Become a Homelander and a Marvel superstar
Chapter 253 is called V
Behind Jessica.
Wanda silently walked down the gangway. She didn't speak or look at anyone.
She walked to an open space and raised her hand.
"Sizzle—"
A portal, crackling with sparks, tore open in the air.
On the other side of the gate are the snow-capped Himalayas and the ancient architecture of Kamar-Taj.
The monk Modu was instructing his apprentices in the square when he saw Wanda return and immediately went to greet her.
"Wanda? You're back? The news said..."
"I want to go into the library."
Wanda interrupted him, her voice calm and even.
"I want to read all the high-level texts on dimensional magic and spatial magic."
Mordo frowned: "Many of those books contain forbidden powers. Master Ancient One said that if your power is not controlled..."
"Then let her stop me."
Wanda raised her hand, and crimson chaotic energy danced at her fingertips, no longer as violent and overflowing as before, but condensed into a substantial form.
"I'm calm now, Mordo."
At this moment, her eyes were filled with unwavering determination and single-minded focus.
"I'm too weak."
"If I had enough power, I could stand by his side and pull him back before he lost his way."
"I will never let this happen again."
After saying that, she ignored Mo Du's astonished gaze and walked straight to the library.
From that moment on, Kamar-Taj had one more madman.
She studied those obscure and difficult magical spells day and night without sleep. Her progress terrified all the mages.
Because what sustains her is no longer hatred, but something even stronger than hatred—the obsession to cross dimensions to find her lover.
……
On the huge helipad at VGD headquarters.
Homelander II has completed refueling and maintenance.
The members of the Guardians of the Galaxy are gathered at the hatch, saying their final goodbyes.
"So... this starship is ours now?" Rocket Raccoon stroked the spaceship's hull with obvious affection.
"Walter shouldn't mind, right?" Quill hesitated, glancing at the busy crowd in the distance. "After all, this is their property."
"Mind it?" Yondu chuckled. "We also contributed to saving the galaxy, so what's wrong with taking one of their ships? It's... a reasonable reward."
"That's right." Drax nodded, looking serious. "And this ship has very soft beds, much more comfortable than the Milan."
Gamora walked over with her backpack, glanced at her unreliable teammates, and sighed.
"Where do we go next?"
Quill was silent for a moment, then looked up at the deep starry sky.
"That guy... Homelander. He said he was just lost."
"We are the Guardians of the Galaxy. Our job is to meddle in other people's business."
"Since he's not dead yet..." Quill's signature cynical voice rang out, "...then we'll search every corner of the universe to find him."
"And pick up a few bounty missions while you're at it," Rocket added. "Fuel for the spaceship isn't cheap."
"I am Groot."
"It's settled then!" Yondu laughed, patting Kraglin on the head. "Big oaf, go start the engine! We're off!"
The group began walking towards the spaceship, except for one person who remained still.
"nebula?"
Gamora stopped and turned around, her brows furrowed slightly.
"What are you doing? We're leaving."
"No, Gamora." Nebula shook her head. "I'm not leaving."
"Why?" Gamora frowned. "You still hate me?"
"No, Gamora. I don't hate you anymore, but I don't belong there either."
She turned around and looked at the towering statue of the Fatherlanders in the distance, gleaming in the sunlight.
"I've been wandering the universe for too long, a killing machine, a monster."
"...But when he looked at me, I felt like a human being."
"I'm going to stay here and wait for him."
Gamora fell silent. She looked at her sister, Nebula, who had once been filled with malice and murderous intent, but now seemed like a child who had found her home.
"Okay." Gamora stepped forward and gently hugged Nebula. This was the first real hug the sisters had ever shared in their lives.
"Take care of yourself. If anyone bullies you..."
"I'll tear him to pieces." Nebula interrupted her, a stiff smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Don't forget who I am."
"If you can't stay here... the doors of the Guardians of the Galaxy are always open for you."
Take care, little sister.
Gamora turned and left, boarding the spaceship.
With its engines roaring, Homelander II spewed blue flames as it slowly rose into the air, breaking through the atmosphere and disappearing into the vast sea of stars.
Nebula stood still until the spaceship completely disappeared.
"Your name is Nebula, right?"
A cold voice sounded from behind, and Jessica walked over at some point.
Nebula turned around, reverting to her usual aloof and unapproachable demeanor.
"It seems you've made your choice." Jessica looked the cyborg up and down. "Anthony said you're an excellent warrior, and also... a lovely girl."
Nebula's expression shifted slightly, but she did not refute it.
"I thought you would stay." Jessica wasn't surprised. "I noticed something was off about the way you looked at me on the spaceship."
"Listen, Smurfette. If you want to wait for him to come back, you need to find something to do. Walter doesn't keep idle people."
"I understand, I will work for you." Nebula nodded.
"Very good. He had a plan before he left."
Jessica tapped her finger, opening a holographic image. A grand blueprint for an interstellar fleet unfolded in the sky.
"He wanted to build a human fleet capable of interstellar travel and combat."
"We have the technology and the resources, but we lack someone who knows the business."
Jessica looked at Nebula.
"You understand the universe, starships, and interstellar warfare."
"I want you to become the commander of humanity's first interstellar fleet."
"You... trust me?" Nebula asked in disbelief. "I'm an alien with blood on my hands."
"Will you let us down?" Jessica countered. "All I know is that he approves of you, and that's enough."
"Okay." Nebula was silent for a few seconds, then nodded heavily. "I'll do it."
"Good girl." Jessica smiled slightly. "There's one more question. In Walt, everyone needs a hero's codename. What would you like to call yourself? Or should I help you choose one?"
"How about the Smurfs? Or the Excalibur?"
Nebula did not speak.
Her gaze fell on the ubiquitous "V" logo at Vought Base.
"V," Nebula said.
"What?" Jessica was taken aback.
"Let's call him V."
Nebula repeated it.
"V?" Jessica raised an eyebrow and smiled. "Simple, direct, and cool."
"Welcome to Walter, Ms. V."
