Harry Potter, the savior of Night City
Chapter 8 He really does resemble a bat.
On Friday, Harry came out of Quirrell's office again. Yes, ever since that day, Quirrell had been inviting Harry to his office every day to listen to him talk about the Philosopher's Stone, and from time to time he would "unintentionally" reveal the status of the Philosopher's Stone. Harry said he was completely uninterested in this and wanted to give him a good whack.
As for his cybernetic body, Harry still didn't understand what was happening. He only felt that his cybernetic body seemed to have gained a soul. The most obvious change was in the Mantis Blade; blue, unknown characters would occasionally flash across its dark red blade, and the Mantis Blade would also make requests, including but not limited to:
Clean every three days.
"It needs to be taken out for some fresh air every now and then."
"He needs to chop up at least ten people every week." (Harry firmly refused this.)
......
Not only the Mantis Blade, but also the Prosthetic Eye, Swannstein, and others made their own requests, though they were all things like cleaning their bodies. Harry needed to clean his prosthetic body regularly to prevent malfunctions, so he readily agreed.
Today Harry received a letter from Hagrid, asking him to come see him. He grabbed a quill from Malfoy, who was sitting next to him, quickly wrote a reply, and then put the quill back in the quill. (Malfoy: I have no objection.)
The morning class was Potions, two periods. Harry was very interested in Potions because he was still thinking about Hagrid's potion.
Harry went down to the Potions classroom and sat down next to Hermione. He seemed fine, but Hermione was trembling slightly. After all, what happened on the train and the Slytherin prefect who was still in bed had left a considerable shadow on her.
Professor Snape walked into the classroom, his robes billowing as if a blower were stuffed inside.
"Does nobody really notice he looks like a bat?" Harry quipped, Hermione next to him almost burst out laughing, while Ron behind him had already started laughing.
"Gryffindor, deduct five points." Snape glanced at Ron, then casually deducted a point.
"You have come here to learn the precise science and rigorous process of potion-making. Since many of you do not believe that this is magic without foolishly waving your wands, I do not expect you to appreciate the wonders of potions... I can teach you to increase your reputation and brew glory, but you must not be the kind of fools I often encounter."
Harry couldn't help but applaud his brilliant opening remarks.
"Potter!" Snape suddenly looked at Harry. "What would I get if I added narcissus root powder to artemisia and gold leaf?"
"If I remember correctly, it's something called the Water of Life and Death." Harry had read the textbook beforehand, all in order to obtain the potion.
Snape raised an eyebrow at him, then nodded, and asked...
"If I want to find a piece of dung, where should I look?"
"In the goat's stomach."
"To be precise, it's not just in goats, but also in the stomachs of cows and other sheep, though not as effectively." Snape's tone softened, no longer as aggressive as before.
"So, what's the difference between *Aconitum carmichaelii* and *Aconitum davidii*?"
"There's no difference; they're both aconite."
Snape's entire demeanor brightened up. "Very good, Slytherin, ten points. Sit down. Why didn't the rest of you write it down!"
The sound of quills rustling filled the air. Harry looked at Snape and wondered if it was just his imagination, but he felt as if a pixel had risen from the corner of Snape's mouth.
Soon it was time for the practical exercise. Snape asked them to prepare a boil potion. When he saw Harry wearing gloves and crushing the snake's fangs with his hands, his eyes twitched, and he quickly stepped forward.
"Potter! Do you want to see Merlin?!" Snape roared at Harry and Hermione. "And you! Why didn't you stop him? Ten points deducted from Gryffindor!"
"Sir, Professor, it's my fault, but I don't think a millstone is better than my hands."
"This isn't about whether it's useful or not! This is a venomous snake's fang! Do you want to see Merlin ahead of time?"
"Okay, okay, Professor, could you please remove Hermione's deduction? This is my problem, please don't drag others into it, okay?"
Snape stared intently into Harry's eyes, then closed them, his brow furrowed. He opened his eyes again, looking at Harry blankly. "So, you want to play the hero and rescue your poor old professor after seeing our savior?"
"Never mind, Harry, it's alright." Hermione was still a little afraid of Harry, but she was grateful that he stood up for her.
"Alright, alright, I surrender." Harry gave a French salute. "Professor, I'll make potions properly."
Snape turned and left without giving Harry a single glance.
After that, apart from that little boy named Neville and another boy named Seamus who messed up their potions and even blew up Professor Snape, Snape's demeanor only brightened up a bit after Harry handed in a proper potion after class.
"Harry, um... thank you." Hermione came up to Harry and thanked him.
"It's okay, it was my fault anyway," Harry replied casually, without saying anything more.
In the afternoon, it was Professor Flitwick's Charms class. Professor Flitwick was a short professor who looked somewhat like a goblin, but Harry was also told that he was the champion of the Wizarding Contest, which made Harry very interested.
In the afternoon, Harry arrived at Hagrid's hut as promised, followed by two tails. Ron insisted on coming after seeing Harry, and Hermione followed after seeing Ron and wondering what he was up to.
"Harry, you've finally arrived!" Hagrid was overjoyed, holding the collar of a large black hound in his hand as he invited them in.
The cottage wasn't very tidy, and was even a bit dilapidated, but it had a strong sense of home.
"Don't be shy." Hagrid sat down in front of them, put rock cakes on their plates, and poured tea into the cups in front of them.
"This is Ron, this is..."
"I am Hermione, Hermione Granger." Hermione chose to introduce herself.
Hagrid nodded, looking at Ron. "Another Weasley? I spent a lot of effort getting your two brothers out of here."
He then turned to Hermione and asked, "Are you from the Granger family, the potions family?"
Hermione shook her head. "No, my parents are ordinary people, they're dentists..."
Hermione and Hagrid were having a good chat, while Harry ate his rock biscuit and listened. To be honest, Harry thought the biscuit tasted pretty good, with a berry biscuit-like texture. But looking at Ron, the biscuit seemed pretty hard.
Harry picked up his tea and happened to see the news in the newspaper on the table: Gringotts 713 had been illegally broken into. He looked at Hagrid and interrupted their conversation.
"Hagrid, what did you take from Vault 713?"
Hagrid wouldn't look Harry in the eye, like a lying child, and didn't say a word.
"Fine, fine." Harry sighed helplessly, but didn't care, since it didn't seem to concern him at the moment.
When they were about to leave, it was already dinnertime. Ron and Hermione kindly packed some rock cakes, but only Harry really liked them and filled a whole bag with them.
However, for some reason, whenever Harry thought about the broken-in vault, Quirrell would involuntarily come to mind.
"What's wrong with me? I keep thinking about that abstract thing." He shook his head. His subconscious told him that this matter was not so simple, but he didn't want to think about so many things. He stuffed a piece of rock-skin cake into his mouth, successfully interrupting his thoughts. The chewing action made Ron and Hermione cover their teeth.
"Not bad, Hao Chi."
