.
The governor had assumed Caesar would be difficult to deal with after his recent actions, but to his surprise, Caesar readily agreed. He paused for a moment, then asked, "Time and place?"
"I'll take care of it." Caesar patted his chest. "Tomorrow afternoon, Dorrington."
Dorrington is a village in the surrounding area that was famous for its pretzel before the apocalypse, but after the apocalypse, the village was deserted.
I don't know if they all died out or migrated away.
The town was quiet and there weren't many zombies around, making it a good place for negotiations.
"Alright, you can leave now."
Caesar waved his hand dismissively, as if to shoo him away.
Turning around, Caesar and Daryl and the others sat down to continue eating meat.
The aroma of roasted meat filled the air, and even the governor couldn't help but stop for a moment.
Is that meat fresh?
The governor glanced at the table; fresh fruit and vegetables—
These are all good things.
Greed welled up in the governor's eyes; such freshness meant there was a community nearby skilled in farming and animal husbandry.
It is still used for foreign trade, which means that their reserves are very large.
Each of these things was a temptation for him.
However, he still wanted to deal with his enemies first.
After the governor left, Moore stopped eating. "The governor's eyes told me he had his eye on us."
Daryl also spoke up, which was rare for him: "Ignoring the risks and being too greedy, he wouldn't have lived long if he hadn't met us."
"There are no 'ifs'," Caesar said. "He covets us, but we covet Woodbury just as much."
He glanced in the direction the governor had left, then became engrossed in eating meat, quickly devouring his food.
A day passed in the blink of an eye.
The town of Dorrington is quiet and peaceful.
Caesar and his men arrived first in their armored vehicles and parked around a house where several zombie corpses lay on the ground.
The combatants stood scattered, their standard automatic rifles already loaded, guarding the house.
Daryl and Moore were also standing outside, Moore with his arms crossed and a cigarette dangling from his mouth.
Not long after they started smoking, the roar of an engine came from over.
"They're here." Moore grabbed the cigarette butt, took a deep drag, tossed it aside, and crushed it with his foot.
The governor's SUV was parked in front, and Moore and Daryl quickly stepped forward.
The governor opened the car door, got out, and frowned when he saw Moore and Daryl standing in front of him. "Where's your boss?"
"I'm waiting for you inside," Moore shrugged.
The governor glanced at the houses next door, strode towards them, and then heard arguing behind him.
"You can't go in, you all stay outside and behave yourselves."
