Chapter 24 Snowfield Beasts

Chapter 24 Snowfield Beasts

After inspecting the troops, Rod was leading his soldiers to hunt wild beasts around the foot of the mountain.

Using the raven's bird's-eye view, few animals on the ground within a kilometer of him can escape his search.

Especially those larger snowfield predators.

Looking down from the sky, amidst the vast stretches of pine, coniferous, and birch forests, Rod saw herds of fur-covered reindeer walking in groups.

They strolled slowly, munching on bushes, their large, forked antlers atop them.

The lead reindeer has a dreamy, deep blue fur, and its antlers are as clear and transparent as if sculpted from ice crystals.

Upon closer inspection, one can even see streaks of bright red blood pulsating within the antlers.

"The Ice Horned Deer, an evolved form of reindeer on the northern snowfields, is said to be a messenger of ice and snow, and its antlers are extremely valuable."

Rod glanced at it but ignored it.

This damn deer has an absurdly wide range of perception; if you get within a kilometer, it will immediately run away like a madman.

They completely ignored the other reindeer behind them.

Ordinary warhorses would be left in the dust in the snowy plains, their taillights barely visible; they were incredibly fast.

After losing the chase several times, Rod had no choice but to give up.

Besides reindeer herds, the snowfield is also home to ground squirrels, snow hares, yaks, winter wolves, and brown bears.

With winter approaching, large predators are increasing their hunting frequency significantly in order to store up fat to survive the cold.

Rod and his army had already cleared out many winter wolves and brown bears around the foot of the mountain.

They were all hungry wild animals that, after smelling the scent of humans, attempted to climb Pingdingshan Mountain to hunt.

Rhodes welcomed their arrival; their furs were sold to the fortress, their bone meal was used to make sandstone bricks, their blood was used to nourish the demon fields, and their meat was used to fill their bellies.

He was worried about the lack of reserves of various supplies.

"It would be even better if some Warcraft came to us willingly," Rhodes thought.

A few days later, his dream came true.

But there's a small problem: the one that's coming is a big one.

First-order apex, saber-toothed tiger!

Rod drew his sword, and the blade collided with the incoming sharp teeth, instantly sparking a blinding metallic flash.

A violent, overwhelming force, like a mountain collapsing and a tsunami crashing, emanated from the hilt of the sword and dissipated into the earth as he took a step back.

Compared to his relaxed response, the saber-toothed tiger was dizzy from the force of the recoil.

It was shaking its head incessantly, slowly retreating, a hint of hesitation showing in its murky beast eyes.

Rhodes sized up the beast before him. It was three and a half meters long, with gray-white fur, and large, bulging muscles on its limbs and back, making it look wild and ferocious.

The most striking feature is the two protruding long teeth in its mouth, which gleam with a cold light like daggers.

In terms of size, it's not much bigger than an adult Ice Blade Wolf, but their combat power is on completely different levels.

Iceblade Fang Wolves reach around the mid-tier of Tier 1 upon reaching adulthood.

The saber-toothed tiger, when fully grown, can reach the first apex of the ecological niche, making it a true apex predator in the northern periphery.

The underage white bread was hiding behind Rhodes, trembling with fear after being swept by the saber-toothed tiger's gaze.

She was rubbing pitifully against his feet, wishing she could hide inside his clothes.

"You are now a mature wolf, and you must learn to face your enemies on your own."

Rod grabbed it by the scruff of its neck, lifted it up, and threw it in front of him.

Not long ago, he had just turned the Iceblade Wolf he had captured into a potion to enhance the white bread.

The white bread is now two meters long, and the ice blades on its claws have fully grown, allowing it to learn the racial skill [Ice Blade Grinding].

It's already considered to be one of the stronger levels in the first-tier beginner level.

Rhode didn't expect it to defeat the saber-toothed tiger head-on, but at least it shouldn't hide behind him and should lend a hand during the battle.

The soldiers and other knights were not nearby.

This saber-toothed tiger was quite intelligent and exceptionally cunning; it would immediately flee whenever a large army approached.

If it weren't for the crows patrolling around the clock, several villagers like Rhodes would probably have been killed or injured before they discovered its existence.

To nip the danger in the bud and prevent the saber-toothed tiger from lurking at the foot of the mountain, Rhodes decided to take matters into his own hands.

While we're at it, let's give the white bread wolf a good workout; it's all it thinks about is dry rice.

Seeing Rhodes standing behind him watching him, White Bread mustered his courage and let out a low growl at the saber-toothed tiger.

The saber-toothed tiger stopped its slow retreat, its beastly eyes blazing with fury.

"Roar!" Provoked, the roar of the snowfield overlord echoed through the mountains and forests.

The sound spread like a tsunami. At that moment, except for the ravens on the branches, all the animals within a kilometer stopped moving and then scattered in fear, running around in panic.

The saber-toothed tiger pounced on the white bread. It could retreat before the powerful human, but it would not tolerate the provocation of the weak.

On the eve of its death, the white bread, taking advantage of its small size and agility, managed to dodge the attack in a last-minute scramble.

He then used the ice blades of his claws to slash across the opponent's thigh.

The sharp claws, sharpened by the [Ice Blade], successfully tore open the saber-toothed tiger's fur, leaving three bloody claw marks on the outside of its thigh.

But it wasn't fatal; the saber-toothed tiger stared at it indifferently.

Once it gets close, it will crush the stupid wolf's head in the next second!

It was at this moment that Rod made a move.

Raven's Feather!

After losing half his weight, he unleashed twice his original speed, instantly disappearing from his spot.

The distance between them shrank in the blink of an eye.

A fist protected by a steel glove slammed into the saber-toothed tiger's side, and as it lost its balance, a kick landed on its back.

Caught off guard, the saber-toothed tiger was flung to the side.

"Well done." Rod touched the white bread that had fallen to the ground.

Then he looked at the saber-toothed tiger lying on the ground. Under his attack on the weak spot, the tiger would not be able to get up for a while.

Although saber-toothed tigers are the overlords of the snowfields, they are far easier to deal with than Extreme Knights.

Compared to human knights, monsters are generally much weaker.

After the battle, soldiers from afar arrived and imprisoned the saber-toothed tiger.

Rhodes's gaze met that of the saber-toothed tiger, which was firmly chained in its cage.

Unlike the Iceblade Wolf, Rhodes did not intend to kill it.

Most magical beasts are quite intelligent. The Ice Blade Fang Wolf harbored hatred for Rhodes because its kin were killed, making it impossible to form a contract with it.

Although this saber-toothed tiger also felt anger and resentment, it did not harbor the most troublesome hatred.

Rod was confident that as long as he kept the animal for a while, it would understand the beauty of home.

I guarantee it will cling to my leg, crying and begging to stay.

Rhodes was smiling happily when he suddenly shuddered as Lily fed him a treat of white bread. He looked up sharply, his head darting around in confusion.

"Woof?"

Finding nothing amiss, it quickly lowered its head and continued eating.

Watching the saber-toothed tiger being sent to the prison, Rhodes felt much more relieved after resolving this major problem.

Seeing that it was getting late and the residents had already gone to bed, he sat down in his temporary shelter to prepare for his next attempt.

As he previously stated, important matters concerning the territory can be divided into three levels.

Above the residents and the territory is the army, and above the army is himself.

The knight's training has not progressed in a short time, but the research on the soul is beginning to show results.

Next, he will undergo one of the most important exercises for wizards.

Advanced meditation after spiritual sublimation.
