Harry Potter, the savior of Night City
Chapter 51 I knew it wouldn't be that simple
"You idiots, you're all a bunch of idiots! If this information gets out, I'm fired! And not just me, none of you will get away with this! You're all doomed!"
The man's roar echoed throughout the intelligence department. In his voice, besides anger, there was also an overwhelming fear. He had planned the capture of Harry all along without telling his superiors. He thought that if he told them after it was successful, he would at most get a few words of criticism, but the gains would far outweigh the losses. He had thought it was foolproof and had never taken Harry and his crew seriously. But now, such a serious information leak had been discovered by his superiors, and he would be skinned alive.
"Minister, could it be a problem with the database?" a young employee asked, turning to the minister.
"Nobody's ever gone up there! With so many genetically engineered soldiers, how could they not see a single mercenary?!" Leon shouted angrily. Aside from their incredibly low intelligence, those genetically engineered soldiers were otherwise quite capable. To prevent them from being turned by the enemy, each of them was equipped with friend-or-foe identification; surely they couldn't have been fooled by something like that. "Are you going to say that this mercenary can fucking use magic?! If that's true, I'm telling you, I'll eat your computer right in front of you!"
Harry, who was listening outside the door, almost laughed. "Alright, go ahead and eat. You can eat now." He pulled a grenade from his pocket, bit off the pin with his teeth, and threw it into the room. The red grenade spun around and landed on the ground, spinning a few times before stopping in the center of the room.
"Damn it, hasn't that damn gorilla number 24 had enough fun yet? Where did you take this part from outside?!" He didn't immediately think it was a grenade. His first thought was that the gene-stacking soldier he had just shooed away had taken something from outside and brought it back for him to play with.
"boom!"
The grenade exploded amidst his angry roar, and the huge flames engulfed him and several employees around him. The other surviving employees were stunned, sitting in their chairs in a daze, their brains unable to process what was happening for a moment.
Harry activated the Sinwidman and ran into the house to check if Leon was still alive. Unsurprisingly, he was dead beyond dead; he had lost his life because of his arrogance.
Looking at the remaining employees in the intelligence department, Harry didn't let them off the hook either. Each of them was shot in the forehead. In order to destroy all the data about him and their squad, Harry refused Lucy's request to delete the data one by one. He took out the remaining grenades and threw them into the pile of computers. That's it, data destruction (physical).
Next up is the experimental zone.
Harry got back into the elevator. It was too easy. Destroying the intelligence department was too easy. Apart from one genetically modified soldier who was a bit tricky, everything else was too easy. They didn't even have a professional security team to protect them.
Thinking this, they arrived at the 29th floor. The elevator doors slowly opened, and after stepping out, Harry was faced with another problem: the rooms surrounding the elevator were all part of the research department, but he couldn't find out what each room was for.
"Damn it, Lucy, what do we do now? I can't just search room by room." Harry asked Lucy. He only had ten minutes left. The shielding program that Lucy and Kivy wrote could only be used for half an hour. If they wasted too much time here, the gene-stacking soldiers on the first floor would receive the alarm signal and rush up immediately. At that time, not to mention Pila and Rebecca, even he might not be able to escape with magic.
"Search those big rooms first." Lucy marked a few locations for Harry. "Human experimentation requires a lot of space, especially for monsters with huge bodies like the ones you mentioned, which would require even more space."
"Got it," Harry replied, then activated Sionstein and ran towards the marked rooms.
In the first room, rows of genetically modified plants danced wildly, their tempers even more volatile than the Willow Tree. Several researchers were helplessly caught by the vines, swaying in the air. If this were the world of "Watson and the Phoenix," some more amusing things would happen.
The second room is planted with the culprit that forces everyone in Night City to eat synthetic food: Alkyl Wheat. To grow these crops that provide high-performance fuel, 90% of Night City's farmland is planted with Alkyl Wheat, causing the price of native food to skyrocket, making it unaffordable for most Night City residents.
Then came the non-human prosthetics in the third room... the genetically modified animals in the fourth room... until the sixth room was marked.
Lucy couldn't crack the door no matter what she tried; the door's sealing technology was too advanced, so it seemed there really was something inside.
"Damn, why is this electronic lock so hard!" Lucy cursed under her breath.
Upon hearing Lucy's words, Harry suddenly realized something. "Lucy, you mean, this thing has an electronic lock, right?"
"Yes, what's wrong?"
"An electronic lock, it's a lock, right?"
"How could you ask such a stupid question? An electronic lock is obviously a lock." Lucy expressed her utter incomprehension of Harry's question.
"In that case..." Harry thought, conjuring a wand in his palm and pointing it at the crack in the door. "Open Alahoko."
A beam of white light shot from the tip of the wand into the crack in the door, and with a "click," the door that Lucy had been unable to break through opened.
"No, you, I... I'm not..." Lucy's brain was a bit blank. What was the principle behind this? What was that little stick just now? What was the Alaho Cave? Was it a new type of hacker prosthetic?
Ignoring Lucy's malfunction, Harry grabbed the gap in the door that was partially unlocked, pulled it to the right, and then ran inside, using S.A.W.S.A.
The room was large, but not empty. On both sides of the room were four-meter-high incubation tanks, with giants about the same height as Jamie Wick huddled inside, breathing tubes inserted into their faces. Complex instruments next to them displayed the vital signs of these giants. One or two researchers were operating each incubation tank. Between every two tanks was a clean white room where people were imprisoned. These people were mostly children around 15 years old, but there were also some adults like Jamie. Their eyes were vacant, and they all had prosthetics on their heads for unknown purposes.
Harry was driving the S.A.S.A.S.S.S.S., scrutinizing the faces of every researcher, searching for the most important target: Adrian Moore.
"Found it!"
Adrian was operating something in front of a giant's incubation tank when Harry flicked out his mantis knife with his right hand and charged at Adrian. He raised the knife high and slashed down at Adrian, splitting him in two.
"Aren't there any guards in a place like this?" Harry was very puzzled. How could it be so easy?
Sure enough, as soon as Adrian died, alarms sounded throughout the building. These researchers were equipped with monitoring devices, and their deaths within the company would trigger the alarm for the entire organization.
"I knew it. Killing is the easiest thing. The hard thing is to kill someone and still escape." Harry immediately told Lucy to tell Rebecca and the others to find a way to escape. They shouldn't take the elevator, as the security guards and soldiers were on their way from the elevator. He fired a few shots at the researchers, threw two grenades, and then ran out the door.
Unfortunately, how could such an important place as this floor be without security? A huge figure appeared at the door in the blink of an eye, and a hand that had been transformed into a hammer slammed into Harry's stomach.
"You fucking hit me again!" Harry didn't dodge and was punched, flying backward and landing in the pile of wrecked, fire-breathing experimental equipment and dead giant corpses behind him.
