A mage? A spell engineer!

Chapter 325 Finish the job, then run away
"what?"
"It's difficult for an old person to cast a spell on a city; I need you, a young man, to lend a hand."
Sir Isaac began casting his spell, and Rorschach experienced a familiar feeling. Back then, the Dark Monk manipulated gravity in the same way as the lord, but now the Archmage's manipulation was even more exquisite. He was not releasing a field to affect the objects themselves, but rather manipulating spacetime itself.
"Everything has gravity; gravity is the wrinkle of space. Matter tells space how to warp, and space tells matter how to move. But what about magic? Is it matter or energy?"
Instead of chanting while casting the spell, the lord muttered to himself and said to Rorschach, "This problem has troubled me for a long time, but fortunately, even if we can't reach a conclusion, it doesn't prevent it from interfering with the space we inhabit."
With him at the core, the original distortion of space was smoothed out. He drove the magic to move rapidly at the boundary between the material world and the symbolic world, and within a very small range, it obtained gravity equivalent to that of a massive celestial body.
The transmitted fluctuations corrected the curvature of real space, and then even reversed it. In other words, within the Lord's spell range, the entire block first lost gravity and then began to float.
"This is my limit. Can I extend my proudest spell to the entire city?"
Under normal circumstances, Rorschach couldn't do this, but now, relying solely on Arcane Vision, he could understand the lord's spellcasting mechanism and felt he could imitate it, even at a significantly higher level. This wasn't his power, but that of a wise man.
Even a veteran archmage like Isaac couldn't lift up the capital of Istani, one of the three great powers.
However, just like weightlifting, it may be difficult to steadily support a heavy object, but Rorschach can use a clever trick to lift Storm City with a burst of speed.
Similar to the Lord's spellcasting, Rorschach manipulated as much magic as possible, driving it at high speed between the material and symbolic realms. However, he created two rapidly rotating vortexes, the spatial fluctuations they caused repelling each other.
"What are you doing?" Isaac was taken aback at first, then revealed a fanatical expression.
The two vortexes were accelerated to their limits, and the pure magical motion could now manifest in the real world.
The residents on the ground looked up and saw two dark purple vortices rotating around the midpoint of the line connecting the two centers, moving closer and closer, faster and faster.
They collided! Like celestial bodies rotating and then colliding, a monstrous wave surged through space, and in an instant, a weightless surge swept across the entire city.
The material part of Storm City was lifted up and successfully separated from the more ethereal Shadow City, which was less affected by spatial fluctuations.
Now! Any later and Storm City will sink again, or even worse, fall into the Shadow Realm. Rorschach, disregarding the illusory figure of the Sage in the Deep Sea, decisively activated all the prepared magic arrays.
The magic circle, centered around Rorschach's exclusive runes, activated its hexagonal pattern and then violently shattered everything in its area. First came the "expulsion," which pushed the Shadow City back and kicked it away from the real world; buildings like the Upside-Down Church collapsed and gradually became ethereal.
Next came "decomposition," not complete pulverization, but rather the breaking down of the original solidity of the shadowy land, which triggered a chain reaction. Starting from the oldest holy site, the colossi shattered one after another, and the stone doors broke into smaller pieces in turn.
Centered on the deep-sea area, they begin to rotate, gather, and collide.
Rorschach gazed through Storm City at the Shadow City below it and breathed a sigh of relief—whether it was thanks to the illusory image of the wise man or not, the best outcome had been achieved: the Shadow City had successfully collapsed inward.
Mother Earth sensed the change, but she did not awaken. She merely moved instinctively in her primal form, her tentacles climbing frantically. However, she was already too far from Storm City and could only wave them futilely in the void.
The subway lines collapsed, trains derailed, and the residents of Storm City, the knights, and the infiltrating Grey Elves all witnessed this city-wide tremor. The very foundation of Storm City was torn apart by the earth upon which it rested.
When Shirsha experienced weightlessness, she was face down, and through the cracks in the ground, she saw the shadowy land of destruction and the flamboyant tentacles of Mother Earth.
They were differentiating and tearing at each other, their surfaces exposing endless pus and growing cracks, shrieking with venomous resentment.
The overflowing hatred sent a chill down Sirsa's spine.
The weightlessness lasted less than a second, as did the collapse of the shadowy ground; however, the violent tremors of space just now seemed to have even disrupted time itself.
For ordinary people, they and their surroundings did not perceive any anomalies in spacetime. However, for those with higher levels of magical power, they experienced a sense of dislocation between their soul and body, and that moment of dislocation seemed to last a very, very long time.
Mother Earth, unwilling to let the "wound" leading to the real world shrink any longer, began to escalate, attempting to widen it with her own power, tearing open a fissure to devour all those who stood in her way. Finally, the phantom of the Wise One intervened; the crumbling fragments of the holy image were linked together by sacred light, and then...
The second explosion after Rorschach detonated completely thwarted the Mother Goddess's attempt. In his Arcane Vision, the shadowy land was reduced to a white expanse, then collapsed and turned into a point of light.
Then it went out.
An aged voice echoed in Rorschach's mind: "Thank you."
The illusory image of the wise man vanished completely. Rorschach felt an immense exhaustion wash over him. He still possessed power comparable to an archmage, but he could sense that this power was irresistibly evaporating and decaying.
Caroline had already prepared a teleportation spell. After this battle, the space surrounding Storm City was exceptionally vulnerable. Caroline carefully created an opening and called to the tired students, "Let's go."
Rorschach glanced at the Duke, who was still gazing at the sky at a 45-degree angle, as if the two vortexes Rorschach had created were still there, muttering to himself, "It can be done like this, it can be done like this."
Looking at Storm City now, it was as if it had been through an earthquake; few streets or buildings were intact, and cracks and debris were everywhere. Rorschach sighed and used his last remaining magic to unleash a torrential downpour over the entire city once more, but this time the raindrops carried the magic of "healing."
After doing all this, Rorschach took Caroline's hand and disappeared into the spatial rift.
"Where are we?" Rorschach lay sprawled on the beach, his mouth slightly clenched, the rest of his body limp and unable to move. The sea breeze was a bit chilly, but the sand beneath him was fairly dry.
"Still in Istani, my favorite beach. It was also the limit of what I could teleport to back then." Caroline drew a magic circle on the beach, framing herself and Rorschach within it.
"Istani's capital looks like it's been plowed through," Rorschach said slowly, gazing at the sky. "The casualties must have been considerable."
"When the kingdom chose to collude with the cult, such disastrous consequences were inevitable." Caroline scattered the shards of crystal along the path. "If left unchecked, the Shadowlands would one day become a window for Mother Earth to invade reality. It was your efforts that eliminated the greatest threat at the lowest cost."
"I was just a worker who took the benefits. It was that mysterious ancient sage who ultimately sacrificed everything, taking the Shadow City with him."
"Anyone who manipulates other people's souls at will is simply an evil sorcerer." Caroline was somewhat angry, unsure whether she was angry at the ancient sage or at Rorschach for risking his life and keeping it a secret from his teacher.
She scattered the crystal fragments, and the temporary teleportation array was ready to take them across the ocean this time.
"Huh?" Caroline was taken aback; the teleportation array had activated without her channeling any magic. Realizing what was happening, she looked at Rorschach: "Do you know where it leads?"
"It was drawn by you, I trust you, that's enough." Rorschach could sense that Caroline was also very tired, and forcing another long-distance teleportation might push her to her limit.
Rorschach felt empty because his power was draining away, but even so, his magic power was still greater than Caroline's. Perhaps "intermediate mage" was no longer enough to describe this young man.
The two disappeared on the windswept beach, their dull crystal fragments indistinguishable from the sand, leaving no trace as the tide rose and fell.
