Chapter 93 Captain, Jon asked me to pass on a message to you.
"This task is good."
Fury picked up the pager beside him, pressed the call button, and instructed, "Hill, assign this task to Garrett. He hasn't been on fieldwork for six months."
"Understood, sir."
The adjutant, Hill, pushed open the door, took the documents, and turned to leave.
According to S.H.I.E.L.D. regulations, all high-ranking agents must carry out a mission at least once every six months.
In the past, given Garrett's health condition, Fury would always assign him some easy tasks.
John Garrett's years of experience as a secret agent have caused him to suffer from kidney failure, and he will not be able to handle field missions.
But this time is different.
Recently, Fury noticed some subtle anomalies in the accounts, which seemed unusual.
These minor issues on the books caused him, who had an extremely strong desire for control, to feel an unprecedented sense of unease.
After investigating, he discovered that a group of agents within S.H.I.E.L.D. were acting very suspiciously.
They frequently travel between a certain island nation and one of the world's largest countries.
What was it about those two countries that attracted them?
These unusual phenomena have already alerted Fury, the king of secret agents.
But whenever he tried to delve deeper into these strange things, he always encountered invisible resistance.
Or perhaps something else suddenly happened that overwhelmed him, and gradually, the seeds of doubt began to grow in his heart.
Today's phone call from Jon Snow completely confirmed his suspicions, a suspicion he didn't want to imagine.
But he still needs the last piece of the puzzle, and now Jon is about to give it to him.
Meanwhile, directly below Fury's office, in Garrett's office.
John Garrett, an eighth-level agent, was staring blankly at the mission document in his hand.
But as time went on, a hint of excitement gradually appeared on Garrett's lips.
As a veteran member of Hydra, the skill of lying low is second nature to him.
Recently, the identity of the clairvoyant has been at risk of being exposed, and he needs an excuse to leave and avoid the limelight.
Now, Fury's orders were exactly what he wanted.
When the storm has passed, he will naturally return quietly.
"Thanks, Fury." Garrett chuckled, tapping the file with his fingertips. "But this mission..."
'
As a Level 8 agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Garrett naturally has his own team.
So he decided to delegate the task to his subordinates to handle it, just like usual, and only put up a nominal position without having to do any work himself.
His smug expression froze the moment he glanced at the task list at the end of the document.
The document stated the words "Task Designated Personnel".
The above contains:
Advisors, Jon Yowick (Level 7 Agent), Eric Brooks (Level 8 Agent), Phil Coulson (Pilot), Melinda May (Commander), John Garrett. "Wozfak!" Garrett stared at the list, completely stunned. "These guys...is Fury asking me to steal a nuclear bomb?"
What configuration is this?
The combination of the ruthless Blade Runner, the enigmatic JoJo, and finally, the iron-clad Melinda Mei, is simply too abnormal.
He suppressed his surprise and doubt, and glanced at the mission summary, which read: Mission: Go to Norway to retrieve an unknown item, item number 084.
"Oh, damn it."
Garrett complained, still unaware that he was being watched.
I thought it was just an ordinary mission, only the personnel were a bit too luxurious.
That evening—in Brooklyn, at Jon's home, Jon was happily eating the takeout Skye had ordered, the delicious food briefly healing his bad mood.
Suddenly, a rhythmic knocking sounded on the door.
"Who is it?" Skye looked up from the pizza box, a little confused. "Late at night...could it be a robbery?"
""
"If a robber wanted to rob you, would they knock on the door?" Jon rolled his eyes and stood up. "It would be my friend."
"Don't rush, let me check first." Skye immediately leaned towards the window, then suddenly exclaimed in a low voice, "My God! There are two luxury cars parked downstairs!"
"That's right." Jon opened the door directly.
Sure enough—Tony Stark and Phil Coulson were standing in the doorway, the latter holding a Boston Terrier chewing gum.
"Woof! (Junior! You've finally got to beg me!)"
Iggy grinned at Jon, his dog-like face radiating smugness.
"Yes, I need to ask you for a favor later." After Jon finished speaking, he raised an eyebrow and looked at Tony: "Uh, it's you guys."
"
"You need something from us? Then you..." Tony put his arm around Coulson's shoulder and peered inside, "Aren't you going to invite us in?"
"Please come in."
Jon stepped aside to let the three people and the dog into the house, and after he carefully checked the street situation, he gently closed the door.
"Wow! Tony Stark!" Skye exclaimed in surprise upon seeing the newcomer. "You remember me?"
Tony stopped, straightened his collar with a flourish, and gave a look of sudden realization.
"Of course I remember, that beautiful lady."
"Tsk." Jon said to Coulson in a low voice, expressionless. "I bet ten dollars he doesn't even remember who Skye is."
"I believe you." Coulson nodded, unsurprised. "Let's get down to business; we don't have much time."
That makes sense.
"Skye, excuse me for a moment." Jon walked over to Tony, hooked his arm around his neck, and smiled. "We need to get down to business."
And so, the three of them and the dog walked into the bedroom together, much to Skye's bewilderment.
In the bedroom, Tony looked around and finally chose to sit on Jon's bed.
"Stop keeping us in suspense, just tell us," Tony urged. "Why did you call us here?"
"Then I won't keep you in suspense any longer," Jon said, turning to face the two of them. "I think there's something wrong with S.H.I.E.L.D."
"The problem?" Tony and Iggy both looked at Coulson. "What do you mean?"
"Me? What?" Coulson pointed at himself, shrugging. "I don't see anything wrong with it."
"Don't interrupt, Tony," Jon said seriously. "S.H.I.E.L.D. is definitely in trouble, and Fury has already noticed."
Seeing how serious Jon was, the two of them immediately straightened up and became serious as well.
As the world's largest intelligence organization, the turmoil within S.H.I.E.L.D. means that countries around the world will be plunged into chaos.
The agents, who already lacked a sense of security, would scatter and flee, and the influx of these well-trained individuals into society would trigger a huge crisis.
This forces the government to allocate some agents to monitor these agents, and the panic caused by these agents will spread among them.
"First, I suspect John Garrett, and Fury agreed with me, arranging for us to interrogate him tomorrow."
"Then what did you call me here for? Uh, what use are we, me and this dog?" Tony went straight to the heart of the matter, injecting a dose of blood.
"Good question." Jon looked at Coulson. "Phil, could you investigate the disappearances of the reserve agents?"
"no problem."
Colson nodded knowingly.
"As for you, Iggy, you can stay at my place for the time being," Jon said, turning to Iggy and pleading. "Consider it a favor I owe you."
"Woof woof!" (Just come back and tell me about Polnareff), Iggy barked.
"Deal. As for you, Tony," Jon continued, "I need a device to disable the bombs in their brains."
"This is a piece of cake for me, so you called me over in the middle of the night for something so trivial?"
"No, that's secondary." Jon gave a sly smile. "I have something personal to tell you—Pepper told you about tomorrow, didn't she?"
Upon hearing this, Coulson's eyes widened in disbelief.
"I told you," Tony asked warily, "what do you want?"
Jon grinned, his eyes full of amusement, and said, "I'd like to ask you to use your foul mouth to make fun of some old American popsicle."
