Chapter 9 Unbalanced Strike

Chapter 9 Unbalanced Strike

As Rhodes charged forward on horseback, the Ice Fang Wolf behind Peggy leaped up, letting out a piercing howl.

The predator's biological aura emanated from it, slowing the warhorse's steps, causing it to shake its head and neigh anxiously.

Seeing that the warhorse was about to stop, Rhodes stepped onto the horse's back and used the momentum of the charge to leap up.

At the same time, he drew the long sword from his waist.

That was the sword his father, Duke Bert, had given him. The blade was 1.2 meters long, with no edge on the sides, only the tip was sharpened to an extreme degree.

This is an armor-piercing sword, without any slashing ability; it was originally designed to pierce through heavy armor.

It is precisely in the Rhodes family's motto that there is that forward-moving "sharp blade".

Rhodes, sword in hand, landed with his knees bent, charged forward, and thrust his sword at Peggy's chest.

A deadly glint of cold light erupted from the tip of his sword.

At the same time, Peggy also drew her curved sword.

Faced with the approaching cold light, the solid muscles beneath his armor were already taut, like a winding snake coiled around his limbs.

He then gripped the sword with both hands and swung it upwards in a crescent-shaped slash, attempting to block Rhodes' thrust.

In his plan, he would use this strike to deflect the knight's sword upwards, creating a brief opening in front of him.

The next second, his powerful thigh will kick the opponent's armor, making the opponent pay the price for his reckless attack!

However, at the moment the swords clashed, Peggy's pupils contracted slightly, sensing something was wrong.

Unlike the flashy thrusting motion, the actual force was too weak.

This was a feint; I've been fooled!

On the contrary, his own swinging motion was too large, and he couldn't immediately retract it, revealing an opening during the collision.

As Rhodes's thrust was deflected, he clenched his other hand into a fist and slammed it into Peggy's chest.

Weakness strike!

The metal glove struck the breastplate with a dull thud.

Due to the robust protection of plate armor, coupled with the knights' skilled techniques, it is difficult for knights to directly break through each other's defenses in normal combat.

Often, it is through a fierce struggle of weapons that the opponent's stamina is exhausted, and after knocking him to the ground, the battle is sealed.

Rhodes, with the help of the Eye of True Sight, figured out his own way of fighting.

He can see through the opponent's physical weaknesses and use the recoil generated by close-range attacks and weapon parries to cause the enemy to lose their balance.

Just like now, under normal circumstances, with the protection of the chest armor, a mere punch would be nothing to Peggy.

But at that moment he felt a strong tingling sensation spreading from his torso, making it difficult for him to breathe.

Sensing something was wrong, Peggy was knocked back a step, gritted her teeth, gripped her scimitar, and slashed down at Rhodes' face.

But in mid-air, it was intercepted by a slender sword blade.

The force of the impact from the clash of weapons came from the hilt of the sword.

Peggy was horrified to discover that the tingling sensation in his torso spread to his arms under the influence of this force, causing his body to stiffen and making it difficult for him to move.

Rhodes stared at the other person. If the character's status was displayed, then the word "unbalanced" would be hanging above the other person's head, and they would be unable to move for the next second.

In a life-or-death duel, this one second can decide the outcome.

Rhodes gripped the blade at the top of the guard with his other hand, and thrust it downwards towards Peggy's heart.

"Move!" As she died, Peggy's face turned crimson as her blood boiled.

At the last moment, he forced his body to move amidst a roar.

The armor-piercing sword pierced through the armor, only the location changed from the heart to the left shoulder.

Seeing this, Rod kicked him in the chest, sending him flying, and in doing so, drew his sword.

"You're in good shape." Rhodes complimented Peggy as she rolled over, clutching her shoulder, and stood up in a disheveled state.

His opponent was much stronger than him, and was able to break the imbalance by bursting out of his body, which was indeed a powerful physique honed over a long period of training.

Unfortunately, the world is never fair.

The knight's decades of training were meaningless to the wizard, who could see through it with a single glance.

"At least I, a farming wizard, am willing to fight you with swords and blades, to have a real man's duel with cold weapons," Rhodes thought.

If it were any other type of wizard, they would probably just raise their hand and fire a fireball to end the battle as soon as they met.

The fight between the two, from the initial collision to the separation, was incredibly tense, but in reality, it only lasted less than three seconds.

The Iceblade Wolf behind Peggy sensed the danger to its master, extended its icy, transparent claws, and roared as it pounced.

But Noah, who had caught up, swept it away with a single sword strike.

"Get out of here, you beast!"

Following Noah was Knight Holmes, who stood beside Rhodes, staring at him in a daze.

"You've become a knight?" Holmes realized he had asked a stupid question.

Just now, the powerful rogue knight was almost instantly defeated.

"As you can see, welcome to Knight Rhodes's pioneering corps." Rhodes smiled and pointed to the battlefield over Noah's side. "Go help him out; I'll handle things here."

Unlike himself, Noah had only recently become a knight and would have difficulty dealing with a first-tier dire wolf on his own.

He's currently being pressured and beaten, and in his haste, his movements with the greatsword have become chaotic, and he's starting to fight wildly.

"As you wish." After a moment of stunned silence, Holmes drew his sword and bowed respectfully from the bottom of his heart.

The team's transformation from rookies to elites along the way, and the formidable strength Rhodes was displaying at that moment, finally made him understand.

It turned out that neither he nor anyone else had ever truly seen through this so-called second son of the gardener.

Now the other party has left the castle that bound him and has begun to show his glory!

Recalling the mighty name of that ruler, Holmes found himself seemingly transported back to more than a decade ago, feeling his heart pounding so clearly that he couldn't help but feel excited.

With the support of this elite knight, Noah finally stabilized, and the two of them worked together to suppress the demon wolf.

Rhodes turned his gaze back to Peggy.

The latter looked terrible; seeing that his pet couldn't help him, he could only hope for a fight from his subordinates around him.

However, under the continuous suppression of the shield and spear formation, these thieves were easily divided and killed, with most of them killed or wounded in the brief exchange.

The remaining people, upon seeing the corpses impaled by spears, lost their will to fight and fled in panic.

However, he was easily overtaken by a mounted knight squire and beheaded with a single sword stroke.

Seeing that her retreat was blocked by shield-spearmen, Peggy widened her eyes, took a deep breath, and planted her scimitar in the ground.

He then shouted:

"I surrender!"

"Sorry, I can't accept that."

"Wait, please give me a chance," Peggy said hastily. "Since you're here, you must be part of the pioneering knights heading to the North. I can join them and serve you! You'll also get a powerful demon wolf!"

Seeing that Rhodes remained unmoved, and even assumed a thrusting stance, he quickly added:

"I can conceal my identity and will never harm your reputation."

"Pull out your knife."

"Damn it, you bastard!" Peggy cursed angrily after hearing Rhodes' words, unable to understand why the other party was unwilling to accept her surrender.

The sword and the blade clashed once more.

Staring at the blade piercing her heart, Peggy could only widen her eyes in frustration, wanting to curse but unable to open her mouth.

"To me, loyalty is far more important than ability, and you are not qualified." Rhodes drew his sword, causing Peggy to fall helplessly to the ground.

He was going to build his own wizarding base, not to actually expand the kingdom's territory.

It doesn't matter if his subordinates are incompetent; he can always find a way to train them. Those who want to cause trouble are better off getting out of here as soon as possible.
