Chapter 22 The Five Primordial Elements

Xuanhuang attempted to divide the various Great Daos into two categories, which were opposite to each other, but this quickly failed.

Yin and Yang are not simply opposites. The same is true of the Great Dao. The two Great Daos may appear to be mutually opposed and clearly distinct.

For example, the Great Way of Life and the Great Way of Death, but aren't these two great ways also one? You are in me, and I am in you.

There is life without death, and there is death without life. The two are interdependent.

Even the principle of Yin and Yang is like this: there is Yang within Yin and Yin within Yang; Yin reaches its extreme and Yang is born; Yang reaches its extreme and Yin is born.

As Xuanhuang thought this, yet another Great Dao involuntarily surfaced in his mind.

This great principle is Tai Chi!

The Way of Tai Chi encompasses the Way of Yin and Yang, and can even be seen as a higher level of the Way than the Way of Yin and Yang.

Taiji gives rise to Yin and Yang, which are the principles of Yin and Yang, which originate from the principles of Taiji.

So what is Tai Chi itself? Yin and Yang are the two polarities, while Tai Chi is one. One can be called the Way.

Is Tai Chi the Tao itself? Is Tai Chi the original, fundamental Tao?

Xuanhuang shook his head again. Although Taiji is higher than Yin and Yang, it should not be the highest level of Dao.

However, even the One is not the entirety of the Tao.

At least, according to Xuanhuang's knowledge, the Way of Taiji belongs to one of the Five Primordial Elements, alongside Taisu, Taishi, Taichu, and Taiyi.

The Five Tai Dao evolves sequentially, from Taiyi to Taichu, Taichu to Taishi, Taishi to Taisu, and Taisu to Taiji.

These five paths are ranked in order of precedence, but not in terms of superiority or inferiority. What is truly superior to the five paths is the Path of Limitlessness.

If Taiji is one, then Wuji is zero. Wuji is the true beginning of the Tao.

"Is the Way of Wuji the true Great Way?" Xuanhuang took a deep breath and murmured to himself.

He seemed to have finally grasped a thread, the thread of seeking the Tao.

At first, he only understood the Way of Yi Wood, but later he comprehended the Way of the Five Elements and many other great principles.

But with so many great principles in the world, how long would it take him to comprehend them all?

The Great Way is not limited to just three thousand!

Instead, it is billions upon billions, endless.

Perhaps in the beginning there were only three thousand paths, but just like a big tree, the more it grows, the more branches it has.

Each of these branches represents a path. When this great tree grows lush and verdant, the paths it gives rise to will be countless.

For example, take a river. This river branches into three thousand tributaries. These three thousand tributaries are the original three thousand great paths. But the tributaries branch into more and more streams, which in turn divide into countless rivers and countless kinds of paths.

Therefore, Xuanhuang separated a lineage from these countless Daos. It follows the principle of "Wuji gives rise to Taiji, Taiji gives rise to Yin and Yang, Yin and Yang give rise to the Four Symbols, and the Four Symbols give rise to the Five Elements".

By going against the grain step by step, perhaps he can find the true path!

In other words, these kinds of Great Daos will be the core of his Xuanhuang Great Dao.

Once these several Great Daos are perfected, his Xuanhuang Great Dao will also be complete.

As for the other paths, they are merely fruits that naturally grow on the tree of the Xuanhuang Great Dao during this process.

"From the Five Elements arise the Four Symbols, from the Four Symbols arise Yin and Yang, from Yin and Yang arise Taiji, from Taiji arise Wuji..."

Xuanhuang continued to calculate and soon roughly figured it out. If he could complete the third step and reverse the Taiji from Yin and Yang, it would probably be enough for him to attain Hunyuan.

This is a completely different way of attaining enlightenment from the primordial world as I know it.

Indeed, there are more than three ways to attain enlightenment!

It's no wonder, though, since the method of attaining enlightenment in the primordial world was proposed by Hongjun, who hoped that everyone could attain enlightenment and become saints.

To become a sage of the Heavenly Way and serve the Heavenly Way.

However, the method of enlightenment that Xuanhuang deduced was not for becoming a saint, but for the ultimate Great Dao.

This is the method of proving the Way in Tao.

Reverse the Great Dao!

Attaining sainthood through enlightenment, or even attaining primordial enlightenment and becoming a Primordial Golden Immortal, is merely one step in the process.

Xuanhuang gradually traveled westward, and on this day, he arrived at a great mountain.

The area around this mountain is clearly different; in other places, the innate spiritual energy is mixed with acquired spiritual energy, and it is not pure.

The spiritual energy here is all innate spiritual energy, and it is extremely rich, no less than any blessed land in the primordial wilderness.

In the West, only the brothers Jieyin and Zhunti could have such a temple.

This is Mount Sumeru.

Of all the earth's spiritual veins in the West, this is probably the only one that hasn't been completely destroyed.

Xuanhuang looked at the mountain before him, and many runes were reflected in his eyes.

It reflects a grand formation that encircles the entire mountain.

This is the protective array of Mount Sumeru, extremely powerful. Of course, it cannot possibly withstand Xuanhuang.

It's only okay to bully some kids.

If they really wanted to attack, Xuanhuang could find the weakness of this great formation in just a few moves and destroy it.

After all, his clone, who studied formations with Fuxi, has made considerable progress over the years.

He can now be considered a master of formations.

However, even if Xuanhuang had ten times the courage, he wouldn't dare to do that.

The great formation set up by Jieyin and Zhunti is connected to the spiritual veins beneath Mount Sumeru.

In other words, we all prosper together, and we all suffer together.

Breaking through the great formation would be tantamount to destroying the last remaining spiritual vein of the western land.

By then, the consequences could be severe.

Completely destroying the spiritual veins of a region would likely incur divine retribution.

Therefore, Xuanhuang shook his head and simply transmitted his voice into the room, saying, "I am Xuanhuang, and I have taken the liberty of visiting you today. I would like to ask you two fellow Daoists to come out and meet me."

In Mount Sumeru, Jieyin and Zhunti, who were meditating and cultivating under a Bodhi tree, were taken aback when they heard Xuanhuang's voice.

Dark yellow?

Who is this? Do they know each other? However, Xuanhuang's method of transmitting sound was truly ingenious, directly transmitting into the great formation without triggering it, which shows how powerful it was.

Therefore, although Jieyin and Zhunti were awakened, they were not furious, knowing that this was a powerful fellow practitioner who was no less capable than themselves.

Jieyin's mind stirred, and he began to calculate, but Zhunti was even faster than him.

Suddenly, Zhunti exclaimed in surprise, "So it's this person! He's also transformed into human form?"

It turns out that both Zhunti and Xuanhuang are among the ten great spiritual roots, and their destinies are somehow connected.

Therefore, he was able to calculate faster.

Having already learned of Xuanhuang's identity, they quickly relayed Xuanhuang's information to Jieyin.

Jieyin listened, nodded, and said, "In that case, please invite him in."

Zhunti nodded as well.

Both brothers stood up. Zhunti reached out and grabbed, and the Bodhi tree transformed into a branch that landed in his hand.

This Bodhi tree was transformed from the Seven Treasures Tree, his treasure for attaining enlightenment. And the Seven Treasures Tree itself was a treasure forged from a branch of his original body.

The two brothers moved swiftly, leaving Mount Sumeru and arriving before Xuanhuang.
