Harry Potter, the savior of Night City
Chapter 77 Memories
"That notebook?" Harry walked over to Lucius, looked at the black notebook in Lucius's hand, and seemed to remember something. "Right, he originally intended to put this notebook with Ginny."
"So, in that case, the black notebook is what we're looking for," Dumbledore said. If Serena was Voldemort's doing, and this notebook was for Serena, Voldemort wouldn't have any other way to control Serena, so... Dumbledore looked at the black notebook and suddenly had a bad feeling.
"Dobby!" Lucius suddenly called out from his memory, and Dobby instantly materialized in front of Lucius.
"Just slip this notebook to any young wizard, and don't let him find it."
"Yes, yes." Dobby took the notebook from Lucius's hands with trembling hands. The phantom appeared and disappeared, and this memory ended there.
The scene shifts to the second memory, where Dobby is cleaning the hallway. His small body is holding a mop twice his height, and he is working hard on the floor. Harry and Dumbledore are standing there watching him clean. The main event of this memory begins when he walks to the door of Lucius's study.
"The Chamber of Secrets, the Chamber of Secrets in Hogwarts, yes, the Chamber of Secrets in Slytherin..." Lucius's voice came from the study. Dobby, as a house-elf, wasn't doing his duty but instead peeking through the door. "I'm going to send this notebook out... what am I supposed to do? What was I just about to do?"
Lucius's voice suddenly became confused, but quickly became firm again: "Yes, move this thing to a different place."
Lucius was talking to himself in the room, completely unaware, and unable to be unaware, that his most loyal slave, the house-elf, was eavesdropping.
"Looks like the little guy who provided us with information is disloyal." Dumbledore looked at Dobby, who was eavesdropping on the screen, with a strange expression. Since the goblin rebellion was suppressed by justice, and these filthy goblins had to turn more of their people into house-elves, he had never seen such a disloyal house-elf.
"Betrayal..." Harry characterized the house-elf's disloyalty as betrayal, and his disdain grew stronger. Betrayal was common in Night City, but common did not mean it could be forgiven. On the contrary, in Harry's eyes, any betrayal should be punished severely. However, he hesitated because the man had betrayed him for his own sake, providing him with information. He was undecided for a moment.
"Let's deal with this elf later," Dumbledore interrupted Harry's thoughts. "The main objective now is to get more information from Dobby."
The scene changes again, this time to a Muggle alley. Dobby is slumped on the ground, while a young, black figure floats in the air, looking at Dobby with disgust.
"House-elves? You filthy beasts." Riddle glared angrily at Dobby, who was trembling like a sieve on the ground. "Never mind, I can't move now anyway." He silently retreated into his notebook, a black thread connecting to Dobby's forehead. Dobby's eyes became lifeless, and he slowly stood up, picked up the notebook with both hands, and staggered towards Diagon Alley.
Harry turned to look at Dumbledore, only to find Dumbledore silently watching the scene before him, his face grim.
"Dumbledore, what have you discovered?"
Dumbledore didn't reply, but his aura and anger were palpable even from this distance. Then, he grabbed Harry and flew towards the sky of memories.
In the real world, Dumbledore held Harry's wrist, and their faces were lifted off the Pensieve.
"The situation is more complicated than I thought." Dumbledore sat down in a chair and took a sip of black tea in a sullen voice. He didn't even realize that there was no sugar in the tea.
"What's going on? Wouldn't it be better to just find that notebook?" Harry asked, sitting down opposite Dumbledore.
"It's not that simple. That's not an ordinary notebook; it's a Horcrux." Dumbledore said with a grim face. "A Horcrux is an extremely evil form of magic. A Horcrux can store a wizard's soul, but in return, each time a Horcrux is created, the wizard must kill someone to split their own soul, thus tearing off a piece of their soul to create the Horcrux. The purpose of these Horcruxes is to save lives; even if the main soul dies, those soul fragments can still live."
"So that means this so-called Horcrux is a kind of soul alchemy?" Harry naturally thought of soul alchemy when he heard the idea of making it with a soul.
"Yes, this is a matter of soul alchemy." Dumbledore acknowledged Harry's statement, then added, "But I don't think Miss Granger has the ability to deal with Horcruxes. The magical principles behind Horcruxes are extremely profound. Miss Granger is only 12 years old. Even if she has learned to separate souls and can separate Voldemort's soul from Serena's body, I don't think she can understand these things."
Harry chuckled. "That's the limitation of you as a powerful wizard. Why bother understanding Horcruxes? They're not good things anyway. We just need to learn how to destroy them."
Dumbledore, after being struck by Harry's words, realized he was stuck in a fixed mindset: why bother understanding this thing, as long as he could destroy it? "Harry, how's your Fiendfyre spell coming along?"
"Releasing just a little bit can control the fire, but any bigger and it won't work," Harry said, his eyes suddenly lighting up. "You mean, Fiendfyre can destroy Horcruxes."
Dumbledore smiled and nodded. Although he didn't know how many Horcruxes Voldemort, that ruthless guy, had made, now that he had found the first one, going from 0 to 1 would be much easier.
"So, the problem now is, how do we get the notebook from Serena?"
"I think you're more familiar with this than I am, so I'm leaving it to you."
"Give me the money."
"Don't worry, you'll get your share."
......
The two were enthusiastically discussing the Horcrux and the reward, while Dobby had already slowly woken up; the physique of magical creatures was indeed extraordinary.
"Where...where am I?" Dobby blinked, looking at the unfamiliar surroundings.
"I almost forgot about you." Harry and Dumbledore turned to look at Dobby.
"Harry, what do you want to do with it?" Dumbledore indicated that he wouldn't interfere with Harry, after all, this guy was after Harry.
“I don’t think I need a servant,” Harry said, “especially an unfaithful one, but he has provided us with valuable intelligence.”
Harry thought about it and ultimately decided not to issue an ultimatum without permission, after all, this guy wasn't his servant.
"Here's what we'll do: after the school year ends, we'll hand it over to Lucius and let him handle this mess. In the meantime, Old Deng, could you help make some arrangements?"
"The right decision, Harry."
