Lord of Mysteries: Taiyi

Chapter 50 Step by Step

Backlund, 5 Dalavis Street.

With Fors's involvement, the students, who had already mastered a large portion of the Ruhnn vocabulary, began learning simple writing with Fors.

Like Kurt, Fors also sensed the hardships and difficulties the children faced during her teaching, and therefore assigned them a classwork assignment:

Describe your family using the words you've learned.

This was exactly what Kurt wanted to achieve by visiting the children's homes, as it allowed him to quickly understand their difficulties and provide targeted assistance.

Meanwhile, Kurt wasn't idle either. He started sketching some rather ugly drawings on scrap paper with a pencil, depicting Fors's classes, including the students and Hugh at the door. Kurt's initial assessment was that the role of "painter" would require drawing or recording some meaningful people or things...

After the lesson, Fors saw the painting; the perspective was terrible, and he blurted out instinctively:

"Hugh isn't that tall, and I'm not that fat... I'm sorry, Mr. Kurt."

After thinking about the person in front of him, Fol thought of helping him through the full moon of delirium and covered his mouth.

Kurt smiled and began to explain:

"I've recently fallen in love with drawing and wanted to record some meaningful scenes, but unfortunately, I haven't been doing it for very long."

Kurt folded the somewhat abstract sketch, looked up and saw Lucy walking with Hugh. The girl had been particularly attentive in class today, and kept looking at Kurt with gratitude.

Kurt smiled and said:

"Lucy, how is your father?"

Lucy smiled the most genuinely happy smile Kurt had ever shown her since they met:

"My father has fully recovered, and our family has converted to Buddhism with Mother Earth. We are extremely grateful for your help. My parents would like to thank you in person, but we don't know when you would have time!"

Feeling Lucy's sincere gratitude and respect, Kurt felt the potion digested a little more quickly.

Kurt crouched down, gently rubbed Lucy who offered no resistance, and said with a smile:

"I'll find some time to visit you tomorrow."

He paused for a moment, then added, thinking of the "four points" that might appear at any time:

"If I don't come, then something's happened. I'll let you know the new time tonight. Will your sister still pick you up today?"

Lucy nodded, her freckled face once again flushed with worry.

"My mother had to do laundry for others, and my father also went out to do odd jobs."

Kurt paused for a moment, then asked:

"Didn't I leave you a pound and say I needed your help?"

Lucy recalled:

"Mom and Dad said we can't put all our hopes on others. If you don't choose Dad, we'll be in trouble again. We need to accumulate some wealth."

At this moment, Lucy, who was a little precocious, looked pleadingly at him and asked cautiously:

"You'll help us, right?"

Looking into the little girl's pure eyes and her innocent plea, Kurt's heart softened, and he said softly:

"Of course I will, I will help you, I will try my best to help all those who are suffering..."

"Of course, it's within my capabilities..." Kurt added helplessly to himself.

Lucy seemed moved by Kurt's words and said somewhat excitedly:

"When I grow up, I want to strive to be like Mr. Kurt, and I also want to help those who are suffering..."

Kurt felt that he had digested part of the potion.

Was it because he felt the significance of education...? Kurt silently savored the feeling of his will being inherited, and it felt good.

I also came to understand part of the meaning of the alternative name for "teacher" – "mentor".

Fors, who had been watching this scene, forcibly suppressed the urge to take out her notebook and write it down. She bent down slightly and whispered to Hugh:

"I want to write what I'm seeing into my novel."

……

Because the last full moon appeared suddenly, and the next full moon is three days later, Kurt's plan is to suspend the day's classes to deal with Bill and then go directly to Fors. He did this to avoid Hugh's usual place, and Hugh will follow him.

After that, he will express his desire to attend the Extraordinary Gathering, and have the two ladies take him to Mr. A's gathering so that he can first use his own strength to find the wings of the Seven-Colored Illusionary Cicada, in preparation for the potion later...

It was already 12:30 when he got home. Kurt didn't do anything else. After a quick wash, he went to bed.

The next day, Kurt saw Carter, who was in a very low mood, being held in Mrs. Saliz's arms by Mrs. Saliz, who had arrived at the church early, and they were talking intimately to each other.

Seeing that Carter had someone to comfort him, Kurt greeted the bishop with peace of mind and then went to Melanie to begin his lesson for the day. Melanie's mental state had improved significantly after changing her accommodations, and even her tone of voice during lessons had become more lively.

She also said that she had found some vampires and was in contact with the local vampire leaders. Kurt, due to his excellent learning ability, had basically finished learning Hermes and was beginning to learn Ancient Hermes and related knowledge.

In the afternoon, he found a law firm, drafted a contract according to his ideas for 2 pounds, and went to Lucy's house.

Finding that the beautiful Claire wasn't doing laundry and Kuhn wasn't going out to do odd jobs either, the whole family waited anxiously at home. Actually, given Kuhn's abilities, finding another job wouldn't be difficult. The main issue was that Kurt had saved their lives, so since he might need Kuhn's help, they would naturally wait for Kurt to come and hire them.

Kurt met Lucy, who was diligently memorizing words, and Fran, her older sister, who was tutoring her younger sister.

After a brief assessment of Kuhn's professional abilities and a divination confirming his capacity to manage a fund, Kurt signed a contract with him. Kurt paid Kuhn £150 as seed money and as an advance payment for their accommodation, leaving his own address.

He planned to have Kuhn start managing the fund first, helping a portion of the students at Kut Academy. His task was to accompany Kut on home visits to understand Kut's standards for assistance, and then leave Kut to help him accomplish this. Kut paid him £3.10 a week, roughly the same as his previous weekly wage, though he would receive a raise if he performed well.

As for expanding the fund's size, Audrey's help and investment will be needed...

Speaking of which, Hugh is probably going to be locked up in jail soon, but even if he doesn't, it won't have much of an impact. He can easily use the excuse of seeking investment to get close to Viscount Grelint and others...
