Harry Potter, the savior of Night City
Chapter 56 I'm just an ordinary ice cream seller.
"Hey, is this the car you called?"
Less than five minutes after Harry raised his wand, a blue double-decker bus appeared in front of him as if it had driven the S.A.R.S.A ...
"Yes." Harry lifted the luggage cart and placed it on the "Leaky Cauldron" bar under the ticket seller's surprised gaze.
"Eleven Sicos, if we add..."
"Stop, stop, stop, it's only a few kilometers, I'm going to light an egg."
"No choice, the boss insisted." The ticket seller took a Galleon from Harry, gave him change, and then turned to the driver and shouted, "Leaky Cauldron!"
"Let's go," said the driver, speaking from a small head hanging on a hook.
Harry randomly found a seat and sat down. Then, he was hit with the incredible push of the bus, and the scenery outside the window flashed past him like a rocket.
In less than two minutes, we arrived at the Leaky Cauldron.
Harry got off the bus carrying his luggage and pushed open the dilapidated wooden door of the bar, which was full of the marks of time. The owner, Tom, was working as a bartender behind the bar.
"Hey, Harry!" He heard the door open and looked up to see Harry pushing a luggage cart, giving him a big surprise.
"Hey," Harry replied casually, pushing his luggage to the bar. "Do you have any spare rooms? Give me one."
"Yes, of course." Tom put down the glass he was wiping and started rummaging through the cabinet under the bar. Finally, he handed Harry a key engraved with "207". "Here you go, 25 siscos a day, but for you, 20 will do."
"I'll pay for it all before school starts," Harry said, taking the keys.
"Okay, oh, right, I have a few letters for you here, take them." Tom hurriedly ran to the back room, took out a stack of letters and handed them to Harry. "They were delivered by a few owls, and they said to give them to you when you come."
"My letter?" Harry took it from Tom and pushed his luggage toward the stairs. "Okay, thanks."
Harry picked up his luggage again and went into the room he had just booked.
It must be said that although the Leaky Cauldron was, well, full of the marks of time, at least the rooms were very clean. The first thing Harry did upon entering the room was to release Hedwig, who hadn't been released for a long time.
The white owl flew out of its cage and pecked Harry's head repeatedly, as if to avenge the time it had lost its freedom, before flapping its wings and flying out the window.
"Alright, let's see whose letters these are." Harry sat on the bed and took out a stack of letters.
"The first one, Ron's. Let me see. His dad got his hands on a car? And he's modifying it?"
"Invited to his house?" Harry thought for a moment, then decided to decline. "I'll just stay in Diagon Alley." Harry felt there was no need to cause trouble, after all, from what he had seen so far, Ron's family seemed to be a little, well, strapped for cash.
"Okay, this one, Hermione's..."
......
The last letter was from Hogwarts, and it contained his reading list for the semester.
"Lockhart, Lockhart, Lockhart, Lockhart..." Harry scrolled down the list. The books for the other subjects were fine, but when it came to Defense Against the Dark Arts, they were all Lockhart books, and each one wasn't cheap.
"Is this thing some kind of Mewtwo star? How come it's all his?" Harry was very puzzled. "It's not like the 'Watson and the Phoenix' kind of thing, is it?"
Harry tossed the book list aside, took out a pen and paper, along with a bottle of vodka, from his suitcase, and sat down at the table to reply to Ron and Hermione, though he would have to wait for Hedwig to return before he could send them.
As for summer homework, who does homework anyway? Harry had completely forgotten about it long ago.
-------
"One more, boss," Harry called out to Florin Fosco, sitting on a chair outside the ice cream shop, holding up his empty ice cream cup.
"Or the giant version with five balls and sprinkled with crushed nuts?"
"right."
"Okay."
Harry took the large cup of ice cream from the vendor and ate it bite by bite. He had to admit, the vendor really knew how to make ice cream; it was indeed delicious. What was even more perfect was that the vendor had a deep understanding of the history of the magical world and could tell it in an interesting way, especially the history of the goblin rebellion, which sounded like he had experienced it firsthand. Eating ice cream while listening to the story was a truly comfortable way to spend these peaceful days.
"Harry?" The shopkeeper suddenly noticed the engraved defensive runes on Harry's wrist.
"?" Harry looked up, looking at Florin with a puzzled expression.
"You, can I take a look at that thing on your wrist?" Florin scratched his head sheepishly. "I can give you a discount, really."
"Okay, here you go." Harry didn't mind; in this magical world, he could carve as many as he wanted.
"Thank you." Florin took the rune from Harry and examined it carefully against the light.
"Did you carve this yourself?"
"I..."
"It's really good, the craftsmanship is really good, Harry, you're a genius!" Florin praised sincerely. "But there are still some minor flaws." He bent down and held out his hand to Harry.
"Look, here," he said, pointing to the rune Harry had carved. "'ᚦ', this character, you used too much force to carve the tail part, thinning the magical energy path here. However, you used a lot of magic to cover up this flaw. But if you used less energy, the efficiency would be much higher..."
Harry was also drawn in, leaning closer to Florin to listen to his explanation. It has to be said, he was a genius, a historical genius. He was knowledgeable not only of ancient history, but also of ancient writing and ancient magic. In fact, when he was explaining things, he seemed to be a person from that era.
Florin's explanation lasted a long time. By the time Harry came out of his shop, it was already dusk. He looked down at the many suffixes that had appeared on the runes he had carved: "ᚺᚫᚱᛞ" (hard), "ᛇ" (regeneration), "ᚢ" (endurance), and "ᛉ" (external defense).
"Damn, Florin, you're way more reliable than that old man," Harry couldn't help but say to Florin.
"Hahaha, it's nothing, I'm just an ordinary ice cream vendor."
Harry returned to his room and had just sat down in a chair when...
"Bang, bang, bang."
There was a knock on the window. Harry turned to look and saw a greyish-yellow owl with a letter in its beak. Harry opened the window, and the owl fell in from outside, landing on the ground unconscious.
Harry picked up the owl and put it on the table, gave it some water, and the owl slowly woke up.
After feeding it some food, Harry began to read the letter it had delivered.
It was Ron's letter. He expressed his regret that Harry couldn't come to his house, but his family would be coming to Diagon Alley to buy things in a few days and wanted Harry to give him a meeting address. Harry thought about it and finally told them to come to the Leaky Cauldron, where they could also pack their things. After writing the letter, Harry turned to look at the extremely old owl. He couldn't bear to let the old man deliver the letter again, so he handed it to Hedwig and asked her to take the old owl to deliver the letter to Ron and his family.
-------
"Harry Potter, where are you...?" In an empty alley, an unknown creature wearing a tattered pillowcase, with big ears and big eyes, was searching for Harry everywhere.
"Dobby, Dobby can't find Harry Potter, Dobby can't remind him, Dobby is a bad elf!" With that, he banged his head against the wall.
