Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!

Chapter 439 The Coronation Ceremony of the Saintess

Augustus led her through the corridor, around several corners, and stopped in front of a door.

The door was made of wood, light brown in color, with carved patterns on the doorknob.

He pushed open the door and stepped aside.

"Your Holiness, this is your room."

Anli walked in and froze.

The room was large, with a thick wool carpet on the floor that felt soft underfoot.

The bed was also very large, with carved flowers on the headboard, light pink sheets, and small flowers embroidered on the quilt.

There was a dressing table by the window, with various bottles and jars, combs, mirrors, hair clips, and hair ties on it.

There was a wardrobe in the corner, the door was open, and several dresses were hanging inside, and they were similar in size to her, so they were obviously custom-made.

Outside the window, you can see the temple square, with its gray stone slabs, spacious and quiet.

Anli walked over and lay down on the bed.

The mattress was very soft, and my body sank into it. The fabric of the blanket was smooth and felt cool against my face.

She hugged the blanket, rolled around on the bed, and let out a comfortable moan.

Augustus stood at the door, watching her retreating figure, and a slight movement of his lips.

"Your Majesty, please rest. Your humble servant will come to fetch you tomorrow morning."

Anli didn't answer, burying her face in the blanket and giving a muffled "hmm".

Augustus closed the door, and the sound of his footsteps faded into the distance.

The next morning, Anli was still dreaming. In her dream, she was eating ice cream, a big bowl of it with all sorts of flavors.

There was a knock on the door. She opened her eyes, and sunlight streamed in through the window, falling on the foot of the bed.

She rubbed her eyes and sat up.

"Your Holiness, are you awake? Would you like a maid to attend to you?" Augustus's voice came from outside the door.

"I'm awake. I can do it myself." Anli yawned, climbed out of bed, and walked to the dressing table.

Her hair was messy and there were red marks on her face from the pillow.

She picked up a comb and started braiding her hair, her hands moving haphazardly, and it took her two attempts to finish.

After washing up, she opened the wardrobe and picked out a light blue dress to put on.

The fabric of the skirt is very soft and feels comfortable against the skin.

She looked at herself in the mirror, twirled around, her skirt billowing, and she was very pleased with herself.

She opened the door, and Augustus stood there, wearing a brand-new white robe and a silver amulet around his neck.

He bowed to Anli.

"Your Holiness, please have breakfast first."

Anli followed him to a small restaurant where bread, milk, fruit, and fried eggs were laid out on the table.

She sat down, picked up a piece of bread, and took a bite.

The bread was freshly baked, with a crispy crust and a soft interior.

She took a sip of milk; it was warm and sweetened.

After a sumptuous breakfast, Augustus led her out of the temple and into the square.

Anli paused for a moment.

The plaza was filled with goblins, a dark mass stretching from the temple entrance to the far end of the plaza.

At the front were dozens of bishops dressed in robes of various colors, including red, blue, green, and purple, with silver badges pinned to their chests.

Behind them were hundreds of priests in white robes, and behind them were thousands of believers dressed in all sorts of clothes—workers, farmers, merchants, women, and children.

No one spoke, and no one moved.

They stood there, staring at Anri with reverence.

Several cameras were set up around the square, their lenses pointed at the crowd.

Those are television cameras, broadcasting live to the entire world.

Anli didn't know what those machines were, but she could feel countless eyes watching her, not just those in the square, but also those in places she couldn't see.

Her back was sweating, her legs were a little weak, and her fingers were clenched tightly on the hem of her skirt. She didn't know what to do.

She had never seen so many people before, nor had she ever been watched by so many people.

Even if it's just a bunch of little goblins.

Augustus said softly.

"Your Holiness, please do not be nervous. They are your most loyal followers. They have come to pay homage to your holy countenance."

Anli took a deep breath and took a step forward.

They took small steps, their heels clicking crisply on the stone slabs.

She took another step, and then another.

She took each step steadily, but her heart was beating very fast.

Augustus stood beside her, raising his hands.

The people in the square knelt down in unison, their foreheads pressed against the stone slabs, their movements perfectly synchronized, as if they were all moving as one person.

"Blessed by the Supreme God, a saintly maiden has descended upon the world. From this day forward, Lady Anri will represent the Supreme God, comforting all beings and guiding them on their path!"

Augustus's voice was loud and clear, echoing across the square.

Anli stood in the center of the square, looking at the kneeling goblins, feeling very flustered.

She wasn't a saintess at all; she was just a little girl from Graystone City. How did she become a saintess so inexplicably?

But she couldn't panic, couldn't back down, and couldn't let anyone see her unease.

She straightened her back, raised her chin, and glanced at the kneeling goblins.

Augustus took a white-gold robe from the servant beside him and draped it over Anri's shoulders.

The robe was light, the fabric was smooth, and the edges were embroidered with gold patterns.

He then took the crown and placed it on Anli's head.

The silver crown was not large, but it was extremely exquisite, with several light blue gemstones set on it, and it weighed heavily on the head.

Finally, he took a scepter and handed it to Anli.

The scepter is silver, with intricate divine patterns engraved on its shaft, and a golden gemstone set at its top.

Augustus stepped back and bowed deeply. "Greetings, Your Highness."

The crowd in the square shouted in unison.

"Greetings, Your Highness!"

The sounds came like a tidal wave, one after another, each higher than the last.

Anli stood in the middle of the tide, holding the scepter, her palms sweating.

Her face was a little stiff, but she managed to keep from losing her composure.

Her eyes swept over the goblins, from the bishops in the front row to the believers in the back, from the cameras on the left to the temple tower on the right.

After a while, seeing that everyone was still kneeling, Anli suddenly realized what was going on.

"Get up, everyone."

Her voice was soft, like a gentle breeze brushing against her cheek.

The goblins then stood up.

As Augustus rose, he turned slightly to the side, his lips barely moving, the sound squeezed out from his throat.

"Your Highness, please say a few words of encouragement to the believers."

His tone was respectful, but it made Anli feel anxious.

It's already quite an achievement to sit here without losing composure, let alone speak? What is there to say?

Her mind went blank; she was completely unprepared to speak.

She had never spoken in front of so many people before, with thousands of eyes staring at her, and countless cameras, not to mention how many goblins were watching her from behind the lenses.

The believers all looked at her expectantly. She took a deep breath, and her chest rose and fell.

"The Supreme God sent me..." Anli's voice, amplified by the loudspeaker, resounded throughout the square.

"I am not here to command you, nor to demand anything of you. I am here to pray with you, to pray that the High God will bless us, bless the goblin race, and bless this world."

"I don't have any grand principles to preach. I just want to say that everyone should live well, live for themselves, and live for the Most High God."

She paused, her gaze sweeping over the kneeling goblins, from the bishops in the front row to the believers in the back, from the camera on the left to the temple tower on the right.

"The Most High God is watching over you from the highest heavens!"

Having said that, she said no more.

Augustus was the first to applaud, and the applause spread from the front row to the back row, from the center of the square to every corner.

Anli turned around amidst the applause, not daring to stay for another second.

As she stepped through the temple gates, her legs buckled, and she nearly fell, only managing to steady herself by grabbing the doorframe.

Anli took a deep breath and walked into the temple.

Behind them, the cheers in the square continued, lasting for a long time.
