Chapter 599 Destroyed Two Universes

Christine tried to maintain a cold exterior and put on a tough, businesslike demeanor.

But every word Strange uttered stirred the love buried deep within her heart.

Her Stephen never kept these trivial daily occurrences to himself.

His mind was filled with nothing but surgery, magic, saving the world, and his unbridled arrogance.

Soon, they arrived at a spacious interrogation room.

The room is surrounded by one-way glass, and a metal table and two chairs are placed in the center.

Strange pulled out a chair and sat down, with Christine sitting opposite her.

"Name." Christine opened the holographic recording panel in front of her and began the interrogation.

"Stephen Vincent Strange. But I prefer you to call me 'darling'." Strange smiled at her.

Christine ignored his flirting and continued taking notes. "What is your purpose in coming to Universe 838?"

"Universe 838?" Strange asked, somewhat puzzled.

Christine stopped what she was doing and explained to him, "The Buster Foundation has developed a multiverse waveform monitor. This instrument can capture quantum signals and energy fluctuations from other universes. Based on this data, we have established a sophisticated naming and classification system for the multiverse. For ease of management and research, we have numbered the known universes."

"The universe we are in now is called Universe 838."

Strange nodded in realization.

"Waveform monitoring device? Mature classification system?"

He looked around at the high-tech facilities and exclaimed sincerely, "This universe is amazing. Your technology surpasses ours in many ways."

He then looked at Christine again and said, "I don't have any particular purpose. I came here because of a magical accident. At first, I thought it was a disaster, but now..."

He leaned forward, his eyes tender, and said, "Now I feel it's fate. Fate brought me across the endless universe to find you again. Christine, now that I'm here, I won't leave again."

Christine touched her forehead, feeling a headache coming on.

"Stephen, calm down," she warned helplessly. "We're being questioned right now, so please behave properly."

She appeared stern on the surface, but inwardly she felt a pang of sadness.

She had to admit that she was struggling to resist the allure of her ex-lover.

If Stephen in this universe had been as passionate and cared for her as he was, they might never have broken up.

And Stephen will not go down the path of self-destruction.

Strange made an apologetic gesture after hearing Christine's words.

"Yes, sir. Ask away."

Christine took a deep breath, suppressed all her emotions, and asked the most crucial question.

Where is Emilia Chavez?

Strange paused, then asked in surprise, "You know Emily?"

Christine nodded, her expression grave, and said:

"When Thanos attacked, conventional magic, technology, and tactics had all become ineffective. We had no chance of winning against Thanos, who possessed the Infinity Stones."

"Left with no other option, Stephen could only pin his hopes on the infinite possibilities of the multiverse. He believed that since our universe couldn't find a solution, there must exist somewhere in the endless multiverse where someone had already successfully defeated Thanos."

"So, he embarked on an extreme path..."

"He used the 'Dreamwalking Magic' recorded in the Dark Book to travel through countless multiverses, trying to find a perfect solution to replicate on himself."

"During this process, he discovered Emilia's existence. He recorded in his notebook her amazing ability to open star-shaped portals and physically travel across universes."

"After he was executed by the Illuminati, the Buster Foundation took over all of his research findings. As a result, we also have access to all the files on Emilyka."

The Illuminati? Executed?

Strange keenly caught a few jarring words.

He frowned and pressed on, "Wait a minute. Didn't Doctor Strange in this universe perish alongside Thanos? The inscription on the base of the statue clearly states that he gave his life in the battle against Thanos. And what is the Illuminati?"

When this topic was brought up, Christine sadly lowered her head.

A brief silence fell over the room.

Strange didn't say anything to disturb her, but just looked at her drooping shoulders with heartache.

No matter which universe Christine was from, the way she suffered pain always tugged at his heartstrings.

Not long after, Christine raised her head again.

Her eyes were a little red, but she still tried to calm herself down and explained.

"The statue outside is a lie."

"Because Stephen frequently used 'dreamwalking magic,' in the process, his dark magic disrupted the boundaries of reality in the multiverse. This caused another universe to collide with the universe he was exploring."

"Two universes were annihilated simultaneously. Trillions of lives, countless vibrant civilizations, were utterly destroyed because of his arrogance."

Strange's body trembled, destroying two universes?

What crazy thing did Stephen do?

“And the Illuminati…” Christine continued, “is the world’s premier superhero organization that protects Earth. It’s composed of some of the smartest and most powerful individuals. They’re responsible for dealing with cosmic threats that regular heroes can’t handle.”

"The Illuminati believes that dark magic has an irreversible corrupting effect on its users. The Dark Book has already corrupted Stephen's mind. As long as Doctor Strange is alive, he could lose control again at any time."

"To prevent him from committing any further irreparable acts of destruction... the Illuminati unanimously decided that he must be eliminated."

Christine's voice trembled slightly, but she forced herself to finish.

"Stephen himself realized his mistake, and he acknowledged the danger he posed. To atone for his sins and to protect the universe, he chose to die willingly."

"Finally, it was destroyed by Black Bolt, a member of the Illuminati, using a sonic whisper..."

Strange felt his breath catch in his throat; he couldn't imagine the scene.

"In order to maintain social stability and to avoid shattering the public's faith in superheroes, the Illuminati concealed the true reason for his execution. They told the world that Stephen died a heroic death in the battle against Thanos."

Strange suddenly realized that such a cruel truth was hidden beneath this perfect facade.

After seeing Christine, he seemed to have become much more clear-headed.

He recalled his crazy actions after coming into contact with the Dark Book, and his dark thoughts about trying to steal Emilia's abilities.

Strange suddenly felt a wave of fear wash over him.

If magic hadn't brought him here by accident, would he have met the same fate?
