Become a Homelander and a Marvel superstar
Chapter 242 Is this what they call a luxury vacation?
Everyone looked up.
A S.H.I.E.L.D. Airbus landed on the tarmac outside.
The hatch opened, and a group of people quickly walked in.
Leading the way was an elderly white man in a black trench coat. He only had one eye, but that did not diminish his somber aura.
Behind him followed Skye, Coulson, and his S.H.I.E.L.D. squad.
"stop!"
Steve raised his hand, signaling them to stop.
The surrounding Walter security personnel immediately raised their weapons and aimed them at the uninvited guests.
"State your purpose," Steve said seriously.
"I am Nick Fury."
The old white man spoke, in that familiar tone, with that arrogance that made you want to punch him.
"What?" Tony was stunned for a moment, then scoffed, "Huh? Nick Fury? You might as well say you're MJ?"
Natasha chimed in, "Indeed, Fury is Black and wanted by the authorities. And you don't look like you're wearing a disguise."
Steve's gaze, however, fell on Coulson.
"...Coulson? Weren't you dead?"
"It's a long story, Captain." Coulson raised his hands to indicate no harm was done, a slightly embarrassed smile on his face. "But I am still alive, I suppose."
"I know you have a lot of questions. Why did I turn white? Why is Coulson still alive? Why am I here?" Fury chimed in.
"But now is not the time for storytelling." He glanced around at the crowd. "Because I'm not sure who around me I can trust."
"We need to board the ship."
"No way." Tony refused outright. "You think you're Fury just because you say so? I could say I'm Bruce Wayne."
"These are critical times, and no suspicious persons are allowed to approach this spacecraft."
The atmosphere became somewhat tense.
At that moment, Skynet's gentle voice came over the loudspeaker in the hall.
"Confirmed to be Nick Fury himself."
A holographic projection of Skynet appeared in the middle of the crowd and nodded to Fury.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Fury. Mr. Starr mentioned your new look; it's very creative."
Only after hearing Skynet's confirmation did everyone lower their guard slightly.
"So what?" Tony was even more annoyed after realizing it really was Fury. "Even if you are that one-eyed guy. This ship is full. If you want to travel, go somewhere else."
"Um... I'm not here for tourism."
A clear female voice rang out, and Skye stepped out from behind Fury.
"I'm here to see my boss." She carried a backpack and her eyes were determined. "My name is Daisy Jensen, or you can call me Skye."
"I am Homelander's mole planted in S.H.I.E.L.D." Skye raised her voice.
The room fell silent upon hearing this.
Even Fury and Coulson's faces twitched involuntarily.
Although they already knew the truth, it was still somewhat embarrassing for the girl to say so confidently that she was an "undercover agent" in front of so many people.
Jessica squinted, looking the beautiful mixed-race girl up and down.
"An undercover agent? I've never heard Anthony mention you before?"
"That's classified," Skye retorted defiantly. "It's a secret that only he and I know."
"He gave me this watch." She showed off the seemingly ordinary mechanical watch on her wrist.
"He said that if I'm in danger, I should press this button and he will come to my rescue."
"But now..." Skye's voice trembled slightly, but she quickly regained her composure.
"I need to go find him. I need to report to him... on my work."
"A performance review?" Natasha chuckled. "Girl, that's quite a unique excuse."
"It's true," Skynet interjected again. "Miss Skye is indeed Mr. Starr's direct secret contact, with a very high level of access."
Jessica and Wanda exchanged a glance.
Women's intuition tells them that this "performance review" is probably not that simple.
But now is not the time for jealousy and rivalry.
"There's still room on the spaceship," Jessica said indifferently. "One more person won't make a difference."
"Thank you." Skye breathed a sigh of relief and quickly walked up the spaceship's gangway.
Coulson and his team wanted to catch up.
"Hey! Wait a minute!" Tony stopped them. "Tickets are limited! Those are family seats! What are you agents doing here?"
"We went there to help!" Coulson argued.
"That's outer space! Not a place for you to play spy games!" Tony retorted without holding back.
"Never mind, let them go," Fury said, stopping Coulson. "We have our own mission."
His gaze fell on Tony Stark.
"Stark, when you find him, tell him..."
"I'll wait for him here. If he's still alive."
Tony gave Fury a deep look and nodded.
The hatch closed.
Homelander II roared to life and, under the watchful eyes of Fury and the others, slowly ascended into the sky before transforming into a streak of light and disappearing into the horizon.
……
"Whoosh—whoosh—"
The dry air, the scorching wind, and the coarse sand hit the uniform with a thud.
The sky was a murky yellowish-brown, and the ground looked as if it were covered by an old shroud.
I said…
"Is this what they call a luxury vacation?"
"System, do you have some kind of misunderstanding about the word 'vacation'?"
"My ideal vacation is a beach, sunshine, bikinis, and fresh milk at 37 degrees Celsius."
"Did you think I hadn't played enough over there, so you specially sent me here to participate in PUBG?"
No one answered him. Only a buzzing sound, like the high-frequency vibration of insect wings, came from afar.
"Oh well, what's done is done," Azu sighed. "Let's see which unlucky world this is."
With his super vision activated, his gaze pierced through the smoke and dust, and through the concrete walls.
"Oh? That's..." Azu raised an eyebrow, his interest piqued.
……
On that scorched earth, two figures moved swiftly through the shadows of the ruins.
The man walking in front was wearing a dusty brown tactical trench coat, and a black uniform could be vaguely seen underneath.
He held a SCAR assault rifle fitted with kryptonite, Bruce Wayne's only remaining support in this hopeless world.
Following behind him was a woman with cute red and blue pigtails, but now they were filthy and messy.
The jacket he was wearing was so tattered that its original color was almost unrecognizable.
Harley Quinn, the former Gotham crime queen, is currently dragging a heavy anti-tank grenade launcher and chewing tasteless gum.
"How much further, little bat?"
Harley lowered her voice, but her tone carried a slightly neurotic excitement.
She kicked away a skull at her feet: "If you don't let me blow something up, I'm going to start blowing myself up."
"Shut up, Quinn."
Bruce didn't turn around. He stopped behind a collapsed concrete wall and raised his binoculars to observe an abandoned subway entrance in front of him.
"According to Cyborg's intelligence, there is a group of black market merchants there who have the Kryptonite we need."
