A mage? A spell engineer!

Chapter 324 Revolving Lantern

Chapter 324 Revolving Lantern

After Jazz found Rorschach, the scattered rainbow light suddenly transformed into a shaping attack, with each color corresponding to a different attribute and possessing extremely strong penetrating power.

Even within his own controlled magical field, he could cast spells at will, which led Rorschach to conclude that the other party was an archmage.

In an instant, Rorschach transformed the mist surrounding him from the "Mirror Flower Water Moon" technique into tiny ice crystals, condensed them, and deflected them at the right angle, dispersing Isaac's rainbow light attack through refraction and reflection.

"Interesting." His movements matched the old man's speed, but with just one step, he summoned dozens of prisms. These transparent optical elements that appeared out of thin air could not only change the path of light, but also, due to Isaac's spell, could inflict different kinds of damage on the decomposed rainbow light.

A net of rainbow light appeared, leaving Rorschach and Caroline with nowhere to escape. Caroline abandoned her prepared long-range teleportation and attempted to escape Jazz's all-around attack using short-range teleportation.

However, unexpectedly, the Jazz was also a master of spacetime magic. Instead of directly interfering with space, he used a method that Rorschach and Caroline had never experienced to create a gravitational pull, whipping out violent fluctuations in space like a whip, interrupting Caroline's teleportation.

Fortunately, Luo Xia was nearing the end of his fusion. He crossed the threshold of intermediate mage, gently waved his hand, and calmed the spatial turbulence. At the same time, the prisms surrounding the two of them were all shattered.

"Sir Isaac," Rorschach said, adopting what he considered his most righteous expression, "you misunderstand. The source of the unrest is Mother Earth's attempt to invade the Shadowlands and even Storm City! We are trying to prevent the disaster from happening."

The lord did not believe Rorschach's one-sided account; his current thought was to first subdue the two suspects. Flowing gold emanated from his sleeves, ready to wrap the suspects up.

As gold is a good conductor of magic, he will also use the golden cage to create a separate space to prevent suspects from escaping by teleportation.

In the lord's eyes, these two young men were merely intermediate-level mages, certainly no match for him. The boy was somewhat strange, but judging from their performance in the previous exchange, he was nothing special.

However, at this moment, Rorschach's fusion was finally completed. The teleportation that opened the two worlds, the sudden invasion, and the old man Isaac's attack had exhausted his energy, but the complete form was still born.

At the last moment, the "Soul Restoration Elixir" bestowed by the wise man revealed its true nature, pouring high-purity magic and the knowledge of the archmage into Rorschach's body all at once.

Incantations, rituals, magic circles, stars, prayers—among a multitude of pieces of information, some may have become ineffective, others lost. Regardless of their usefulness, they all frantically occupy Rorschach's mind like a massive folder rapidly unpacking.

In an instant, the carousel began to play.

In the ancient and distant land of sand, gods and mortals are constantly at war, making the already difficult struggle for survival even more painful for the people.

A young boy from a tribe is determined to change everything. He has magical talent, earns the priest's favor, and learns divine magic.

Not content with praying to the gods for power, the boy seeks a way to create miracles on his own.

The scene shifts, and the wise man who has become a sorcerer is now a guest of honor of the king, who at that time was a son of a god and a demigod.

The king was both a wise ruler and a tyrant. During his more than 1,000-year reign, the king was more powerful than ever before and could even challenge the gods. After his death, people secretly spat on his coffin and threw stones at it, and no one thanked him.

The king's sons became mortals, though they still possessed great power, leading their respective supporters to carve out their own territories and fight amongst themselves. It was the wise men who accompanied the king through his twilight years, ultimately gathering his remains.

As dynasties changed, the wise man felt lost. He practiced and created magic while imparting his ideas to his students, hoping to bring a better life to his people.

His disciples and the people hoped he would become a ruler, but he refused, fearing he would repeat the mistakes of the demigod kings. He chose to guide people towards goodness, attempting to establish a sound faith and unite his fellow citizens. The wise believed that faith could transcend the power of rule.

He grew increasingly powerful and became friends with a god named Thoth, together they developed alchemy, an art of modifying matter.

Thoth died, but he didn't really die.

The wise man left the Sand Kingdom and traveled to the mainland, where he discovered that faith could also be exploited. In his eyes, the humans of the mainland were slaves to the gods and other powerful races, and he began to try to guide a human tribe.

This can't go on! Luo Xia stopped the revolving lantern with his mind. He had acquired enough skill to recompress the remaining parts and seal them away from his mind.

Because the wise man's life is exceptionally long, even if he has no intention of possessing Rorschach's body, the length of his life far exceeds the sum of Rorschach's original self and his own. Continuing like this would probably cause his self-awareness to fall into chaos.

Isaac suddenly noticed the magic in the air was boiling, and his magic almost went out of control, so he quickly withdrew it. The boy's whole body burst out with golden light, and his form gradually became indistinct. In the face covered by the golden light, speckled starlight in deep blue shimmered from his seven orifices, outlining his features.

At this moment, Rorschach was like an elemental being.

Caroline and Isaac were both surprised and suspicious; this was exactly how Rorschach had reacted to the Sage's revolving lantern. Once he calmed down, he returned to reality, back to Storm City, where the power of Mother Earth had swept through.

Rorschach smiled apologetically: "Sir, this proves to you that we are friends, not enemies."

After he finished speaking, a spell that covered the entire city descended, similar to what the wise man had shown Rorschach. The orange-red weather suddenly cleared up, and the sky even turned a deep blue, a sight rarely seen in Storm City.

Then a sun shower began. Although there were no clouds, countless raindrops fell. Sir Isaac stretched out his hand, and raindrops the size of beans gathered in his palm, which actually glowed. They contained not magic, but divinity.

According to the Church's standards, it is high-purity holy water.

"You're from the Church of Order?" The lord was somewhat confused; this was the first time in over a hundred years that he had seen a clergyman in a mage's robe. Were things really that elaborate on the mainland?

"It's just that the form of expression is similar." Rorschach was quite certain that this was a spell from the wise man's memories, not a divine spell. It was just that the concept of "purification" was added to the basics of summoning wind and rain, which was far from the old man's legendary spell that permanently changed the climate of a place.

All the tentacles struck by the purifying rain were severely damaged; the toxic fog and floating particles in the air were absorbed by the raindrops, preventing them from spreading and poisoning ordinary people; and all the fires in the city were extinguished by Rorschach at the same time.

That's why he chose to strike Mother Earth in the form of rain. A triple kill.

But as the rain melts some of the tentacles, new ones grow back. It seems the Shadowlands have been completely corrupted by Mother Earth, and this catastrophe will not end unless Storm City and the Shadowlands are separated.

Rorschach explained everything to Caroline, and the lord, upon hearing this, remarked, "If Storm City could be realistically separated from the land, wouldn't that stop the Mother Goddess?"
