Lord of Mysteries: Taiyi
Chapter 31 A Peaceful Day
Because the police informed him that the results for Carter's mother would probably not be available until tomorrow, Kurt stayed home all afternoon.
First, he improved the sunflower seeds, then he studied some humanities and history, and then he started writing lesson plans seriously like a real teacher, thinking about how to help students learn faster and how to impart knowledge better.
Because he had worked as a volunteer teacher in a previous life, he had experience in this field.
After finishing his lesson preparation in the afternoon, Kurt felt that the potion had indeed been digested, and Kurt nodded in satisfaction.
As for the "Painter's" recipe, he felt that his current level of understanding was not enough to obtain the names of the main ingredients, but he could "play" it in advance—that's the advantage of knowing the subsequent sequences beforehand.
So right now, Kurt is studying art and painting, and he also thinks about how to play the role of "painter" in his spare time. However, he has not yet become a Sequence Seven, so he cannot perceive whether the role is effective. But thinking about it in advance will definitely help him digest the information later.
Melanie's arrival didn't significantly disrupt Kurt's daily routine; he simply had to arrive at church promptly at 10 a.m. every day, which posed no difficulty for Kurt, whose biological clock was fixed.
At 6 p.m., after having dinner, Kurt waited for Bill and Hugh at the counter on the first floor. He then realized that he seemed to have no way to contact Hugh and could only wait for him here unilaterally...
But there's no rush. There's nothing I need to rely on Miss Hugh for right now. But I do need a messenger; it would be much more convenient... Maybe I can ask my teacher. If she has a solution, I won't have to use the method from the original story while facing suspicion. If not, I'll use the method Azik gave to Klein in the original story. If all else fails, I'll just blame it on Mother Goddess.
Speaking of which, as one of God's chosen ones, why didn't the Mother Goddess give me any divine pronouncements, only bestowing upon me a ring? According to the bishop, he could receive specific divine pronouncements from the Mother Goddess, such as coming to save him…
Could it be because of his own source matter? The Mother Goddess can't directly give me divine pronouncements, but she can hear my prayers? This makes no sense. In the end, lacking the necessary clues, Kurt had to suppress this doubt for the time being, after all, he was only a Sequence Eight...
In the afternoon, Bill, who was wearing black-rimmed glasses, first inquired about the situation at night school yesterday. After thinking it over, Kurt kept Carter's matter a secret.
Finally, Bill reminded Kurt to write to Lori before leaving.
On the way to the East End, Kurt noticed that Hugh seemed a little distracted. Looking at her messy, short blonde hair, Kurt said:
"Carter has been adopted by the Harvest Church and will be taught by the nuns and bishops there, so he doesn't need to go to night school anymore. Do you want to go to the church to confirm?"
Xiu looked up and forced a smile, saying:
"No need, I trust Mr. Kurt."
She stayed by Fors's side all night and during the day until Fors begged her to admit that she only heard those horrible babblings during the full moon and apologized for her previous deception. Only then did Hugh stop, so she is in a very bad mental state now.
After answering, she absentmindedly looked at the scenery outside the window...
Kurt asked at the opportune moment:
"Miss Deercha, what happened? You look a little tired."
Hugh had considered asking Kurt, who belonged to the church, for a solution, but she was afraid that if Kurt knew that Fors was on the verge of losing control every full moon, the church would probably arrest Fors and imprison her in the dungeon, or even purify her. So she rationally gave up the idea.
She responded politely:
"I'm fine, Mr. Kurt. I just didn't get enough rest yesterday, but of course, it has nothing to do with protecting you."
Kut nodded, knowing it wasn't the right time to let Hugh bring up Fors's question, and said nothing more.
Finally, they arrived at the school at 5 Dalavis Street right on time at 8 o'clock, where Kurt found some unfamiliar children and some adults dressed as workers.
It seems yesterday's lesson served as publicity. Kurt had originally planned to take 60 students, so he didn't refuse these children.
In the end, 15 more children joined, bringing the total number of students at Kurt's night school to 36. After observing them with his spiritual vision, he discovered that they were almost identical to the children from yesterday, all with some ailments and most of them being hungry...
After completing the registration, Kurt began today's lesson. With the addition of new students, he quickly reviewed yesterday's content and then assigned the new students to their original study groups so they could teach each other. Kurt and Hugh then began to walk around the classroom, answering the children's questions.
During the break, Kurt noticed that the children had started talking to each other and were no longer as lifeless as they had been the day before. Little Lucy, who had freckles on her face, took the initiative to approach Kurt, who was standing on the podium.
She asked timidly in her pleasant voice:
"Mr. Kurt, Carter from our group didn't come today."
Then she looked at Kurt with her gray eyes.
To prevent Lucy from getting too tired, Kurt knelt down and earnestly explained:
"Carter's parents have returned to the embrace of the Mother Goddess and are now being raised by the Church of the Earth Mother. They are living in the Harvest Church. He is doing well, so you don't need to worry."
Although Lucy was only a year older than Carter, she clearly knew more than Carter and knew what Kurt meant. She nodded with a touch of sympathy.
Kurt's squatting down made her feel a little uncomfortable, yet also quite comfortable. She glanced at Hugh by the door and asked cautiously:
"That lady seems to be in a bad mood."
What a good girl… Kurt thought to himself, and he stroked Lucy’s short brown hair and said with a smile:
"I don't know what happened either, but if Lucy comforts her, she'll definitely be very happy."
Lucy nodded, thanked Kurt, and then slowly moved over to Hugh's side to start a conversation.
When class resumed, Kurt noticed that Hugh's emotional state had indeed brightened a bit. Hugh had probably confided her troubles to little Lucy, since Lucy was only eight years old and she didn't have to think so much when confiding in her. However, confiding in Kurt was a completely different story. Lucy was also happy that she had helped Miss Hugh make a friend.
He didn't ask Lucy Hugh what she had said to her, but continued on his way as usual, using his extraordinary abilities to teach the children some words, and finally he mentioned some mathematical knowledge...
And so the day ended smoothly. Everyone, whether they were picked up by family or not, left without any further incidents.
After saying goodbye to Hugh, Kurt returned home before 1 a.m.
He originally thought that nothing else would happen before the next tarot session.
As a result, Leah arrived the next day.
