Become a Homelander and a Marvel superstar
Chapter 601 I'm Willing
But she was scared.
This man ultimately came from another universe.
Does all of this truly belong to her? Or is it all just a dream?
She was afraid that once she nodded, the dream would end, leaving only deeper pain.
“This is truly a touching moment,” Mordo coughed, breaking the silence. He glanced at his watch and urged, “Christine, accept him. Time is of the essence; the Illuminati members are waiting for us. Accept his proposal, then I’ll handcuff him. Everyone’s happy.”
Mordo was eager to complete the mission.
He didn't care about love; he only cared about sealing off the magic of this dangerous variant as soon as possible.
Christine ignored Mordo and simply watched Strange kneeling on one knee.
She saw the expectation in his eyes, and his hands trembling slightly with nervousness.
Screw the multiverse.
Fuck the variant.
Christine said to herself.
In that instant, the man before her was her Stephen.
He made up for the promise that was many years overdue.
Christine bit her lower lip and nodded vigorously.
"I do," she said softly, her voice slightly nasal.
Strange smiled with relief, tears welling in his eyes.
He carefully took out the diamond ring and gently slipped it onto Christine's ring finger.
The moment the ring touched her skin, Christine's tears finally burst forth.
She took the bouquet of red roses and hugged it tightly to her chest, as if she were embracing her lost youth.
"Alright, time for romance over." Mordo strode forward. "Time to get down to business, Stephen. Hold out your hand."
Strange stood up, gave Christine a deep look, and then calmly extended his hands.
Mordo deftly fastened the anti-magic bracelet onto Strange's wrist.
With a crisp "click," the runes on the handcuffs lit up.
Strange felt an inexplicable force blocking his mental perception.
His connection to the magical dimension was also instantly severed.
He wasn't discouraged; he even smiled and waved the handcuffs on his wrists at Christine.
"Alright, Romeo," Mordo waved his hand, "we're taking you to the Illuminati for trial and questioning. After a vote by the Illuminati members, you will receive a fair judgment."
Two Ultron robots stepped forward and grabbed Strange's arms from either side.
"Don't worry," Strange called back to Christine, a happy smile on his face, "After the questioning, we'll go pick out the wedding dress!"
The Ultron robot escorted Strange out of the interrogation room, with Mordo close behind.
The metal door closed again.
Christine stood alone in the empty room, looking down at the diamond ring on her ring finger.
Diamonds refract brilliant light under illumination.
She slowly sat down, but her unease grew stronger.
A moment later, Christine suddenly stood up, gritted her teeth, and followed.
……
Strange was escorted by the Ultron robot through a long corridor, eventually arriving at a huge double metal door.
The doors opened to both sides, and Strange was pushed inside.
This is an extremely spacious circular hall, surrounded by rows of huge pillars.
At the very top of the front of the hall, there were seven imposing high-backed chairs.
The entire hall has a cold and solemn design style, exuding a sense of oppressive superiority.
There are currently six people sitting on the seven chairs.
Strange stood below, his gaze sweeping over the figures on the platform.
Apart from Mordo, Strange didn't recognize any of the other five people.
Sitting to Mordo's left was a man in a black uniform with a strange symbol resembling a tuning fork printed on his forehead.
His face was expressionless, and his lips were tightly closed, giving people a feeling of extreme repression.
This is the leader of the Inhumans, Black Bolt.
Next to Black Bolt was a bald old man sitting in a high-tech wheelchair.
He was wearing a sharp suit, and his eyes were wise and gentle.
This is Professor X, Charles Xavier, the spiritual leader of the mutants.
To Mordo's right sat a man wearing a blue bodysuit with a prominent number "4" printed on his chest.
His eyes revealed absolute rationality and calmness, as if he were looking at Strange as if he were examining an experimental subject.
This is Mr. Fantastic, Reed Richards.
Reed was standing next to a Black woman.
She wore a red and blue tight-fitting uniform with a gold star pattern on her breastplate, and her eyes were full of aggression.
This is Captain Marvel of this universe, Maria Rambo.
When Strange's gaze fell on the last member, he couldn't help but raise his eyebrows.
It was a woman wearing a tight-fitting outfit.
She looked dashing, her uniform color scheme was exactly the same as Captain America Steve Rogers', and she even held a round vibranium shield in her hand, except that the pattern on the shield was changed to the Union Jack.
This is Captain Carter.
"Wow." Strange looked at Captain Carter and couldn't help but tease him.
"I really didn't expect that in this universe, Captain America Steve Rogers would even have a different gender?"
Upon hearing the name "Steve Rogers," Captain Carter's expression shifted slightly, but he quickly regained his composure.
"Stephen Strange. Your arrival has disrupted the spacetime order of the multiverse."
Reed Richards, sitting on the far right, spoke first. He leaned forward, his hands clasped on his knees.
"Traveling between universes is not allowed. Doing so would not only cause irreversible damage to your current universe, but could even lead to the destruction of both universes."
“I understand your concerns, Mr. Four,” Strange explained calmly, “but I did not come here of my own volition; it was an accident caused by magic.”
"More importantly, I have made my decision. I have decided to stay here and never open the cosmic barrier again to return to my universe. Moreover, I can make amends for my mistakes as the guardian of this universe."
The Illuminati members on the platform did not change their expressions because of his words.
"We don't need your help," Captain Marvel Maria scoffed. "The Illuminati can handle any threat; we don't need a time bomb around us."
"Stephen," Professor X's gentle voice slowly rang out, "the reason we founded the Illuminati was originally initiated by you in this universe."
Strange looked at Professor X and nodded. "I think I have a guess."
"In this universe, you secretly practiced the Dark Book in order to fight Thanos," Professor Charles continued recounting history. "Although he eventually found a way, he was corrupted by dark magic, triggering a collision event. Countless lives perished as a result. In the end... our Illuminati voted to execute him."
"I've already learned about this from Christine." Strange raised his hands, which were bound by anti-magic handcuffs.
"But I'm different. If you let me stay by Christine's side, I can give up all this magic. I can be an ordinary person. An ordinary person who poses no threat..."
"That's enough," Mordo interrupted him expressionlessly.
"Your personal will is meaningless in the face of the life and death of the multiverse. Whatever your subjective intentions, your very existence is a violation of the rules. The laws of the universe will not change because of your love."
