The Silent Witch of Hogwarts
Chapter 548 Promises Must Be Kept
Chapter 548 Promises Must Be Kept
Time flies, or rather, summer vacation itself isn't very long. In any case, before Loila could even come to her senses, the new semester seemed to be about to begin.
She sat in her office with a worried expression on her face.
It seems I haven't accomplished anything in the past two months—not only is the management of Hogwarts currently stalled, but an extraordinary person is also joining us for the upcoming new term—
The thought of becoming colleagues with Umbridge from the Ministry of Magic gave Loira a headache.
But no matter what, this is Hogwarts, right? Dumbledore won't let her cause trouble—right?
To be honest, Royla isn't entirely sure herself anymore.
"Why----"
Loila slumped onto the table and sighed. She felt utterly listless and just wanted to sit there quietly, becoming the lazy bum she used to be in Nurmengard.
Going to work is so tiring!
"Bang bang bang".
Just then, Loila heard a knock on the door.
"Hmm?"
"Loila, it's me, Remus."
Is it Mr. Lupin?
Loila paused for a moment, then quickly patted her face to clear her mind. She took two steps at a time to the office door and swiftly opened it.
As expected, standing at the door was the refined Mr. Lupin. He smiled slightly at Loila and said, "May I come in and have a chat with you?"
"Of course—of course you can!" Loila smiled slightly and then let Mr. Lupin into her office.
What could be more delightful than a friend suddenly visiting?
Although this friend was about to leave—the thought of it made Loila feel a little sad.
"Loila, I came here for this." Lupin seemed to sense Loila's sadness, and he smiled slightly as he took out a small basin from his pocket.
It was a small flowerpot with a single flower inside.
It's a blue cornflower.
"I know you really like this flower," Lupin said with a shrug. "And I probably won't be at Hogwarts for a while—so I was thinking—"
"I will cherish it!" Loila said, holding the flowers. "I'm going to put it—put it on my bed—"
Let's forget about it.
Lu Ping pursed his lips and quickly waved his hand.
However, Loila was indeed very happy, after all, she rarely received gifts from others, let alone from friends.
Even if Mr. Lupin had given me a bowl of potatoes, I would have been very happy.
Of course—she was even happier to see cornflowers, which were indeed her favorite flower, probably because they were her mother's favorite flower—for that gentle person in her memory, this was one of the few things Roy could cherish.
Holding the flowers, she gently sniffed, and the faint scent of fresh grass made Loila blink.
Seeing how much she cherished it, Lu Ping couldn't help but smile gently.
"Ah—sorry—" This also brought Loila back to her senses; she seemed to have left Mr. Lupin out in the cold.
She pursed her lips and said, "Lou... Remus, are you really leaving?"
"There's nothing we can do about it," Lupin said with a shrug. "I'd love to continue teaching at Hogwarts."
"But obviously—there are more important things for me to do." Lupin didn't seem so sad; he said rather nonchalantly, "Besides, I've been on campus for a bit too long, haven't I?"
"Perhaps taking a short walk would suit me better?"
"Then—what are you going to do, Remus?"
"Some investigations," Lupin said with a shrug. "Investigations about Horcruxes."
The investigation of Horcruxes — Loila paused for a few seconds upon hearing this word, hesitated for a moment, and then coughed softly.
"Um—Mr. Lupin—could we not tell anyone about this?"
"Huh?" Lupin's expression changed immediately upon hearing this: "Who did you kill this time?"
"Ah—no, no! I didn't!" Loila quickly shook her head and said, "This isn't about murder."
"It's just a little secret or something—" she stammered as she explained, "and it just happens to be related to Horcruxes—it's just related to Horcruxes."
"It's related to Horcruxes?" Lupin's expression turned serious upon hearing this. "Royla—I must remind you—creating Horcruxes is a very dangerous thing."
No, what kind of person am I in Mr. Lupin's eyes? Why can't my secret be a good thing?
Why is it always about killing people or creating Horcruxes?
"No, and it's not a Horcrux or anything," Royla said, puffing out her cheeks in dissatisfaction. "It's not like that!"
"Is that so?" Lupin raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised. "That's something I didn't expect."
"you----"
Loila puffed out her cheeks in anger, but in the end she sighed helplessly.
"Yes—yes, that's how it is." Loila pursed her lips and said, "I think I know—I know about one of Voldemort's Horcruxes."
"Huh?" Lupin paused, then his eyes widened. "Are you kidding me, Loira?"
"Of course not." Loila stood up, so angry she could hardly sit still, though even so she was only about the same height as Lupin, who was sitting up straight.
"Here's the thing—I learned from—a rather peculiar source—what the Horcrux that Voldemort stole from Hogwarts was."
"That Horcrux, huh?" Lupin nodded solemnly upon hearing this.
"It's—it's Ravenclaw's crown." Loila thought for a moment and decided that she should tell Mr. Lupin about this, because Mr. Lupin, who was now a free man, might be able to help her investigate, unlike her, who couldn't leave Hogwarts.
"Ravenclaw's tiara?" Lupin looked thoughtful upon hearing this, and after a few seconds of consideration, he said, "I understand."
"However, he has already taken this Horcrux back himself—" he said, showing a slightly troubled expression. "Of course—it can be used to speculate on what the other Horcruxes might be."
"7
"After all, he's Voldemort—he wouldn't just pick any item to make Horcruxes—"
"That—that Remus," Loila whispered, interrupting Lupin's thoughts, "If there's any chance—if you get any information about the Crown, please—please tell me immediately, okay?"
"I promised someone I would return the crown to her—"
"Alone? Give it back to her?" Lupin paused, instinctively asking, "Is it Ms. Ravenclaw?"
"Um?!"
I clearly didn't say who it was!
Loila was so angry she wanted to slap her own clumsy mouth. Why did she have to say the word "repay"?
"Yes—it doesn't matter who—just don't tell anyone about this!" Roy said, trying to sound calm, but her constantly trembling ears betrayed her true feelings.
"Ah—" Lupin chuckled softly as he looked at the ears. "I understand."
"I won't tell anyone."
"Even Dumbledore!"
"Yes, even Headmaster Dumbledore."
Loila was still a little uneasy looking at his smile.
"No—no—we have to pinky swear about this." Loila said, extending her right hand.
"Shall we pinky swear?" Lupin chuckled again upon hearing this, but seeing Loila's serious expression, he finally extended his hand.
The two fingers were not touching, but were just made to look like they were touching in the air.
"I promise I won't tell anyone," Lupin said softly.
"Mmm...mmm." Loila bit her lip and then whispered, "Besides..."
"Remus, you need to be careful."
Lupin paused for a moment upon hearing this, then said softly, "You too, Loila."
The two friends smiled at each other, then simultaneously lowered their hands.
