Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 360 Integrating into Holy Light
The team that was building the defense line arrived early the next morning.
Lynn sat on the black rock and could see a row of black dots appearing on the horizon in the distance.
The black dots slowly grew larger, turning into rows of magic-powered trucks loaded with supplies, followed by several armored vehicles with magic-powered cannons mounted on their roofs.
The convoy stopped at the edge of the defense zone, and dozens of people jumped out of the vehicles.
There were wizards in gray robes, warriors in leather armor, and engineers in thick work clothes.
There's a sense of incongruity about it being a Western fantasy construction team.
The leader was a second-circle wizard, in his forties, bald, wearing thick glasses, and carrying a folder.
He walked up to Lynn, looked him up and down, then looked at the nameplate on Lynn's chest. After confirming his identity, he bowed.
"Lord Lynn? I am the head of the defense construction team. My name is Harding, and I have been ordered to build defensive fortifications in the eastern part of the Third Defense Zone."
Lynn jumped down from the black rock and dusted himself off.
"Thank you for your hard work. I have cleared the area of the defense zone. There are no living creatures within three hundred miles from east to west. With my spirit protecting it, you can carry out your work with peace of mind."
Harding opened the folder, inside which was a map, a topographical map of the Third Defense Zone.
He glanced at the map, then looked up at the surrounding wasteland, and adjusted his glasses.
"Three hundred li is a large area, and it will take us at least a week to complete the basic fortifications."
"Walls, watchtowers, magic cannon positions, as well as supply warehouses and rest areas."
Lynn nodded.
"I can wait a week."
Harding closed the folder, hesitated for a moment, and asked.
"Sir, are there really no Holy Light creatures in the defense zone? Most of our construction workers are apprentices and don't have much combat ability. It would be very dangerous if we encountered Holy Light creatures."
Lynn glanced at him.
"I said, there are no living creatures."
Harding opened his mouth, as if he wanted to say something, but a young first-ring wizard next to him tugged at his sleeve and whispered a few words in his ear.
Harding's expression changed, and he quickly bowed to Lynn.
"Yes, yes, I was too talkative. Please forgive me, sir."
Lynn didn't pursue the matter, turned around and walked back to the black rock, sitting down again.
Harding and his team got busy.
Engineers used measuring instruments to mark lines on the ground, workers unloaded materials from trucks, and wizards inscribed runes on the ground in preparation for the subsequent defensive magic array.
The clanging sounds echoed across the wasteland, occasionally interspersed with the chanting of spells and the tuning of magic cannons.
Lynn was not involved. His task was to clear out, not to build.
How the defense line is built, where it is built, and what materials are used are none of his business.
He just had to wait, wait for the defenses to be built, and wait for the next order.
He sat on the black rock, his gaze passing over the bustling crowd and landing on the golden pillar of light.
The pillar of light is still there, and so is the six-winged angel, like an eternal, unchanging statue.
Lynn glanced at it once and then looked away, not daring to look again.
He lowered his head, looking at the ground beneath his feet, pondering what to do next.
A week shouldn't be wasted.
Cultivation?
Meditation here is ineffective; the rules of holy light suppress everything, and death energy is pitifully scarce. A day of cultivation here is less effective than cultivating for a single hour in the main world.
Research? That would be a good option.
Lynn closed his eyes, his mental energy probing deep into the wasteland, and began analysis.
Holy Light Rules.
He wants to study the rules of holy light in this world!
With one hundred workstations operating simultaneously, data poured down like a waterfall in the sea of consciousness.
The rules of the Holy Light are far more complex than those of the Plague World; they are not a band of light, but a net.
The core rule is "Holy Light," from which secondary rules such as "Purification," "Judgment," "Protection," "Healing," and "Decree" are derived.
Each subordinate rule then spawns even more detailed branches.
The terms "purification" include "exorcising evil spirits," "curing diseases," and "washing away sins."
The trial process includes "conviction," "punishment," and "execution."
Below the guardian are "shield", "barrier", and "protection".
The word "heal" includes "healing," "regeneration," and "nourishment."
Below the judgment are "Judgment", "Destroy the Demon", and "Divine Punishment".
Layer upon layer, nested like the roots of a tree, penetrating deep into the world.
When Lynn's mental energy touched those rules, he felt an intense burning sensation, hotter than before, like putting his hand into boiling water.
He didn't retract his analysis, enduring the burning sensation as he continued.
The rules of the Holy Light were rejecting him, resisting him, and warning him.
This is their territory, and outsiders are not allowed to intrude.
Lynn ignored the warnings; he wasn't trying to absorb the rules of the Holy Light, he just wanted to understand them.
Understand how they work, how they repel death, and how they suppress the dead.
Only by understanding can we find solutions.
The analysis lasted a full day.
When Lynn emerged from his sea of consciousness, the sun had already set.
No, there is no sun here, only a dark red sky and that eternal golden beam of light.
His eyes were sore, his temples were throbbing, and he had exhausted most of his mental energy.
He leaned against the rock, closed his eyes and rested for a while, then stood up, walked to the edge of the defense zone, and looked at the people who were working on the project.
Harding saw him and jogged over.
"Sir, what are your instructions?"
"No, you can continue."
Lynn turned and walked back to the rock, sat down again, closed his eyes, and continued his analysis.
The next day, he began to try to improve the "Heart of Star Reign" by adding the "Holy Light" attribute to it.
This sorcery was his innate sorcery created when he was promoted to a formal sorcerer. It was mainly used to control the undead, but he improved it by incorporating various elements to enhance the various attributes of the undead.
He originally planned to incorporate Holy Light, along with Earth, Soul, Death, Thunder, and so on, into the "Heart of Starbound Domination" to directly amplify the power of the undead.
However, the Holy Light and the undead are in a very serious conflict, and the two are easily defeated at the slightest touch, making it impossible for them to coexist.
Later, Lynn took a different approach, planning to integrate holy light into starlight to achieve his goal.
Starlight is neither holy light nor death; it is a neutral energy that does not conflict with holy light.
Lynn wanted to add Holy Light resistance to the enhancement effect of Starlight, so that the undead could withstand Holy Light for a little longer.
He constructed a model in his sea of consciousness, integrating the two branches of "protection" and "purification" derived from the rules of holy light into the enhancement circuit of starlight.
On the first attempt, the model crashed after running for three breaths.
The rules of holy light and starlight are, after all, two completely different rules. They conflict in the circuit, like oil and water mixed together, which can never be mixed evenly.
In the second attempt, the two were forcibly merged and then integrated into the "Heart of Star Reign". However, the model crashed again after running for ten breaths.
This time it was a conflict between the rules of Holy Light and the power of the undead. The power of the undead is the foundation of the "Heart of Star Reign". When the rules of Holy Light touched the underlying circuit, the entire model burned to ashes like a piece of paper that had been set on fire.
