Chapter 38 Deep Waters and Mystery!
(Please, guys, anything! Mua.)
"Interesting. Stand users really do attract each other." Jon gripped the steering wheel tighter. "You can even bump into someone while having a drink in the West."
Suddenly, he realized something and frowned slightly.
"But how did he find me? Never mind, I'll deal with that first!"
"Activate autopilot!" he slammed his hand on the center console, adding, "And how do we wake Coulson up quickly?"
"Autonomous driving has been activated," the onboard AI responded emotionlessly. "I recommend injecting XJ-1876."
Before he finished speaking, a vial of medicine popped out.
Seeing this, Star Platinum appeared, picked up the potion, and precisely inserted the needle into Coulson's neck.
"Ah!" Coulson sat bolt upright with a start, his eyes quickly regaining their clarity. "Jon! What happened?"
"It's a Stand attack!" Jon stared intently at the thick fog outside the window. "We're being targeted."
"A Stand?" Coulson's brow furrowed. "What the hell is that?"
"Simply put, it's the manifestation of mental power," Jon said impatiently, waving his hand. "Like my Star Platinum."
"That purple giant from Fury's report?"
Coulson suddenly realized what was happening, and his expression changed drastically. "Wait, Jon!"
"Look over there!" he pointed to the air conditioner vent. "Mist!"
Jon immediately turned his head to look, and saw wisps of mist seeping in from the ventilation ducts.
"Damn it!" Jon quickly scanned his surroundings and made a judgment, "Run in the direction the car is heading! Quick!"
What is certain now is that this Stand is not very destructive; as long as it leaves the area, there is still a chance!
The two immediately shoved open the car door and rushed into the thick fog.
After a frantic sprint, the fog in front of them suddenly parted, forming a passage that eventually led straight to a Gypsy tent.
The two of them stopped abruptly.
Coulson stopped, panting, and pointed to the convertible in the distance, saying:
"Is this considered an invitation?"
"possible."
Jon stared at the swaying tarpaulin at the end of the passage, where the Star of Platinum was already appearing behind him.
"Prepare a gift for our first meeting."
Just then, Coulson suddenly grabbed Jon's arm and said with a serious expression:
"Wait! Look at that tent... doesn't it look like the death fortune teller from the intelligence report?"
Jon narrowed his eyes, his gaze scrutinizing.
The exaggerated embroidered patterns on the tent in front of him were exactly the same as those in the photos Coulson had shown him.
"It's her." Jon's voice turned somber. "The intelligence reports that everyone she's consulted seems to have..."
"They strangled themselves," Coulson retorted, his fingers unconsciously reaching for his suit pocket. "And they're even smiling? That's really creepy."
Realizing something was amiss, Coulson prepared to call for backup.
"I think I understand something."
Jon Snow suddenly turned his head to look at it, then turned back, a knowing glint in his eyes.
"I see, we really came full circle."
"Jon, don't make any rash moves. I need to call for backup."
Coulson finally pulled his phone out of his inner pocket, and as he spoke, he looked up, only to be completely dumbfounded.
It turned out that Jon was already ten meters away while he was speaking.
He was walking towards the death fortune teller!
"Jon!" Coulson exclaimed in shock, nearly dropping his phone.
"Are you crazy?!" He looked at the unreachable phone with a hesitant expression.
He then resolutely rushed over.
In front of the tent, Jon's fingertips crackled with electricity.
The feedback from the ripples confirmed to him that there was indeed someone among them.
"Playing tricks." The moment he lifted the curtain, Platinum Star was already poised to strike.
"I'd like to see what cheap tricks you're going to pull."
In the dim candlelight, a Gypsy woman with many bracelets was shuffling cards.
Upon seeing the visitor, a smile played on her lips beneath the veil: "Would you like your fortune told, young man?"
"Save your breath," Jon said in a low voice, his eyes narrowing. "Star Platinum!"
"Euro!"
Platinum Star throws a punch!
boom.
But this feels completely wrong!
Upon realizing this, Jon's pupils constricted sharply.
At this moment, mist was slowly seeping from the edge of the woman's head in front of him, while her hands shuffling the cards never stopped.
This thing is a mannequin made of mist!
"Mist?" Jon realized something, a hint of mockery flashing in his eyes. "This isn't your true form, I see."
He spoke with his arms crossed and an elegant tone, as if the tent in front of him were his home turf.
"It seems your Stand is weak; it will take a long time to kill someone."
"What a weak and boring substitute."
"Jon Yowick, not everyone can have a Stand as powerful as you."
The Gypsy woman's smile beneath her veil was incredibly stiff; Jon was putting too much pressure on her!
And that imposing Stand too! Damn it!
But since things had come to this, she could only force herself to say:
"Come and do a divination, Jon Yowick, or you'll never have escaped from here."
"Nigel (run away)?" Jon's nonchalance vanished completely as he stared intently at the woman before him.
Jon's eyes were filled with realization; Enya's words had touched upon painful memories for him.
He pointed at her and said:
"No matter what kind of Stand it is, even if I encounter a god, I, Jon Yowick, will never run away again!"
"Oh?" The Gypsy woman narrowed her eyes slightly. "I thought the information from the Stand was fake."
"I never expected that someone as naturally strong as you would actually escape. Hahaha."
"Very well, my name is Meryl Enya. Now, young man, draw your card."
"Let me see your fate, and then I'll kill you!"
"Alright, let's draw some cards."
Enya reached out and placed the shuffled tarot cards in front of Jon, gesturing for him to draw one.
"Then let me see what tricks you're up to." Jon reached out and casually drew a card.
Even Jon didn't need to look; he knew what tarot cards he had drawn—it was nothing more than the Star card.
"So you want to know some of my secrets? What good will it do you if you find out?"
Jon confidently flipped the tarot cards, revealing the image on them—and it was indeed—
"The Star Card!" Enya exclaimed with a smug look on her face. "A Stand with hints of the Star Card?"
"I see!"
"Jon!" Coulson, who had been hesitating outside for a long time, finally rushed in.
The moment he saw Enya, he drew his pistol and emptied the magazine at her.
Bang bang bang! But it had no effect whatsoever!
"No way!!!" Enya stood up frantically. "Chirp chirp chirp, my Smoke on the Water is invincible!"
(I'm terrible at naming things, ==)
"Now that you know your fate, then you will all die immersed in those memories!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the surrounding environment changed completely.
This is a deep, impenetrable forest, shrouded in thick fog, eerily silent.
In the heart of the forest.
Jon and Coulson stood back to back, keeping a watchful eye on their surroundings.
"Just as I thought." Jon's eyes sharpened. "Coulson, we're in a dream."
"That wretched woman, Enya, is probably hiding somewhere watching us make a fool of ourselves!"
In the real world, Enya curled her lips into a cold smile.
"You guessed right, Jon Yowick," she thought. "But so what? My double will soon take over your mind."
After saying that, she looked at the Chevrolet on the road with a mocking expression.
Inside the car, Jon and Coulson had already completely lost consciousness.
At the same time, wisps of mist were quietly entering their nasal cavities through their nostrils.
