Chapter 55 Tony the Blacksmith
"What else can we do?" Tony put down the blueprints, took the parts that Steve had finished hammering, and started hammering them again.
Steve is strong, but not precise.
"To be honest, Steve, I feel like I'm back in the cave when the Ten Rings kidnapped me."
"Fuck, should I be thankful I didn't get a hole in my chest this time?!"
Steve shook his head helplessly. "Let's not talk about this, Tony. We should come up with an escape plan."
"With the current conditions, what kind of combat suit can you build? MK1? I think if Baldy sees us building that thing, he'll die even faster."
"Wait!" Tony replied with a single word, without stopping his work.
"What are you waiting for?"
"Wait until that little bug finds Lin Yi, or until I finish making this."
"Lin Yi? You have that much confidence in him?" Steve was taken aback.
Tony gave him a strange look: "What nonsense are you talking about? Didn't you see him fighting Thanos? Where were you looking then?"
"That's not what I meant." Steve subconsciously looked up. Even through the massive wreckage of Ant-Man, he knew Carol was crouching right outside. "I meant, even Carol is being controlled, what if Lin Yi is too..."
If Lin Yi is also controlled, then isn't there absolutely no hope left?
"Since you're worried, then hurry up and make this thing!" Tony squinted, took out his instruments to measure the precision of the parts in his hand, and put them away with satisfaction.
"Weren't you building a suit?" Steve said, then realized what Tony was up to.
"Theoretically speaking, this is part of the suit."
"Don't slack off, Steve, we're still missing two parts, keep hammering!"
……
Fifty kilometers away, high in the sky, Lin Yi watched Tony hammering and tinkering, seemingly enjoying himself.
So, when Wade said "hitting the brick," he meant it literally?
He also recognized the guy next to him who was covered in flames—the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four.
It's kind of funny. Who would have thought that one day, the hot-tempered Thunderbolt would sit there obediently as a human heater?
As his gaze swept around, he also spotted Cassandra, who was wearing Tony's MK85 suit and having a great time.
Carol, her eyes bloodshot, was crouching on top of Ant-Man's head.
Their line of sight extended further, and their perception expanded to a radius of thousands of kilometers, but they found no trace of any personnel from the Time Mutation Management Bureau.
That's good, that's some good news.
"Hey! Superman from the East, it's time for a get-together! Come down and discuss the plan, shall we? Hey? Where is everyone?" Wade's loud shout came from the ground.
Half an hour ago, Scarface Strange led them back to this void.
This can be considered a survivor base, a gathering place for all sorts of random people who were thrown in by the Time Management Bureau.
Amazing... Erica, I wonder if she's the sexy white-bearded one from Daywalker, and there's also someone called Gambit, and even X23, that little wolf girl who's somewhat like Wolverine's daughter.
Lin Yi wasn't very interested in these people. After a brief exchange, he flew up into the clouds to survey the situation.
"Is this reliable?" The card master asked skeptically, twirling a card in his hand.
Logan sat to the side, silently chugging whiskey, glancing at Laura every now and then.
Lin Yi silently floated down from the sky.
"Wow, thank goodness, I thought you ran away." Wade patted his chest exaggeratedly. "Listen, our original plan was to make a helmet that could limit Cassandra's abilities, but it's going to be worn on the Red Tank's head."
"Bad news, Juggernaut is now working for Baldy, so we need a new plan to get the helmets over here..."
"You can't take the Red Tank's helmet off," Gambit interrupted Wade. "Unless you chop his head off too."
Wade shrugged: "Then let's just cut it!"
"A very good plan." Lin Yi interrupted the others, and their gazes focused on him.
"But I have an even better plan."
"See, I told you so!" Wade rubbed his hands excitedly. "Superman has a super brain! Although they never let them use it in the movies... Tell me, buddy, I can't wait."
"The plan is," Lin Yi said succinctly, "you guys wait here quietly, I'll go bring Tony back, and then we'll leave!"
As he spoke, Lin Yi's figure flickered and he disappeared from the spot.
A group of people stood there, stunned.
"Is he invisible?" Wade looked around.
"What kind of plan is this?"
"What do we do now? Should we go over there too?"
……
Carol, with her crimson eyes, floated in through Ant-Man's eye sockets.
His sharp gaze swept over the three of them, and he said in a cold voice, "It's time for a break."
when!
Tony brought down the final hammer blow, put the part in his pocket, and asked, "Should I say thank you?"
Carroll, who was under control, remained expressionless as she led the three people away from the work area and into a small room.
The room had a large window, letting in sunlight; clearly, Kadra wasn't worried about them escaping. It's just unclear what part of Ant-Man this room represented.
Three dishes of food were laid out on the table.
"Oh! Today's food is hamburgers?" Tony picked one up, smelled it, and took a bite. "They actually taste pretty good."
Tony sat down on the sofa with a hamburger in hand, relaxing his aching muscles.
"Don't look so serious, Captain. Look at Johnny." Johnny casually picked up his hamburger and ate it, while Steve was the only one of the three with a serious expression.
"We've already wasted three days here, Tony," Steve couldn't help but say.
Tony finished the last bite of his burger, pulled out parts from his pocket, and started assembling: "So what? Rushing won't help, Rogers."
"Tony!" Steve's tone became more serious, his face full of worry. Tony didn't bother to look at him, knowing that this guy was about to start rambling on about nothing.
"Right now, the entire world is covered in black and purple patterns, and we're making no progress. Lin Yi's situation is unclear; have you considered what will happen if Wade can't find him?"
Being stuck here for three days made Steve increasingly anxious.
"Those people who call themselves the Time Administration used a stick to poke us out of the quantum realm, and we don't even know what point in time we are now."
"We don't even know if our time is synchronized with Earth! We can't afford to be delayed, Tony."
"Alright, alright!" Tony interrupted Steve with a headache, a surge of anger rising within him. "You think I'm not worried? What do you want to do? Go out and fight Cassandra now, then have Carol tear you in half, and I'll dig a hole and bury you?"
What can he do? Is he the one who caused all of this?
"Hey! Hey! Don't fight." Johnny quickly stepped between the two. "Wait a little longer, be patient! I have some friends who came back looking for me after they realized I was missing... I think they will."
He himself didn't believe that; his comrades probably all thought he was dead. After all, it wasn't like they hadn't had comrades who reached Cassandra's location before, but those comrades were all...
