Chapter 148 Application from a Different Race

"Hmm..." Tony stroked his chin, organizing his thoughts, "Something's happened in our universe recently. It seems to be developing along certain trajectories of another universe of mine."

"Huh? Be more specific." Lin Yi subconsciously glanced at the shield that hadn't spoken yet. Why did it feel like these two were expressing the same thing?

"There are some alien races... or as we would say, extraterrestrials. Some alien races have come to Earth seeking help... well, not exactly seeking help. They have submitted an application hoping that we will grant them asylum and allow some of their people who have not been infected by the cosmic virus to live on Earth temporarily."

"Yes, yes, that's what I was just saying!" Shield suddenly interjected, immediately attracting Tony's attention.

Tony raised an eyebrow, his gaze shifting to the shield on the table, a hint of inquiry flashing in his eyes. "Wow, what's this new gadget?" He stood up and took two steps forward, examining the shield closely. "A souvenir you brought back from another universe? A children's educational mechanical toy?"

Tony was so busy communicating with Lin Yi that he didn't even notice the new little thing that had appeared.

"You're the one who's a child's toy! Little Mustache, do you want to try Shield Daddy's laser cannon?!" Shield Daddy jumped up in anger, his forelimbs quickly transforming into small cannons and aiming at Tony.

Almost instantly, Tony's suit's defense system activated automatically. In less than a second, MK97 was re-equipped, and the defense system manipulated his arms to quickly rise, the palm cannons lighting up and locking onto the shield.

"Wow, Lin, you've got quite a temper, haven't you!" Tony's teasing voice came through the visor. He waved his hand to reclaim control of the suit, which quickly transformed back into its original shape and flowed back into the reactor.

This thing was brought back by Lin Yi, and this is Lin Yi's stronghold. This little gadget is just for show. If a real fight breaks out, Tony doesn't believe Lin Yi will just sit idly by and watch his stronghold be destroyed.

Lin Yi looked at Tony and sighed, "If you don't provoke him, everything will be fine, right?"

Tony's mouth!

"Let me formally introduce this. This is a shield, a type of mechanical lifeform." As he spoke, Lin Yi glanced at the shield. It seemed the shield was unusually sensitive to the word "toy"? He didn't remember it being this irritable before.

"Don't let its small size fool you; it stores the technological data of an entire mechanical life-bearing planet. I think you two will be exchanging ideas quite frequently in the future..."

The shield's life source is a humanoid spark, his half-sister... well, he still can't quite accept this explanation.

But the shield does indeed contain technology from a certain planet.

"Oh?" Tony's eyes lit up upon hearing this. Lin Yi's words had piqued his curiosity about the unknown technology, and he almost immediately wanted to communicate with the shield, but remembering that he had other important matters to attend to, he had to suppress the thought for the time being.

"We can talk about that later. Let's get down to business first. Lin, what's your opinion on the alien race's asylum application? Should we approve it?"

As Tony spoke, he walked towards Lin Yi. He raised his hand, and nanoparticles emerged from his wrist, forming a small screen displaying some data.

Seeing that Tony was no longer paying attention to him, Shield cursed a couple of times, put away his cannon, and went to the side to continue surfing the internet.

Lin Yi took the screen in surprise: "What the hell do I have decision-making power over? The Black Palace hasn't collapsed yet, has it? Do you think they'd allow you to make this kind of decision on your own?"

Tony shrugged, his expression turning serious: "According to you, the universe is in such a mess right now, if we still need those clueless people to manage things, then I think we might as well just shut down the cosmic virus isolation device now and all go our separate ways."

"That's decisive enough..." Lin Yi nodded in agreement. "That's true. Those people in the Black Palace... never mind, let's not talk about them. So, are you worried about those aliens... other races, whether they're here to wreak havoc on Blue Star? Or do you have some other intention?"

"That's certainly part of what we're considering." Tony pointed to the information on the screen. "Their technology is quite advanced, and their social structure is vastly different from ours, so accepting them would be risky. And on the other hand..." Tony scratched his chin again, "The current situation in our universe is increasingly overlapping with the development trajectory of my other universe. I just mentioned that, and I'm worried about our future direction..."

"Are you worried about those beings with special vision or those who are abnormal?" Lin Yi pointed it out directly.

"That's right." Tony's tone became more formal and lower as he walked to the window and looked out at the lush forest.

"I don't want to see you wandering around our universe one day with that horrible magic circle in your hand. Okay... what I really meant was that I'm also quite worried about collisions happening in our universe, causing strange things to pop out everywhere. Even Morgan and Pepper..." Tony irritably tapped the windowsill.

"Okay, I admit I'm worrying a bit too much, maybe even a little scared, but I have a feeling we're really heading down the same old path as another universe..."

Lin Yi paused for two seconds, then understood Tony's somewhat confused words.

He was afraid that this universe would be like the old Tony universe, with the same future scenarios, and he might even have thought of Pepper's sacrifice in another universe, thus worrying about Pepper in this universe.

What he was truly worried about wasn't how the alien races would live on Earth, whether they could integrate, or what impact they would have on the Earthlings. His concern was the highly overlapping cosmic paths; he had witnessed the devastation of that universe, and he didn't know how to resist. He trusted Lin Yi, but Lin Yi was also constantly traveling between different universes. What if Lin Yi wasn't here one day? Right?

After thinking for a moment and organizing his thoughts, Lin Yi spoke again: "You're overthinking it, Tony."

"I can tell you definitively that during my trip to the Grandmaster's game universe, I dealt with two of the entities that were actually in the vision system, and they are not as powerful as we imagined..."

Tony whirled around. "Are you sure?"

Lin Yi rolled her eyes: "Isn't that obvious! How could I not be sure when I made it myself?"

"But don't be too optimistic, because the vision itself is more like a position; once one is dealt with, another will take its place. I originally planned to tell you all this in a couple of days, but I didn't expect you to come so soon."

"Alright, let me organize the current intelligence, and we'll have a proper discussion tomorrow... no, the day after tomorrow."

"As for the application from this alien race you mentioned... I remember the cosmic virus isolation devices were already mass-produced, weren't they? And doesn't Carol often use isolation devices to help those alien races? How could there be such an application?"
