Lord of Mysteries: Taiyi
Chapter 45 Notes
Outside Lucy's house in the East District.
Hearing the commotion outside, Kurt frowned, put away the medicine, got up, and went out.
He saw a drunk man lying on the ground and a young police officer confronting him. The young officer was neatly dressed, of medium build, and had his short brown hair combed neatly.
Kurt felt he looked familiar, but couldn't quite place him.
Hugh was explaining to him what had just happened.
"He was drunk and was causing trouble here. This gentleman and I subdued him."
The young police officer looked at Kurt, who had just come out, with a surprised expression, and said with a slightly softened expression:
"Father Kurt, what are you doing here!"
Kurt raised an eyebrow and finally remembered that this young police officer was also a believer in Mother Earth, but he rarely came to church, probably only on Sundays.
"Who are you?" Kurt asked, though he had only met him once before and did not know his real name.
The young police officer smiled and said:
"My name is Pete, Father. I'm in charge of nighttime security on this street."
Kut nodded, squatted down, turned the man over, and casually plucked two strands of his hair, saying:
"You can ask this family for details about what happened."
Pete glanced at the unconscious drunkard on the ground, and his expression instantly turned grim.
He said angrily:
"It's that bastard Blair again. He's been harassing the Claire family for a while now, and I've already taken him to the police station once."
After saying that, he took out a pair of bracelets from behind his back, handcuffed Bly's hands behind his back, and stood up, looking at Kurt gratefully, saying:
"You are indeed as helpful as you are in the presence of the Lord. If it weren't for you today, Claire's family might have been in danger."
Curry nodded, then shook his head and asked:
"Claire and the others have only moved here for a month, so why was Blair released so quickly?"
Pete's face flushed when he heard Kurt's question. He scratched his head and said:
"This is not something I can decide. I can only obey my superiors' orders. But don't worry, I will take him back to the police station later, and I will do my best to protect Claire's family afterwards."
Hugh frowned and looked up to exchange a glance with Kurt.
Is there a gang or other organization behind Blair?
At this moment, Claire also came out with her two daughters.
After the explanation, with Kurt's consent, Pete waived the step of having Kurt and the others return to the police station together, and Kurt gave all the credit to the policeman.
After Pete left, Kurt saw Claire and two girls bow deeply to him, and then thanked him with tears in her eyes.
Kurt helped them up, glanced at his watch, and realized it was almost 12:30.
He took out the medicines and said with a smile:
"That curse could very well affect those who live with Kuhn. These vials of potion will ensure that you are not affected by the curse."
Before they could speak, Kurt took out another pound in cash, placed it on the table, and said:
"Just focus on living well first. Later, I might need your husband to help me with some things."
……
The horse-drawn carriage left the bridge area with a slight bump.
"I'll visit Lucy's family when I have time, to assess Kuhn's abilities. If he meets the requirements, I can entrust the charity fund's mission to him..."
The crimson moon hung silently in the night sky, which resembled a velvet curtain.
Kurt returned to his home around 2 p.m., went back to the third floor, and turned on the gaslight.
First, they went up to the door of the original owner's father's room and took out the key from the carpet.
He had no intention of going in late at night, so he went to the washroom to wash up quickly and then crawled into bed.
……
When Hugh returned to the apartment, he found that Fors was still awake and was absentmindedly reading a novel.
Upon discovering that Hugh had returned, she put down her novel and looked at him nervously, saying:
"Why are you only coming back now! I thought you'd been arrested. I was so scared that people from the church would come and get me."
Hugh removed his gear, sat down next to Fors who had straightened up, and spoke in familiar words:
You'd never guess what happened today.
This time, Fors didn't even have the mind to speculate. She raised her hands to grab Hugh's armpits, saying:
"Stop keeping me in suspense, has Mr. Kurt agreed or not?"
……
The next day
After having breakfast, Kurt gave everyone in the family a break. Once no one was home, Kurt prepared a set of all kinds of talismans before arriving at Cole Bard's door.
Taking out the sterling silver pendant, Kurt muttered to himself:
"It's dangerous to enter now, it's dangerous to enter now, it's dangerous to enter now."
After seven repetitions, the sterling silver pendant began to rotate counterclockwise, indicating that there was no danger.
Kurt felt a little relieved, took a deep breath, inserted the key into the lock, and opened Cole's room.
Upon opening the door, Kurt's first impression was that the room's layout was better lit than his own.
The room was simply furnished: a double bed without bedding, a desk, a bookshelf, a wardrobe, and a window overlooking the street.
After a reconnaissance... Faced with this scene, Kurt recalled the tabletop role-playing games from his previous life. He looked around and saw that the wardrobe was empty, and there were no other clothes in it, nor any miscellaneous items under the bed.
Walking up to the bookshelf that was as tall as Miss Hugh, Kurt flipped through it without much hope.
He first noticed a book called "Basic Etiquette for Nobles," and remembered that his father had always wanted to become a nobleman.
Then, while searching, Kurt unexpectedly discovered a notebook, which immediately piqued his interest.
This is a very thin notebook, covered with fine leather. Inside, there are some newspaper clippings, dating back 6 or 7 years or even longer, and at the end, there are some handwritten paragraphs in Rune.
Kurt glanced at the clippings and found they were of many kinds. There were studies on time, discussions about ideal worlds, and conjectures and studies about the Big Bang.
Are these things related? Kurt frowned slightly, not looking closely at what the reports said, but turning to the text.
"I can't believe there really is a perfect world where people are free, can develop freely, have unlimited lifespans, no lawlessness, no cold, no hunger, and no war."
"People are born only to experience the meaning of life, to experience the miracles of life... They call it the Ideal State!"
"I was deeply attracted to these theories. I knew they were just making it all up to trick me into joining the religion, but it really captivated me."
"I have no interest in those historical theories, even though I do want to see my dear wife again."
"It's true, it's all true!"
